    Get PDF
Mathematical modeling and computer mechanization for real time simulation of rotary wing aircraft is discussed. Error analysis in the digital simulation of dynamic systems, such as rotary wing aircraft is described. The method for digital simulation of nonlinearities with discontinuities, such as exist in typical flight control systems and rotor blade hinges, is discussed

Signal-to-noise ratio estimation in digital computer simulation of lowpass and bandpass systems with applications to analog and digital communications, volume 3

    Get PDF
Techniques are developed to estimate power gain, delay, signal-to-noise ratio, and mean square error in digital computer simulations of lowpass and bandpass systems. The techniques are applied to analog and digital communications. The signal-to-noise ratio estimates are shown to be maximum likelihood estimates in additive white Gaussian noise. The methods are seen to be especially useful for digital communication systems where the mapping from the signal-to-noise ratio to the error probability can be obtained. Simulation results show the techniques developed to be accurate and quite versatile in evaluating the performance of many systems through digital computer simulation

YF-12 cooperative airframe/propulsion control system program, volume 1

    Get PDF
Several YF-12C airplane analog control systems were converted to a digital system. Included were the air data computer, autopilot, inlet control system, and autothrottle systems. This conversion was performed to allow assessment of digital technology applications to supersonic cruise aircraft. The digital system was composed of a digital computer and specialized interface unit. A large scale mathematical simulation of the airplane was used for integration testing and software checkout

Efficient time-domain modeling and simulation of passive bandpass systems

    Get PDF
In communication systems, the signals of interest are often amplitude and/or phase modulated ones. In this framework, the baseband equivalent signals and systems representation is usually adopted to simulate the digital parts of communication systems in an efficient manner. This contribution extends the applicability of such representation to RF/analog devices, leading to a common and efficient modeling and simulation framework. In particular, the proposed method can build half-size models compared to existing approaches, and allows one to choose the simulation time step according to the bandwidth of the modulating signals rather than the carrier frequency, thereby significantly speeding up the simulation procedure. The novel proposed method is validated via a suitable application example

Digital quantum simulation of spin models with circuit quantum electrodynamics

    Get PDF
Systems of interacting quantum spins show a rich spectrum of quantum phases and display interesting many-body dynamics. Computing characteristics of even small systems on conventional computers poses significant challenges. A quantum simulator has the potential to outperform standard computers in calculating the evolution of complex quantum systems. Here, we perform a digital quantum simulation of the paradigmatic Heisenberg and Ising interacting spin models using a two transmon-qubit circuit quantum electrodynamics setup. We make use of the exchange interaction naturally present in the simulator to construct a digital decomposition of the model-specific evolution and extract its full dynamics. This approach is universal and efficient, employing only resources which are polynomial in the number of spins and indicates a path towards the controlled simulation of general spin dynamics in superconducting qubit platforms.Comment: 12 pages, 9 figure

Macromodeling strategy for digital devices and interconnects

    Get PDF
International audienceThis paper proposes a macromodeling approach for the simulation of digital interconnected systems. Such an approach is based on a set of macromodels describing IC ports, IC packages and multiconductor interconnect structures in standard circuit simulators, like SPICE. We illustrate the features of the macromodels and we demonstrate the proposed approach on a realistic simulation problem

Puzzles in pipes with negative curvature: from the Webster PDE to stable numerical simulation in real time

    Get PDF
Minimal realizations of a class of delay-differential systems are derived for the digital simulation of waveguides, modelled by the Webster horn equation. Studying their stability is an interesting issue, since negative curvatures could lead to unstable systems. Spectral properties of Toeplitz matrix play a key role in this work

Wind energy system time-domain (WEST) analyzers

    Get PDF
A portable analyzer which simulates in real time the complex nonlinear dynamics of horizontal axis wind energy systems was constructed. Math models for an aeroelastic rotor featuring nonlinear aerodynamic and inertial terms were implemented with high speed digital controllers and analog calculation. This model was combined with other math models of elastic supports, control systems, a power train and gimballed rotor kinematics. A stroboscopic display system graphically depicting distributed blade loads, motion, and other aerodynamic functions on a cathode ray tube is included. Limited correlation efforts showed good comparison between the results of this analyzer and other sophisticated digital simulations. The digital simulation results were successfully correlated with test data
