The three dimensional globally modified Navier-Stokes equations: Recent developments
The globally modified Navier-Stokes equations (GMNSE) were introduced by Caraballo, Kloeden & Real in 2006 and have been investigated in a number of papers since then, both for their own sake and as a means of obtaining results about the 3-dimensionalNavier-Stokes equations. These results were reviewed by Kloeden et al, which was published in 2009, but there have been some important
developments since then, which will be reviewed here
a short update on the Occasion of the 2019 AMR Decade Award
This discussion paper reports and reflects on the reception of our article âOrganizational path dependence: Opening the black boxâ, which was published in 2009 in the Academy of Management Review and granted the AMR Decade Award in 2019. While we were invited by the editor of the journal to discuss the criticism evoked by that paper, to re-examine our original propositions in the light of advanced insights and to outline new avenues for future research on organizational path dependence, in this discussion paper we report in some detail and comment on the citation landscape of our original AMR piece

Is Acupuncture Effective in Reducing Opioid Cravings in Detoxifying Opioid Abusing Adults?
OBJECTIVE: The objective of this selective EBM review is to determine whether or not âIs acupuncture effective in reducing opioid cravings in detoxifying opioid abusing adults?â
STUDY DESIGN: A review of three RCTs published in English, each of which was published in 2009, 2013 and 2014 respectively.
DATA SOURCES: Three randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published in peer-reviewed journals that evaluate the effectiveness of acupuncture to reduce opioid cravings found via PubMed and ScienceDirect.
OUTCOMES MEASURED: Opioid cravings via 100 millimeter analog scale score, the Maudsely craving score consisting of five-point Likert scales and withdraw symptoms as measured by a 4-point scale questionnaire.
RESULTS: Two RCTs found no significant difference between the acupuncture and control groups in opioid withdraw cravings. Chan et al. established a decrease in opiate cravings in both the control and experimental groups, but the decrease was statistically insignificant (p=0.101). Moreover, the craving means measured throughout 14 days by Bearn et al. found no statistical difference in placebo vs. auricular acupuncture cravings (p=0.283). Conversely, Lua and Talib compared pre and post intervention mean cravings within their experimental acupuncture group, resulting in a significant craving reduction of 20.8% after intervention (p=0.011).
CONCLUSIONS: It is not clear the effect that acupuncture has on opiate cravings after detoxification, as two of the RCTs addressed in this paper revealed no improvment and one RCT showed positive results in craving decreases. Additional trials, specifically in countries where acupuncture is less familiar, are necessary to deduce the efficiency of acupuncture as an adjunctive treatment for opiate addiction

Postfeminist sexpertise on the âporn and men issueâ: A transnational perspective
Focusing on womenâs online magazines produced between 2012 and 2014 in the UK and in Spain, this chapter examines peer responses to women feeling distressed about their male partnersâ consumption of pornographies, in addition to editorial content around the subject. Moving beyond âfor and againstâ positions, and driven by a social justice agenda, the chapter utilises this commentary about hetero-male- oriented pornographies as a point of analytical entry into the kinds of gendered and sexual pleasures, bodies, subjectivities and intimate relational possibilities contemporary (new) media and public sex and relationship advice bring into being and render (un)intelligible. In doing so, it seeks to contribute to feminist interrogations of the politics of mediated intimacy and pornification under neoliberalism and postfeminism, incorporating a much-needed transnational perspective
The Slovakian Long-term Care System. ENEPRI Research Report No. 86, 15 June 2010
Launched in January 2009, ANCIEN is a research project that runs for a 44-month period and involves 20 partners from EU member states. The project principally concerns the future of long-term care (LTC) for the elderly in Europe and addresses two questions in particular: 1) How will need, demand, supply and use of LTC develop? 2) How do different systems of LTC perform? This case study on Slovakia is part of the first stage in the project aimed at collecting the basic data and necessary information to portray long-term care in each country of the EU. It will be followed by analysis and projections of future scenarios on long-term care needs, use, quality assurance and system performance. State-of-the-art demographic, epidemiologic and econometric modelling will be used to interpret and project needs, supply and use of long-term care over future time periods for different LTC systems
Deep Ecology, the Radical Enlightment, and Ecological Civilization
With the early success of the deep ecology movement in attracting adherents and with the increasing threat of a global ecological catastrophe, one would have expected this movement to have triumphed. We should be in the process of radically transforming society to create a harmonious relationship between humans and the rest of nature. Instead, deep ecology has been marginalized. What has triumphed instead is an alliance of managerialism, transnational corporations and neo-liberalism committed to replacing communities with markets and transforming every facet of nature and society into means for increasing the profitability of corporations and expanding GDP. This outcome is here explained by the failure of deep ecologists to understand the ideological, political and economic forces driving ecological destruction, and thereby what is required to overcome these. To regain the initiative, it is argued, it will be necessary to recover the whole project of the Radical Enlightenment upholding the Renaissance quest for liberty that was subverted by the scientific materialism and possessive individualism of the Moderate Enlightenment. Not only will it be necessary to transform science to develop a comprehensive alternative conception of nature and humanity and its destiny, it will be necessary to revive and develop the institutions of the Radical Enlightenment to subordinate markets to democratically organized communities at multiple levels, as communities of communities committed to augmenting the life of these communities, including the life of ecological communities. Doing so will involve reformulating the grand narrative of emancipation as a dialogic, polyphonic grand narrative to orient individuals, organizations and nations to create a global ecological civilization
