Lean production as the most effective method to reduce production costs of world, has been verified in many companies, but many Chinese enterprises did not achieve the expected effect. The reason is that they did not rely on the actual situation, and use the lean technology flexible. Therefore, it is an important prerequisite for companies to implement the lean production, how to diagnose the main...学位:工商管理硕士院系专业:管理学院_工商管理硕士(工商管理硕士)学号:1792013115075

CERES-Maize Simulation Model: Establishment of Planting Windows for Grains Maize under Rainfed Conditions

Growing period or planting windows concepts is a useful approach in identifying suitable planting time for crop under rainfed management. It will help farmers to ensure the crop success. A crop simulation model (CERESMaize model) was used to identify the suitable planting time and maize was used as an indicator crop. The model was validated using compiled data to ensure its fitness within the setup acceptable limit. The model was capable to predict maize yield potential close to the actual yield at the experimental trails but always over estimated at the farm production levels. Under local conditions with favourable soil and climate, the yield potential of maize could be expected greater than 7 t/ha. The yield potentials for most of the zones are relatively low towards the end of year due to a dry period, experienced in most of the crop growing cycle. Based on the yield potential trends, it corresponds to rainfall pattern. In combination with a cut off point at 5 t/ha, its shows most of the zones have double planting windows except for two zones (1 and 26), which have a single planting window. In addition, as example the most suitable planting time within the planting window for zone 9 and 10 were also identified. This information can help farmers in planning their farm in order to have the most efficient operation

Development of a MALDI MS-based platform for early detection of acute kidney injury

Purpose: Septic acute kidney injury (AKI) is associated with poor outcome. This can partly be attributed to delayed diagnosis and incomplete understanding of the underlying pathophysiology. Our aim was to develop an early predictive test for AKI based on the analysis of urinary peptide biomarkers by MALDI-MS. Experimental design: Urine samples from 95 patients with sepsis were analyzed by MALDI-MS. Marker search and multimarker model establishment were performed using the peptide profiles from 17 patients with existing or within the next 5 days developing AKI and 17 with no change in renal function. Replicates of urine sample pools from the AKI and non-AKI patient groups and normal controls were also included to select the analytically most robust AKI markers. Results: Thirty-nine urinary peptides were selected by cross-validated variable selection to generate a support vector machine multidimensional AKI classifier. Prognostic performance of the AKI classifier on an independent validation set including the remaining 61 patients of the study population (17 controls and 44 cases) was good with an area under the receiver operating characteristics curve of 0.82 and a sensitivity and specificity of 86% and 76%, respectively. Conclusion and clinical relevance: A urinary peptide marker model detects onset of AKI with acceptable accuracy in septic patients. Such a platform can eventually be transferred to the clinic as fast MALDI-MS test format

Development of an In Vitro Goat Mammary Gland Model: Establishment, Characterization, and Applications of Primary Goat Mammary Cell Cultures

Alternatives to animal experiments, based on in vitro methodologies, have been suggested and adopted in the last decades in order to completely substitute or to reduce animal numbers in in vivo assays. In this chapter we describe methods for establishment, maintenance, and characterization of primary goat mammary epithelial cell cultures (pgMECs) and possible applications for which the derived primary cell model can be used instead of in vivo experiments. The established cell lines were grown in vitro for several passages and remained hormone and immune responsive and capable of milk protein synthesis. Knowledge on goat mammary cells and their manipulation is applicable to different fields of research; for example, it could be used in basic research to study mammary development and lactation biology, in agriculture to enhance lactation yield and persistency or to produce milk with special characteristics, in biopharma to express recombinant proteins in goat milk, or in biomedicine to study lactation, mammary development, and pathology, including neoplasia. The established cells represent an adequate surrogate for mammary gland; were successfully used to study mammary gland immunity, lactation, and mammary stem/progenitor cells; and have a potential to be used for other purposes

Spatial and Temporal Aggregation in the Estimation of Labor Demand Functions

The consequences of aggregation, temporal or spatial, for the estimation of demand models are theoretically well-known, but have not been documented empirically with appropriate data before. In this paper we conduct a simple, but instructive, exercise to fill in this gap, using a large quarterly dataset at the establishment-level that is increasingly aggregated up to the 2-digit SIC industry and the yearly frequency. We only obtain sensible results with the quadratic adjustment cost model at the most aggregated levels. Indeed, the results for quadratic adjustment costs confirm that aggregation along both dimensions works to produce more reasonable estimates of the parameters of interest. The fixed adjustment cost model performs remarkably well with quarterly, but also with yearly, data. We argue that is may be one more consequence of the unusually high labor adjustment costs in the Portuguese labor market.

What can we learn from hydrodynamic analysis at RHIC?

We can establish a new picture, the perfect fluid sQGP core and the dissipative hadronic corona, of the space-time evolution of produced matter in relativistic heavy ion collisions at RHIC. It is also shown that the picture works well also in the forward rapidity region through an analysis based on a new class of the hydro-kinetic model and that this is a manifestation of rapid increase of entropy density in the vicinity of QCD critical temperature, namely deconfinement.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, talk given at Workshop on Quark-Gluon-Plasma Thermalization, Vienna, Austria, 10-12 Aug 200
