Sampah merupakan konsekuensi dari adanya aktivitas manusia. Setiap aktivitas manusia pasti menghasilkan buangan atau sampah. Seiring dengan tumbuhnya sebuah kota, bertambah pula beban yang harus diterima kota tersebut. Salah satunya adalah beban akibat dari sampah yang diproduksi oleh masyarakat perkotaan secara kolektif. Untuk kota-kota besar, sampah akan memberikan berbagai dampak negatif yang sangat besar apabila penanganannya tidak dilakukan secara cermat dan serius yaitu mengakibatkan terjadinya perubahan keseimbangan lingkungan yang merugikan atau tidak diharapkan sehingga dapat mencemari lingkungan baik terhadap tanah, air, dan udara. Kota Surakarta yang sangat dikenal dengan nama Kota Solo adalah salah satu kota di Propinsi Jawa Tengah.Kota Surakarta merupakan sebuah dataran rendah yang terletak di cekungan lereng GunungLawu dan Gunung Merapi dengan ketinggian sekitar 92 m di atas permukaan air laut. Dengan luas sekitar 44 km2, Kota Surakarta terletak diantara 110 45` 15" -110 45` 35" Bujur Timur dan 70` 36" -70` 56" Lintang Selatan. Kota Surakarta dibelah dan dialiri oleh 3 buah sungai besar yaitu Sungai Bengawan Solo, Kali Jenes dan Kali Pepe. Bengawan Solo pada jaman dahulu sangat terkenal dengan keelokan panorama serta lalu lintas perdagangan. Pertumbuhan kotaakhir-akhir ini cenderung ke arah sektor industri, sehingga tidak menutup banyaknya permasalahan, khususnya masalah sampah, karena semakin banyak pabrik-pabrik yang menghasilkanlimbah dan sampah. The formation and use of social network sites terms

The paper entitled "The Formation and Use of Social Network Sites Terms" aims at observing the word formation processes in Social Network Sites (SNSs) as well as discovering the usage frequencies. This research is formulated into two questions : 1. How are terms in social network sites formed? 2) What are the meaning of terms? This qualitative research which uses synchronic approach is based on Chaer (2007). On other hand it also refers toonline Oxford Dictionaries, Merriam-Webster, Cambridge Dictionaries, and Urban Dictionaries to consult whether the term either accepted as new entry or limited in neologism. BBC, VOA, and NewYork Times were also used to observe the use of terms in 'offline' social life. On the analysis all of research object should meet the following requirements, (1) the word must be widespread and frequently used. (2)The general population should understand it. (3)The word must have a substantive lifespan to see if it will survive before it is included. As result, it shows that there are some terms found on SNSs, namely social network, to friend, the profile, to defriend/to unfriend, the follow, to message, the invite, fakester, frienemy, e-bully, transliteracy and tweet Each point of analysis include the formation, in this research Item and Process Model is employed further. It also includes some citations,such as (1) the word itself, (2) an example of the word used in context, and (3)bibliographic information about source from which word and example were taken. The citation is cited from main media assumed representation of English, American and British peculiar. While BBC is assumed as representation of British English, VOA is assumed as representation of American English. If the term is not found on these media, other selected media is used. Finally, based on analysis, it can be concluded that various formation processes used and the use of terms established in ‘offline’ social life. Some term were formed from compounding, blending, conversion, Yet, not all of the terms are accommodated as new entry as indicated in dictionary such as Oxford Dictionary, Cambridge Dictionary, etc

TEACHING LEARNING PROCESS OF A SYNTAX CLASS AT KRESNA ENGLISH LANGUANGE INSTITUTE PARE KEDIRI

The study is aimed to describe the teaching learning process of Syntax Class at Kresna English Language Institute. Those are including of:The teaching learning process, the English teacher’s problem, the problem solving of teacher, the student’s response, and the appropriate material for student.This research design used descriptive qualitative. The subjects were a teacher and 25 students of Syntax Class. The methods were observation, interview, and documentation. Observation used for collecting data on the teaching learning process that consisted of: lesson plan, the material, method, and media that the teachers used in teaching. Interview used for collecting data on the teachers’ preparation, students’ response, and the teachers’ evaluation in teaching learning process. Documentation was used to collect data about a record of events that have passed. This research had some results: (1the teaching learning process was running well by some phases such as : preparation, implementation and evaluation, (2) the problems of the teacher happened in implementation and in evalution phases,(3) in implementation, the problem faced by some  advices and even punishment to the student and in evaluation the problem solved by giving motivation and additional duty,(4) there were more positive responses than negative responses from the students, ( 5 ) the appropriate material in this class was Syntactic stucture and sentence analysis. Theconclusion of this reseach was that the teaching learning process ran well, but there were some activities of teacher that were not suitable with lesson plan

Karakteristik Bioekologi Rajungan (Portunus Pelagicus) Di Perairan Dusun Ujung Lombok Timur

This study aims to assess the size of the crabs are caught, analyzing the ratio of male and female, and analyze the habitat characteristics (salinity, temperature, pH, and form of the substrate waters) in crab fishing area in the Ujung Vilage of East Lombok District.This research is a descriptive study using survey methods in data collection.The parameters studied are biological and ecological parameters. Biological parameters measured were sex and carapace width, while the ecological parameters are temperature, salinity, and pH of the water and the form of the substrate.The results showed that the water quality in the study area were very feasible for the life of crab, with a distribution of temperature between 290C - 300C.Salinity waters in the study area ranged from 31 to 32 ppt, and water pH value in the study site ranged from 7.2 to 7.5.Karaps wide distribution crab dominated by width exceeding 100 mm in both males and females. The proportion of carapace width of male crabs are caught with a width exceeding 100 mm is 41.7% and females at 48.3% of the total sample.Rajungan sex ratio between males and females was 0.8: 1. This shows that the male crab can fertilize more than one female crabs

The aim of this study is to determine utilization and potentian status of grouper and red snapper fish in the Alas Strait of West Nusa Tenggara Province. The method has been used to determine the level of utilization of fish by using the maximum sustainable yield of Schaefer.The study was conducted in the fishing villages around the Alas Strait West Nusa Tenggara Province. Sustainable yield (MSY) of grouper (Ephinephelus sp) is 259,1 ton/year, while red snapper (Lutjanus campechanus) is 205,8 ton/year. Utilization status grouper (Ephinephelus sp) is 197,2 in the state of over exploited. While the utilization of status of red snapper (Lutjanus campechanus) is 65,7% in the state of moderately exploited

A Simple Instrumentation System for Large Structure Vibration Monitoring

A conventional instrumentation systems in monitoring vibration of large-scale infrastructure building such as bridges, railway, and others structural building, generally has a complex design. Makes it simple would be very useful both in terms of low-cost and easy maintenance. To make system become simple, low cost, and easy in maintenance, this paper proposes a distributed network for implementation system. The system consists of field bus topology, using single-master multi-slave architecture. Master is a control unit, built based on a PC equipped with RS-485 interface. Slave is a sensing unit; each slave is built by integrating a 3-axis vibration sensor within a microcontroller based data acquisition system. Vibration sensor is designed using the main components of a MEMS accelerometer. The software is developed for two functions; a control system hardware and a data processing. To verify performance of the developed instrumentation system, several laboratory tests have been performed. The result shows that the system has good performance
