Reading is the process to get some information out of the text in order to find out something or in order to do something with the information you get. It needs a lot of practice and experience to understand a passage and the information conveyed in it. The student’s reading problem is in comprehending a text. It founds in one of Junior High School in Kota Cirebon. This research is about the effectiveness of using PQRST method on students’ reading comprehension skill at the eighth grade students of MTs Al – Hidayah GUPPI Kota Cirebon. The aims of this research are: 1) to find out the data about student’s reading comprehension skill at experimental class, 2) to find out the data about student’s reading comprehension skill at control class, and 3) to find out the positive and significant effect of using PQRST method on students’ reading comprehension skill. Furthermore, the design in this research was quasi experimental. It is consist of two classes, namely experimental class and control class. The subject of this research was the eighth grade students of MTs Al – Hidayah GUPPI Kota Cirebon which consist of 23 students each of classes. The technique of collecting data in this research used a test, which is multiple choice tests. Then, the technique of analysis data used t-test and SPSS 21.0 for window. The findings of this research are students who were taught by using PQRST method at experimental class for pre-test got mean score 51.13 and for post-test got mean score 64.39. While, students who were taught without using PQRST method at control class for pre-test got mean score 47.22 and for post-test got mean score 55.13. The result of calculated by independent sample t-test shows that the obtained sig. (2-tailed) = 0.002 ttable 1.672) indicates that alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the effect size (r = 0, 45). So, it can be concluded that there is significant effect of using PQRST method on students’ reading comprehension skill. Key words: Effectiveness, PQRST Method, Reading Comprehension Skil

    Integrating technology and literature in English language teaching has been quite useful nowadays, especially for undergraduate students. One of the technologies which promotes literature is Wattpad. The use of Wattpad in this research was to gain students’ attention to read more, find the stories they were interested in, and apply their ability to think critically by giving comments or express their feelings. The study aimed at investigating the reading comprehension achievement of the students after being taught by using short story through Wattpad. The 60 non-English students of Bina Darma University were selected. The results suggested the short story through Wattpad significantly affected the students’ reading comprehension achievement

    Analysis of Adolescent Developmental Task Mastery and Its Implications for Information Service Materials

    This study aims to describe the mastery of developmental tasks of MAN Curup students and their implications for the preparation of information service materials. The method used is quantitative with a population of 75 students from MAN Curup majoring in Social Sciences. The sampling technique used is saturated sampling. Data were collected by using a questionnaire using the Guttman scale and analyzed by descriptive analysis. The results showed that some of the tasks of adolescent development have been mastered and some have not been mastered by students. Some developmental tasks that have not been mastered are maturity in establishing relationships with peers, economic independence, choosing and planning careers and understanding and implementing value systems and ethics in behaviour. Some aspects of developmental tasks that have not been mastered by students must be prioritized to be used as a basic reference in program preparation and implementation of counselling guidance services including in compiling information service material

    Pandemi Covid-19 telah mengubah semua bidang salah satunya dibidang pendidikan. Guru dan siswa dituntut untuk belajar dari rumah melalui pembelajaran online, hal ini berpengaruh pada rasa percaya diri dalam belajar. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh banyaknya temuan penurunan hasil belajar matematika siswa dari hasil observasi awal penelitian. Sehingga penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan metode pembelajaran demonstrasi dan metode drill. SD Cenderawasih 2 Jakarta kelas IV semester genap tahun ajaran 2019-2020 sebagai tempat melakukan penelitian. Metode eksperimen digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Populasi penelitian yaitu seluruh siswa kelas IV, kemudian dipilih sampel secara acak. Kelas eksperimen terdiri dari 30 sampel dan kelas kontrol sebanyak 30 siswa. Intrumen penelitian telah dilakukan uji validitas dengan rumus Point Biserial Correlation didapat 30 soal yang valid dan uji reliabilitas, sementara uji reliabilitas menggunakan KR-20 diperoleh hitung tabel r = 0,894 0,361 = r . Kedua data dilakukan uji lanjutan yaitu normalitas maupun uji homogenitas. Hasil uji normalitas pada kelas eksperimen diperoleh Lhitung = 161 = Ltabel 0,110 0, sementara kelas kontrol Lhitung = 161 = Ltabel 0,063 0, , sehingga kedua sampel dapat disimpulkan berdistribusi normal. Hasil perhitungan uji homogenitas dihasilkan Fhitung = 861 = Fkritis 1,095 1, , sehingga kedua kelas tersebut dapat disimpulkan mempunyai varians homogen. Hasil pengujian hipotesis dengan uji–t didapat hitung kritis t = 2,389 2,002 = t taraf signifikansi = 0,05 serta derajat kebebasan (dk) = 58. Maka tolak H0, sehingga hasil penelitian mengambil kesimpulan bahwa ada pengaruh terhadap hasil belajar matematika menggunakan metode demonstrasi dan metode drill

This study included a quantitative study with an experiment model. The research subject graders VC and VD SD Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta Ketelan. Data collection techniques using the technique of test, documentation, and interviews. Test instrument is used to test the validity and reliability testing. Data analysis technique using the t-test technique which preced analysis test prerequisite , that is the normality test using Liliefors and homogentitas test using Bartlett method. From the results of data analysis with a significance level of 5% there is no effect difference between strategy Everyone Here Is A Teacher and strategies Snowball throwing the learning outcomes math class V students of SD Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta Ketelan with t_tabel> t_hitung, ie 2.00172> 1.2002. The mean scores between grade class are taught using the strategy Everyone Here Is A Teacher and classes are taught using the strategy of Snowball Throwing ie 76.9> 72.1. The conclusion of this study were (1) there is no effect difference between strategy Everyone Here Is A Teacher and strategies Snowball Throwing on learning outcomes math class V students of SD Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta Ketelan year 2015/2016. (2) strategies Everyone Here Is A Teacher better than Snowball Throwing strategy against the results of students' mathematics learning class V SD Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta Ketelan year 2015/2016

    Analisis Self-Efficacy Siswa Pada Pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe Jigsaw

    Abstract: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis self-efficacy siswa setelah pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa X-IPA2 SMAS muhammadiyah 8 kisaran sebanyak 34 orang dan objek penelitian ini adalah self-efficacy siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan angket self-efficacy. Analisis data menggunakan model Mile and Huberman. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa self-efficacy yang dimiliki siswa SMAS Muhammadiyah 8 Kisaran setelah pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw, terdapat 9 siswa memiliki self-efficacy tinggi, 21 siswa memiliki self-efficacy sedang dan 4 siswa memiliki self-efficacy rendah. Secara keseluruhan self-efficacy yang dimiliki siswa sebesar 73.31% dengan kategori sedang, sehingga disimpulkan self-efficacy yang dimiliki siswa SMAS Muhammadiyah 8 Kisaran setelah pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw baik.     This research deals with the analysis of illocutionary act found in Barack Obama’s victory speeches. The purpose of this research was to analyze the illocutionary act which produced by Barack Obama in his victory speeches.This research used descriptive qualitative method where the researcher analyzed one by one the type of illocutionary act which produced by Barack Obama in his victory speeches. The researcher used the theory from Alston for illocutionary act. From the research, the researcher found that there were 31 statements of illocutionary act produced by Barack Obama in his victory speeches. They were 20 statements for expressive, 7 statements of directives and 4 statements of comissive. The researcher did not find any excertive in Barack Obama’s victory speeches. The result showed that the most dominant type of illocutionary act found in Barack Obama’s victory speeches was expressive

    This paper was aimed to find out the indicators of madness experienced by David and the effects of madness in David’s character through himself in A Child Called It, The Lost Boy, and A Man Named Dave trilogy. The data was collected from A Child Called It, The Lost Boy, and A Man Named Dave trilogy by Dave Pelzer. Then, The data of this study were analyzed based on madness theory by Michel Foucault. The data had been taken from some sentences and paragraphs from the trilogy. The study design was the descriptive qualitative method. The results of this study indicated that there were three indicators of madness experienced by David through the trilogy, which were the existence of the elite, asylum and punishment. Mental and physical punishments were the effects of madness in David’s character through himself in the trilogy. Keywords: dave pelzer’s trilogy, madness
