Beyond Human Interventions on Complex Bays: Effects on Water and Wave Dynamics (Study Case Cádiz Bay, Spain)

Bays are coastal environments with significant socio-economic importance, which has led to the development of human interventions in their interior that can have an important impact on the water and wave dynamics, which in turn modify their morphodynamics and water renewal capacity. In order to deepen our understanding of these impacts, numerical modeling was used in a bay in southern Spain to analyze the effect of inner harbor expansion and channel deepening, including the baroclinic and wave propagation effects, as well as variations in salinity and temperature. The results show that the deepening of the channel decreases the amplitude and speed of the tidal wave as it propagates through the bay, reducing the effects of friction and increasing the flushing time. The system evolves from convergent to a damping system that can potentially reduce the effects produced by projected sea level rise. In addition, the seasonal variability of salinity and temperature is reduced, increasing the bed shear stresses and resulting in increased turbidity that can affect the biogeochemistry of the bay. Finally, wave heights decrease along the main waterway, although the yearly-average wave energy flux is only slightly modified on the interior beaches of the bay. Evaluating the impact of dredging strategies at tidal inlets: Performance assessment

Despite relevant advances achieved in recent years, sediment transport and sedimentation problems at tidal inlets are still worldwide issues to be addressed. Furthermore, dredging strategies are carried out following traditional layouts, such as channel deepening, lasting short periods of time despite the high economic expenditures and the potential environmental impacts. This work proposes a new dredging strategy for tidal inlets and analyzes its morphodynamic evolution by means of numerical modeling. This numerical model, used to perform hydro-morphodynamic simulations, is applied to a highly altered tidal inlet (Punta Umbría inlet, Southern Spain) with a navigational capacity being continuously compromised. After calibrated and tested, the model is applied to different dredging strategies, including channel deepening, littoral drift barrier and shoal removal. Among these strategies, the shoal removal, which is a new soft-engineering strategy, is found to be the most efficient to improve the navigational channel operativity, defined as the percentage of navigable hours per year for different vessel drafts; this operativity improves up to 60% compared to the other strategies. This solution, which reduce the frequency of maintenance interventions and hence the environmental impacts, may be suitable for other inlets with compromised navigational capacities due to the presence of ebb shoals. The relation between the main maritime drivers and the morphodynamic changes is analyzed, concluding that the morphodynamic evolution of the navigational channels is closely related not only to the wave energetic content, but largely to the wave directionality. Finally, the shoal removal also increases the flow velocities at the inlet modifying the stability of the mouth and hampering its long-term closure. Procedimientos para la primera fijación de alimentos para el niño y la mujer grávida en la jurisdicción de la Niñez y Adolescencia

En la jurisdicción de la niñez y la adolescencia, a la fecha, coexisten dos procedimientos para la primera fijación de alimentos por vía judicial, a favor de niños, niñas, adolescentes y de la mujer grávida, por un lado, un procedimiento para quien reclama alimentos y por el otro, un procedimiento para sustanciar el ofrecimiento de alimentos por parte del obligado a otorgarlos. A continuación, se realizará una reseña de éstos, a fin de determinar si la coexistencia de dos trámites para obtener el mismo objeto, cual es la fijación de alimentos, favorece o no a las partes, a la labor jurisdiccional, y por sobre todo al ejercicio efectivo el derecho a percibir alimentos

Estrategias cognitivas y competencia lee textos en inglés de estudiantes de secundaria de la Institución Educativa Dante Alighieri, Trujillo – 2022

La investigación se desarrolló con la finalidad de determinar la relación que existe entre las estrategias cognitivas y la competencia lee textos en inglés de estudiantes de secundaria de la institución educativa Dante Alighieri, Trujillo - 2022. El estudio se efectuó a través del tipo de estudio cuantitativo, no experimental, con un diseño correlacional, transversal; la población y muestra estuvo constituida por las profesoras del área de Inglés pertenecientes a la provincia de Trujillo, departamento de La Libertad - 2022. Se utilizó como instrumentos de recopilación de información dos cuestionarios con escala valorativa referente a las Estrategias Cognitivas y la competencia Lee textos en Inglés. Se concluyó que no existe relación directa entre las Estrategias Cognitivas y la competencia Lee textos en inglés de estudiantes de Educación Secundaria de la institución educativa Dante Alighieri de Trujillo – 2022, se sustenta en la prueba no paramétrica Rho de Spearman, donde el p-valor es de 0.863 y el coeficiente de correlación Rho es de 0.037.Tesi

Tras la leche ¿nada eches? Trabajando con mezclas

El estudio de la materia y las mezclas suelen tratarse a través de actividades de lápiz y papel centrados en clasificarlas. Para mejorar su comprensión, en el presente trabajo, se estudiar al mismo tiempo las mezclas y las sustancias. Además, se intenta ubicarlas en la vida real mediante una propuesta de indagación de nutrición. Los resultados muestran que poder tocar y practicar diferentes mezclas a la par que se trabaja con el libro de texto, mejora su comprensión e identificación. Sin embargo, los estudiantes no están acostumbrados a generar hipótesis y extraer conclusiones, lo que dificulta mostrarles procesos de la vida real en los que están implicadas las mezclas

Promoting Social Competence in Preschool with an Executive Functions Program Conducted by Teachers

The objective of this research is to examine the effectiveness of the “Executive Function Training Program in Preschool” (EFE-P) that includes real-world activities and applies different required methodologies for a sustainable education. In addition, it is evaluated whether the improvement of executive functions is transferred to the social competence domain. The study involved 100 students aged 5–6 years, of which 50 were randomly assigned to the active control group and 50 to the experimental group. Executive functions (BRIEF-P) and social competence (BASC and PKBS-2) were measured at two time points (pre-intervention and post-intervention). Data were analyzed using the Generalized Estimating Equation (GEE) for repeated data and results showed that children in the experimental group obtained better scores on executive functions and social competence compared to their peers in the control group. It is discussed if the executive functions training can be effective in improving social competence as long as the programs include real-world activities that encourage such transfer, as the EFE-P does

Sistema Integral de Gestión de Calidad en la Universidad de La Guajira, Colombia

This work was aimed to describe the comprehensive management system of the University of La Guajira. A methodology descriptive study, evaluation and propositional case applied a qualitative research developed in two stages: the first exploratory time and finally the time of consolidation; mainly based on the contributions made by authors such as Aktouf (2001), Zeithaml et al (1993) and Sanchez (2006). The results reveal that the administrative structure of the institution is mechanistic, because the authority of decision-making is centralized, hierarchical relationships are rigid, is an organization of many rules, regulations and procedures which does not facilitate the execution of their duties. It was concluded that, even in complex environments such as public universities, it is possible to strengthen improvement opportunities that arise from this institution, develop a management permeated by the spirit of quality, in compliance with the mission and institutional purposes, with in order to impact and productively competitive environment.El presente trabajo tuvo como propósito proponer la mejora del sistema integral de gestión de la Universidad de La Guajira. Se aplicó una metodología de estudio de caso descriptivo, evaluativo y propositivo, desarrollando una investigación cualitativa en dos momentos: el primer momento exploratorio y finalmente el momento de consolidación; basada principalmente en los aportes realizados por autores como: Aktouf (2001), Zeithaml y otros (1993) y Sánchez (2006). Los resultados revelan que la estructura administrativa de la institución es mecanicista, por cuanto la autoridad de toma de decisiones es centralizada, las relaciones jerárquicas son rígidas, es una entidad de muchas reglas, reglamentos y procedimientos lo cual no facilita la ejecución de sus funciones. Se concluyó que, aun en ambientes complejos como el de las universidades públicas, es posible fortalecer las oportunidades de mejoramiento que se plantean de esta institución, desarrollar una gestión permeada por el espíritu de la calidad, en cumplimiento de la misión y propósitos institucionales, con el fin de impactar competitiva y productivamente su entorno
