Presentem el segon volum d'Artnodes, en la seva nova etapa dedicada als nous materialismes. D'aquesta manera continuem recollint els treballs que es van presentar, o que es podien presentar, en el congrés que es va fer ara fa gairebé un any a Barcelona amb el títol «Art Matters» i que va donar lloc al primer volum de 2015, ja publicat.We are pleased to present the second volume of Artnodes in its new stage dedicated to new materialisms. Satirical criticism during the Weimar Republic: reshaping avant-garde through mass culture

En este artículo se analiza cómo figuras ligadas a la vanguardia artística y al marxismo generaron una vía que permitió articular su postura crítica con nuevos parámetros modernos, rechazando las dinámicas del expresionismo y del misticismo de fin de siglo.During the Weimar Republic, in the reigning climate of political agitation and economic crisis some cultural productions turned to a certain degree to satire. En aquest número d'Artnodes tornem a insistir en les relacions d'interdependència que travessen les imatges, allò polític i l'agència amb les estructures i els aparells simbòlics o materials. Davant d’anàlisis estètiques sobre virtualitat, sobre immaterialitat digital o sobre la prominència d’allò visual, torna amb urgència la necessitat de recuperar novament aquells estudis preocupats pel diàleg constitutiu que estableix la cultura amb allò material. In this issue of Artnodes we again insist on the interdependence of images, political issues and agency with symbolic and material structures and devices. Ante análisis estéticos sobre virtualidad, sobre inmaterialidad digital o sobre la prominencia de lo visual, vuelve con urgencia la necesidad de volver a recuperar aquellos estudios preocupados por el diálogo constitutivo que establece la cultura con lo material. In regard to aesthetic analyses of virtuality, digital immateriality and the prominence of the visual, there is an urgent need to return to the constitutive dialogue between culture and the material.En este número de Artnodes volvemos de nuevo a insistir sobre las relaciones de interdependencia que atraviesan las imágenes, lo político y la agencia con las estructuras y los aparatos simbólicos o materiales. Amb aquest número 15 de la revista presentem una novetat important: a partir d'ara passem de publicar el nostre número anual a publicar-ne dos a l'any, un a l'estiu i un altre a l'hivern, en els quals anirem presentant igualment els diferents nodes monogràfics i a més podrem donar cabuda a aquells altres articles que van passar positivament el procés d'avaluació i que formaran l'apartat de miscel·lània. Aquest canvi respon a la necessitat de respondre a la creixent demanda tant de coordinació de monogràfics com de publicació d'articles que la revista va rebent any rere any, una situació que entenem que, en part, és resultat del treball acumulat durant aquests anys en què hem anat publicant monogràfics i articles que, en més o menys mesura, han contribuït a la comunitat de coneixement en la qual ens inscrivim i des de la qual participem activament. Aquesta ha estat fins avui, al capdavall, la raó de ser que en el seu moment ens va dur a crear la revista, fa ja més d'una dècada, i a contribuir així a l'estudi, l’anàlisi i la reflexió de les interseccions entre art, ciència, tecnologia i societat. També és cert que avui, el que hem anat aprenent d'aquestes interseccions ha transcendit a l'àmbit de les arts i la cultura en general, i s’ha connectat amb altres pràctiques i reflexions igualment contributives per al nostre àmbit de coneixement, tal com hem pogut observar en els últims números de la revista, en els quals hem anat tractant qüestions de tipus epistemològic o metodològic que són transversals i que ens conviden a repensar el lloc des d’on aproximar-nos a la recerca pràctica o teòrica. With this number 15 issue of the journal, we are presenting an important new development: from now on, instead of publishing our single annual issue, we will be publishing two issues per annum, namely one in summer and one in winter and in which we will be presenting the different monographic nodes as well including those other articles having positively undergone the evaluation process and which will make up the miscellany section. This change constitutes a response to the need for accommodating a growing demand in both monograph orchestration and in the publication of articles received year after year by the journal, a situation at hand that we understand, is to some extent a result of the cumulative work throughout the past year in which we have published monographs and articles that, to a greater or lesser degree, have contributed some kind of input to this knowledge community to which we subscribe and from which we actively participate.To date, this has definitively been the raison d’être that led us to establish the journal, now over a decade ago, thus contributing to the study, analysis and reflection on the intersections and common ground between art, science, technology and society. It is also true that today, what we have progressively come to learn from these overlaps has transcended towards the field of art and culture in general, connecting with other practices and reflections equally contributory for our field of knowledge, just as we have been able to observe in the recent issues of the journal, ones in which we dealt with matters of an epistemological or methodological nature that are transversal and invite us to rethink the place from which to approach practical and theoretical research.Con este número 15 de la revista presentamos una novedad importante: a partir de ahora pasamos de publicar nuestro número anual a publicar dos números de la revista al año, uno en verano y otro en invierno, en los que igualmente iremos presentando los diferentes nodos monográficos además de poder dar cabida a aquellos otros artículos que pasaron positivamente el proceso de evaluación y que formarán el apartado de miscelánea. Este cambio responde a la necesidad de hacer frente a la creciente demanda tanto de coordinación de monográficos como de publicación de artículos que la revista va recibiendo año tras año, situación que entendemos que, en parte, es resultado del trabajo acumulado durante estos años en los que hemos ido publicando monográficos y artículos que, en mayor o menor medida, han ido realizando contribuciones a la comunidad de conocimiento en la que nos inscribimos y desde la que participamos activamente.Esta ha sido hasta hoy, en definitiva, la razón de ser que en su día nos llevó a crear la revista hace ya más de una década, contribuyendo de esta manera al estudio, análisis y reflexión de las intersecciones entre arte, ciencia, tecnología y sociedad. También es cierto que hoy, lo que hemos ido aprendiendo de estas intersecciones ha trascendido hacia el ámbito de las artes y la cultura en general, conectándose con otras prácticas y reflexiones igualmente contributivas para nuestro ámbito de conocimiento, tal y como hemos podido observar en los últimos números de la revista, en los que hemos tratado cuestiones de tipo epistemológico o metodológico que son transversales y que nos invitan a repensar el lugar desde el cual aproximarnos a la investigación práctica y/o teórica.   

Politics of Desire in the New Economy. From the historical background to critical artistic and social movements in Spain

Este trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar procesos y discursos, históricos y contemporáneos, relacionados con la afectividad, las emociones y el deseo como elementos clave en la producción social de subjetividades y en las dinámicas económicas. Su objetivo es explorar la correspondencia entre las primeras críticas a la modernidad y el modelo de nueva economía actual. Para ello, nos centraremos en la economía política de las industrias creativas, en las que la producción de deseo se entiende como un activo productivo y responde a la última reforma capitalista. Los casos de estudio visibilizaran cómo emergen ciertas comunidades críticas desde el campo artístico para cuestionar estos discursos hegemónicos y las condiciones laborales actuales, tanto del trabajador cultural como de otros tantos trabajadores desprotegidos. Las prácticas de los diversos casos escogidos, pretenden mostrar cómo un conceptos alternativos de la emoción y el deseo, recuperados desde la tradición militante y la tradición artística, han ayudado a renovar el vocabulario político de los movimientos sociales españoles para crear nuevas formas de comunidad y nuevas formas de subjetivación política en el contexto económico actual.This paper aims to analyze the factors related to affectivity, emotions and desire as key elements in the social production of subjectivity and the actual economic dynamics. Its aim is to explore the correspondence between the early critiques to modernity and the current New Economy model. To this end, it will focus on the political economy of creative industries in which the production of desires is understood to be an asset of productivity and it responds to the last capitalist reform. Special emphasis will be placed on how a critical community emerges and is able to question the contemporary labour conditions, not only to those who work in the vulnerable field of creative work but including a large range of unprotected workers. This analysis will take the form of multiple significant case studies, which will help to show how to suggest an alternative concept of emotion and desire, and how we can recover methods from past artistic avant-gardes and their engagement with social movements that had worked in this direction to create new communities and new political subjects in the contemporary economic context

Full maxillary rehabilitation with an all-ceramic system

With the appearance of all-ceramic systems, providing a choice of framework porcelains and allowing the same material to be used for the veneer, it is now possible to select the ideal structure in terms of both function and esthetics. Silicate ceramics allow porcelain laminate veneers and crowns to be used in the anterior region, providing excellent esthetics; while for the posterior area, where function takes precedence, oxide ceramics, specifically zirconium oxide, are preferred. The IPS e.max ceramic system, heir apparent to the IPS Empress 2 system, combines the advantages of zirconium oxide ceramics (IPS e.max Zircad) with the excellent esthetic qualities of silicate ceramics (IPS e.max Press). This paper presents a clinical case requiring complete maxillary rehabilitation for esthetic purposes. An overview of some of the porcelains used in this system, analyzed from both the clinical and laboratory perspective is provided. The esthetic advantages of a single ceramic veneer, the need to select appropriate ceramics for anterior and posterior regions, and cementation and surface treatments are discussed

In vitro experimental study of bonding between aluminium oxide ceramics and resin cements

To evaluate bond strengths of different resin cements to two aluminum oxide-based ceramics. Methods: One hundred ten ceramic cylinders were produced and given four different surface treatments. Resin cement cylinders were then bonded to the ceramic cylinders using different resin cements and the bond strength was determined by shear testing to the breaking point. We were thus able to obtain results for the different combinations of porcelain, surface treatments and cements. All data was analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test for more than two independent samples and the Bonferroni correction applied (a=0.01). An optical microscopy study was carried out to analyze the type of failure, and an electronic microscopy examination was carried out in order to evaluate the changes produced in the ceramic by the different surface treatments. Results: The best values corresponded to the control group, composed of silicate ceramics combined with Variolink II resin cement. In-Ceram Alumina showed no significant differences with respect to the type of cement applied. Procera AllCeram obtained the best values when silica coated using the CoJet System and applying Variolink II, or when sandblasted and applying Clearfil SE Bond + Porcelain Bond Activator and Panavia F cement. Significance: Surface treatment modifies the ceramic surface and influences the bond strength, as does the type of cement used. Silica coating is recommended to improve adhesion to Procera AllCeram, applying Variolink II, or sandblasting plus resin cement containing MDP (Panavia F

Women in limnology: From a historical perspective to a present-day evaluation

Research in limnology is nurtured by the work of many fascinating and passionate women, who have contributed enormously to our understanding of inland waters. Female limnologists have promoted and established the bases of our knowledge about inland waters and fostered the need of protecting the values of those ecosystems. However, on numerous occasions, their contribution to the advancement of limnology has not been duly recognized. Here, we review the presence of women in limnology through the history of the discipline: from the pioneers who contributed to the origins to present day' developments. We aim at visibilizing those scientists and establish them as role models. We also analyze in a simple and illustrative way the current situation of women in limnology, the scientific barriers they must deal with, and their future prospects. Multiple aspects fostering the visibility of a scientist, such as their presence in conferences, awards, or representation in societal or editorial boards show a significant gap, with none of those aspects showing a similar visibility of women and men in limnology. This article raises awareness of the obstacles that women in limnology faced and still face, and encourages to embrace models of leadership, scientific management, and assessment of research performance far from those commonly established.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
