Physical and mechanical properties of heat treated wood from Aspidosperma populifolium, Dipteryx odorata and Mimosa scabrella
Heat treatment improves some wood properties namely: equilibrium moisture, dimensional stability
and durability and mechanical properties. In this study, the heat treatment was applied to woods of three
natural species from Brazil: Aspidosperma populifolium (peroba mica), Dipteryx odorata (cumaru) and
Mimosa scabrella (bracatinga). The woods were heated in an oven under vacuum and under nitrogen,
at 180, 200, and 220°C for one hour. The untreated and heat-treated woods were characterized in
relation to equilibrium moisture content, basic density, shrinkage, Janka hardness, and bending MOR
and MOE according to NBR 7190 standards. All the thermal rectified woods showed a reduction in
the hygroscopic equilibrium content, especially when the heating was under vacuum from 13-15% in
the untreated woods to 1-3% for vacuum treatment at 220 °C. The dimensional stability was improved
to only a small extent e.g. volumetric shrinkage tended to decrease with increasing temperature. The
mechanical properties were affected differently for the three wood species. Heat-treated cumarushowed
increased Janka hardness, MOR and MOE; and peroba mica increased MOR and MOE but not Janka
hardness; while bracatinga was less influenced by the heat treatmentinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
In silico Studies Combining QSAR Models, DFT-based Reactivity Descriptors and Docking Simulations of Phthalimide Congeners with Hypolipidemic Activity
In this current study, a selected group of physicochemical descriptors extracted from the formalism of the density functional theory were used for modeling a series of phthalimide congeners with tested hypolipidemic activity once. Based on unsupervised pattern recognition of HCA and PCA followed by the PLS regressions, the final content may be considered trustful for predicting the biological activity due to the results of r2cal = 0.937, r2CV = 0.591 and r2test = 0.85. Moreover, the molecular modeling was performed through the docking protocol for predicting the ligand pose on the HMG-CoA reductase. The protocols of the AutoDock Tools and AutoDock Vina were used for determining the interaction scores (ΔG) and inhibition constants (Ki). Among all congeners studied, the docking results pointed out a potential compound. By taking into account the widely known top selling drugs, and just as is well-known that atorvastatin is one of them due its capability to lower the cholesterol levels, the structure of this drug was subjected to a docking study in order to guide us to a better understanding of the results available here.

Potential of mild torrefaction for upgrading the wood energy value of different Eucalyptus species
Torrefaction is a promising pre-treatment for improving the fuel quality of biomass.
This study examined the effect of a mild torrefaction (from 160 to 230 C) on the heating value,
elemental composition, and thermogravimetric analysis of wood from eight Eucalyptus species
(E. botryoides Sm., E. globulus Labill., E. grandis W.Hill ex Maiden, E. maculata (Hook.) K.D. Hill &
L.A.S.Johnson, E. propinqua Maiden Deane, E. rudis Endl., E. saligna Sm., and E. viminalis Labill.).
The higher heating values (HHV) increased from the initial average of 19 MJ kg1 to 21 MJ kg1 in
the torrefied samples. The carbon content increased from 48.2% to 53.3% and the C/O ratio from 1.08
to 1.35. The torrefied wood samples showed more thermal stability with a shift of the mass loss peaks
to higher temperatures and a higher residual mass at 450 C of 36%, in comparison to 30% of the
untreated samples. Torrefaction concentrated the biomass samples in the more energetic and thermal
resistant components and decreased their sulfur and chlorine content, leading to a better combustion
performance. The wood of the eight Eucalyptus species had a similar behavior and showed quality
improvement. Therefore, torrefaction showed potential as a pre-treatment for eucalyptus biomass

We propose, in the light of Foucault’s theories and the notion of Production and Consumption of written objects, bequeathed by Certeau, contributions from Chartier etc., analyze linguistic and discursive aspects of the lesson Dead Horse (CM), conveyed by a public-private initiative program (IMS – Integrated Management System). We aim at identifying the representation of the reader presupposed in the lesson in order to set out the identity profile of Teacher built for this purpose; and analyzing compositional devices and discursive responses of two managing participants in the course of SGI in Campina Grande – PB in order to confront interpretive gestures of the reading activity with the representation of the lesson reader. We found that the CM lesson is configured as a governmentality instrument whose discursive strategies aimed at implementing a ‘new’ conduct in Educators, with the assumption of leading them to the promised education of quality. This new approach involves a real will on education as servile and entrepreneurship as prominent. The subservience of education is materialized by the permissiveness in dealing with the interference of others in the area. And the business community of prominence, the pride with which it appropriates the ‘task’ to direct the improvement of education and (dis)qualify educators. This article refers to issues that are recurrently discussed in the area of educational policy; however they need to have resonance between the independent teachers’ level of education and professional expertise. It approached Education – no matter there were problematic, political, educational or theoretical-methodological suggestions, the context should trigger an identification within all professionals to ratify, discuss or dispute these suggestions. It seems that there are still among us, teachers and educators, such a dispersion that allows ‘others’ to (un) say and (un)do the educational area without a minimum scientific zeal. Keywords: teacher’s identity profile, real wills and business perspective in Education. Agronomic efficiency of organomineral fertilizer in onion cultivation
Onions has high nutritional and nutraceutical value. In the last decade the bulbs have gained increasingrelevance due their compounds linked to anti-cancer effects. The fertilization managment is relevant to thiscrop because the mineral’s influence beyond productivity, interfering in several aspects of quality. Organicsources despite available, adoption is still cautious and seen as an expense, rather than investment in soilquality. Therefore, the objective was to evaluate the use of organomineral fertilizer on the development andproductivity of Akamaru hybrid. The experiment was carried out in Cristalina-GO, in a randomized block design, with 4 replications and 5 treatments: organomineral fertilizer (NPK) with the formula 02-20-05. The rates wereadjusted to approximately the same amounts, where 3,680 kg ha-1 was considered the 100% rate, 2,944 kg ha-1as 80%, 2,208 kg ha-1 as 60% and 1,472 kg ha-1 as 40% of the rate established. The rate of 2,300 kg ha-1 of theformulated 03-35-06 referred to 100% of the mineral source. The total yield of onion was not affected when theorganomineral source was used, therefore, it is a viable source for use in onion culture. A rate reduction of upto 20% of the recommended mineral rate allows good performance (85.5 t ha-1), with 7.5 t ha-1 higher than the60% reduction of the recommended rate.Onions has high nutritional and nutraceutical value.
