Modelling Taylor Rule Uncertainty

In recent years, one has witnessed a widespread attention on the way monetary policy is conducted and in particular on the role of the so-called monetary policy rules. The conventional approach in the literature consists in estimating reaction functions for a monetary authority (the Federal Reserve, in most cases) in which a nominal interest rate, directly or indirectly controlled by that monetary authority, is adjusted in response to deviations of inflation (current or expected) from target and of output from potential. These reaction functions, usually called Taylor rules, following John Taylor's seminal paper published in 1993, match a number of normative principles set forth in the literature for optimal monetary policy. This provides a good reason for the growing prominence of indications given by Taylor rule estimations in debates about current and prospective monetary policy stance. However, they are usually presented as point estimates for the interest rate, giving a sense of accuracy that can be misleading. Typically, no emphasis is placed on the risks of those estimates and, at least to a certain extent, the reader is encouraged to concentrate on an apparently precise central projection, ignoring the wide degree of uncertainty and operational difficulties surrounding the estimates. As in any forecasting exercise, there is uncertainty regarding both the estimated parameters and the way the explanatory variables evolve during the forecasting horizon. Our work presents a methodology to estimate a probability density function for the interest rate resulting from the application of a Taylor rule (the Taylor interest rate) which acknowledges that not only the explanatory variables but also the parameters of the rule are random variables.

Correlation of magnetic susceptibility with 18O data in magnetite- and ilmenite-type granites from Iberian massif

The relationship between oxygen isotopic values and magnetic susceptibility composition on 11 Variscan Portuguese granites has been investigated. Whole-rock oxygen-isotope (18O ) values for Vieira do Minho (VM), Vila Pouca de Aguiar (VPA), Chaves, Castelo Branco (CB), Manteigas and Serra da Estrela (SE) granitoids, were compilated from bibliography [1,2,3,4], and 18O for Santa Eulalia Plutonic Complex (SEPC) were obtained by laser fluorination at the Stable Isotopic Laboratory of Salamanca. Magnetic susceptibility (Km) values were obtained with a Kappabridge equipment from Toulouse University and Geology Centre, Porto University [2,5,6,7,8]. In this study is shown that there is a significant inverse correlation between Km and 18O. Magnetite-type granites (Manteigas granodiorite and SEPC external facies) have Km>10-3 SI and low 18O values ranging from 8.9 to 10.3 0/00 instead those of ilmenite-type (all the other granites) have Km 10-4 SI and are 18O enriched (9.3 to 13.5 0/00). The I-type granites (VM, VPA, Chaves, Manteigas and SEPC external facies) show lower average 18O (10.2 0/00) and higher Km values (100x10-6 SI) than the S-type granites (SE and CB) with 18O = 12.6 0/00 and Km = 65x10-6 SI. El Trabajador Fronterizo y Régimen Jurídico de Trabajo en la Frontera

THE POLICE POWER AND COMPLIANCE IN A LEGAL STATE AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON THE ANTI-CORRUPTION LAW (LAW 12,846 DATED AUGUST 1, 2013).

ABSTRACT   This scientific paper deals with the intensity and extent of police power exercised by the State of Law on issues relating to anti-corruption practices that should be adopted by companies and their managers, especially in light of Law 12,846 dated August 1, 2013, formal introducer in Brazil of compliance practices. Compliance is evidence of self-regulation granted by the State to the companies for the effectiveness of the police power internally in companies, for themselves, through compliance programs containing the code of conduct and ethics and internal policies to spread the good conduct and ethics in business and preventing acts of corruption.   KEYWORDS: Compliance; Anti-Corruption Act; Police Power; Ethics.   RESUMO   O presente artigo científico aborda a intensidade e extensão do poder de polícia exercido pelo Estado de Direito nos temas relativos às práticas anticorrupção que devem ser adotadas pelas empresas e seus administradores, especialmente diante da Lei n º 12.846 de 1º de agosto de 2013, introdutora formal no Brasil das práticas de compliance. THE CONTRIBUTION OF COMPLIANCE PRACTICES TO THE SOCIAL ROLE OF THE COMPANY.

ABSTRACT The target of this article is to research the origin of the company as promoter of social role and its relations with compliance and the intense economic globalization, its influence and contribution to the fortification of the social role of the company in Brazil.  The research was developed via bibliography and interpretation of legal articles and reaching a historical perspective. This allowed the conclusion that compliance practices duly utilized by the companies to monitor the fulfillment of legislation, the edition of internal policies and codes of ethics and conduct are attitudes of social responsibility of the company, allowing its employees  and the community in general to live in a world worth living and more respectful, among other positive factors.   KEYWORDS: Social Role of the Company; Compliance Practices; Economic Globalization; Regulator State. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida através de consulta bibliográfica e interpretação de textos jurídicos, buscando também uma perspectiva histórica, o que permitiu concluir que as práticas de compliance utilizadas efetivamente pelas empresas para monitorar o cumprimento da legislação, instituir políticas internas e códigos de ética e conduta são atitudes de responsabilidade social da empresa que permitem aos seus colaboradores e à população em geral viver em um mundo mais digno e mais respeitoso, entre outros fatores positivos. Assessing User Expertise in Spoken Dialog System Interactions

Identifying the level of expertise of its users is important for a system since it can lead to a better interaction through adaptation techniques. Furthermore, this information can be used in offline processes of root cause analysis. However, not much effort has been put into automatically identifying the level of expertise of an user, especially in dialog-based interactions. In this paper we present an approach based on a specific set of task related features. Based on the distribution of the features among the two classes - Novice and Expert - we used Random Forests as a classification approach. Furthermore, we used a Support Vector Machine classifier, in order to perform a result comparison. By applying these approaches on data from a real system, Let's Go, we obtained preliminary results that we consider positive, given the difficulty of the task and the lack of competing approaches for comparison.Comment: 10 page

Organização do trabalho pedagógico e Educação do Campo

The present article aims to indicate some of the elements that constitute the organization of the educational work specifically in schools of rural education. In order to do so, first we discuss the specificity of rural education and when doing so, we make it evident the process of buidling such rural education until its insertion in the legal documents of educational area. We distinguish the consolidation of this form of education, pointing that it is related to the rights of the people who are interested in such educational work, that is, the rural people. After considering these issues, the text directs the readers to issues related to the organization of school units, trying to show elements that give support to the operational implantation of rural education. It is important to mention that it is not only the adoption of some educational practices which garantee the consolidation the rural education, but it is also related to the rural identity, a project of society and a range of collective practices. As for the conclusion, it is necessary to point out that, being it a means or a end, the rural education is a category which is special for its particularity because it has a project againt hegemony and at the same time popular, supported by the social subjects which contitute it.O presente artigo vem indicar alguns elementos que constituem a organização do trabalho pedagógico específica das escolas e da educação do campo. Para realizar tal propósito, inicialmente, faz-se uma discussão sobre a especificidade da educação do campo e, ao se afirmar tal premissa, evidencia-se também o processo de construção dessa educação do campo até sua inserção nos documentos legais da área educacional. Distingue-se a consolidação dessa modalidade educativa, mostrando que a mesma está vinculada aos interessados diretos, ou seja, os sujeitos do campo. Após tais considerações, o texto se encaminha para questões inerentes à organização das unidades escolares, buscando evidenciar elementos que dão sustentação para a implantação operacional da educação do campo. Vale salientar que não é somente a adoção de algumas práticas educativas que garantem a consolidação da educação do campo. Ela é perpassada pela identidade camponesa, por um projeto de sociedade e por um rol de práticas coletivas. Conclusivamente, é necessário destacar que, seja como atividade meio ou como atividade fim, a educação do campo é uma categoria que se destaca em sua particularidade justamente por possuir um projeto contra-hegemônico e popular, sustentado pelos sujeitos sociais que a constitui. As ruas contra o neoliberalismo? Manifestações em 2019 na América Latina, foco no Chile

Em torno do conceito de movimento antissistêmico, figuram distintas categorizações sobre os movimentos sociais. Iniciando com considerações conceituais, o artigo localiza, no ano de 2019, uma série de manifestações nas ruas da América Latina. Faz considerações mais específicas sobre o caso chileno, com a exposição de fotografia das ruas de Santiago e Valparaiso.
