Estrutura de capital
RESUMO: Desde a obra seminal de Modigliani e Miller (1958), a discussão sobre a Estrutura de Capital gira em torno da existência ou não de uma estrutura ótima de capital. Nesse sentido, é importante compreender como a pesquisa sobre esse assunto foi conduzida no Brasil ao longo dos anos, a fim de identificar possíveis lacunas e oportunidades de pesquisa na área. Este estudo objetivou identificar as principais teorias adotadas no tocante à estrutura de capital em produções científicas brasileiras, adotando-se como método a análise bibliométrica, realizada a partir das publicações encontradas nos periódicos científicos nacionais com classificação “A” na área de Administração, Ciências Contábeis e Turismo, segundo os critérios Quali (Capes). Baseando-nos nas evidências encontradas, foi possível inferir que os pesquisadores sobre estrutura de capital no Brasil apresentam a tendência de serem doutores, pertencerem a uma instituição de ensino superior das Regiões Sul e Sudeste, e pesquisar as teorias do Pecking Order e/ou do Trade-off. Isso reflete o avanço do debate com o surgimento de novas teorias sobre a existência ou não de uma estrutura ótima de capital.

ABSTRACT: Since Modigliani and Miller’s seminal work in 1958, the debate about Capital Structure revolves around the existence or not of optimal capital structure. Therefore, it is important to understand how research about this subject was conducted in Brazil over the years, in order to identify possible gaps and research opportunities in the area. This study aimed to identify the main theories adopted at the capital structure in Brazilian scientific researches, conducting a bibliometric survey based on publications in the national scientific journals with quality "A" in the area of Administration, Accounting Sciences and Tourism, according to the Quali (Capes) criteria. Based on the evidence, it was possible to infer that researchers on capital structure in Brazil tend to be doctors, belong to a higher education institution of the South and Southeast regions, and research, most of the time, the Pecking Order and Trade-off theories. The result suggests that there is a progress on the debate about capital structure, and also points out the emergence of some new theories about the existence or not of optimal capital structure.

ATENÇÃO PRIMÁRIA À SAÚDE: PRODUÇÃO CIENTÍFICA BRASILEIRA NOS PERIÓDICOS DE ADMINISTRAÇÃO
Objetivou-se fazer uma revisão dos estudos sobre Atenção Primária à Saúde (APS) nos periódicos sobre saúde classificados no Quali-Capes de administração, no período de 2002 a 2012. Para tanto, os artigos foram classificados de acordo com a abordagem, natureza, procedimentos metodológicos, abrangência e formação dos autores. Após classificação e os dados tabulados, através do software SPSS® v. 21 foi feita a Análise de Frequência e o cruzamento das categorias em Autores e Abordagem, Abrangência e Autores, Autores e Metodologia, Abrangência e Abordagem e Metodologia e Abordagem. Por fim, realizou-se o teste qui-quadrado para independência, para validar os resultados encontrados. Os resultados apontam que os estudos sobre a APS são realizados, em grande parte, por autores da área de saúde, com abordagem qualitativa focada nos municípios e, na maioria, sem interdisciplinaridade. Cerca de 70% são artigos empíricos, na maioria das vezes, estudos de caso usados para avaliar a Estratégia Saúde da Família (ESF) nos municípios. São identificadas oportunidades de pesquisa na área de administração pública que proporcionem capacidade de comparação entre a gestão da saúde nos municípios e estados brasileiros
ESTRATÉGIAS COMPETITIVAS DA REDE MCDONALD’S: UMA ANÁLISE FÍLMICA
Este estudo, da área de estratégia, teve como objetivo observar as estratégias competitivas das redes de franquias como ferramenta de expansão de negócio. Para tanto, foi utilizada a análise do filme Fome de Poder à luz dos conceitos da estratégia competitiva de Porter (1980) e do modelo de franchising como estratégia de negócio. Como resultados da análise fílmica, pode-se afirmar que a estratégia competitiva utilizada pelo fundador é eficaz, segundo os conceitos de Porter (1980). O modelo de franchising criado por Kroc pré-estabelece ações ofensivas para expansão do restaurante, alcançando uma posição sustentável e lucrativa dentro da indústria de alimentos. A estratégia que mais se destacou no estudo foi a diferenciação, que foi alcançada pelo McDonald’s por meio de várias formas. Our study compared the effectiveness of two empowerment-based approaches toward blood pressure (BP) reduction: salt reduction-specific program vs. healthy lifestyle general program. Methods: Three hundred and eleven adults (median age of 44 years, IQR 34–54 years) were randomly assigned to a salt reduction (n = 147) or a healthy lifestyle program (n = 164). The outcome measures were urinary sodium (Na+) and potassium (K+) excretion, systolic (SBP) and diastolic (DBP) blood pressure, weight, and waist circumference. Results: There were no significant differences in primary and secondary outcomes between the two program groups. When comparing each program to baseline, the program focused on salt reduction was effective in lowering BP following a 12-week intervention with a mean change of −2.5 mm Hg in SBP (95% CI, −4.1 to −0.8) and − 2.7 mm Hg in DBP (95% CI, −3.8 to −1.5) in the intention-to-treat (ITT) analysis. In the complete-case (CC) analysis, the mean change was −2.1 mm Hg in SBP (95% CI, −3.7 to −0.5) and − 2.3 mm Hg in DBP (95% CI, −3.4 to −1.1). This effect increases in subjects with high-normal BP or hypertension [SBP − 7.9 mm Hg (95% CI, −12.5 to −3.3); DBP − 7.3 mm Hg (95% CI, −10.2 to −4.4)]. The healthy lifestyle group also exhibited BP improvements after 12 weeks; however, the changes were less pronounced compared to the salt reduction group and were observed only for DBP [mean change of −1.5 mm Hg (95% CI, −2.6 to −0.4) in ITT analysis and − 1.4 mm Hg (95% CI, −2.4 to −0.3) in CC analysis, relative to baseline]. Overall, improvements in Na+/K+ ratio, weight, and Mediterranean diet adherence resulted in clinically significant SBP decreases. Importantly, BP reduction is attributed to improved dietary quality, rather than being solely linked to changes in the Na+/K+ ratio. Conclusion: Salt-focused programs are effective public health tools mainly in managing individuals at high risk of hypertension. Consenso brasileiro para o tratamento da esclerose múltipla : Academia Brasileira de Neurologia e Comitê Brasileiro de Tratamento e Pesquisa em Esclerose Múltipla
O crescent arsenal terapêutico na esclerose múltipla (EM) tem permitido tratamentos mais efetivos e personalizados, mas a escolha e o manejo das terapias modificadoras da doença (TMDs) tem se tornado cada vez mais complexos. Neste contexto, especialistas do Comitê Brasileiro de Tratamento e Pesquisa em Esclerose Múltipla e do Departamento Científico de Neuroimunologia da Academia Brasileira de Neurologia reuniram-se para estabelecer este Consenso Brasileiro para o Tratamento da EM, baseados no entendimento de que neurologistas devem ter a possibilidade de prescrever TMDs para EM de acordo com o que é melhor para cada paciente, com base em evidências e práticas atualizadas. Por meio deste documento, propomos recomendações práticas para o tratamento da EM, com foco principal na escolha e no manejo das TMDs, e revisamos os argumentos que embasam as estratégias de tratamento na EM.The expanding therapeutic arsenal in multiple sclerosis (MS) has allowed for more effective and personalized treatment, but the choice and management of disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) is becoming increasingly complex. In this context, experts from the Brazilian Committee on Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis and the Neuroimmunology Scientific Department of the Brazilian Academy of Neurology have convened to establish this Brazilian Consensus for the Treatment of MS, based on their understanding that neurologists should be able to prescribe MS DMTs according to what is better for each patient, based on up-to-date evidence and practice. We herein propose practical recommendations for the treatment of MS, with the main focus on the choice and management of DMTs, as well as present a review of the scientific rationale supporting therapeutic strategies in MS
SARS-CoV-2 introductions and early dynamics of the epidemic in Portugal
Genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 in Portugal was rapidly implemented by
the National Institute of Health in the early stages of the COVID-19 epidemic, in collaboration
with more than 50 laboratories distributed nationwide.
Methods By applying recent phylodynamic models that allow integration of individual-based
travel history, we reconstructed and characterized the spatio-temporal dynamics of SARSCoV-2 introductions and early dissemination in Portugal.
Results We detected at least 277 independent SARS-CoV-2 introductions, mostly from
European countries (namely the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Italy, and Switzerland),
which were consistent with the countries with the highest connectivity with Portugal.
Although most introductions were estimated to have occurred during early March 2020, it is
likely that SARS-CoV-2 was silently circulating in Portugal throughout February, before the
first cases were confirmed.
Conclusions Here we conclude that the earlier implementation of measures could have
minimized the number of introductions and subsequent virus expansion in Portugal. This
study lays the foundation for genomic epidemiology of SARS-CoV-2 in Portugal, and highlights the need for systematic and geographically-representative genomic surveillance.We gratefully acknowledge to Sara Hill and Nuno Faria (University of Oxford) and

Pervasive gaps in Amazonian ecological research
Biodiversity loss is one of the main challenges of our time,1,2 and attempts to address it require a clear un derstanding of how ecological communities respond to environmental change across time and space.3,4
While the increasing availability of global databases on ecological communities has advanced our knowledge
of biodiversity sensitivity to environmental changes,5–7 vast areas of the tropics remain understudied.8–11 In
the American tropics, Amazonia stands out as the world’s most diverse rainforest and the primary source of
Neotropical biodiversity,12 but it remains among the least known forests in America and is often underrepre sented in biodiversity databases.13–15 To worsen this situation, human-induced modifications16,17 may elim inate pieces of the Amazon’s biodiversity puzzle before we can use them to understand how ecological com munities are responding. To increase generalization and applicability of biodiversity knowledge,18,19 it is thus
crucial to reduce biases in ecological research, particularly in regions projected to face the most pronounced
environmental changes. We integrate ecological community metadata of 7,694 sampling sites for multiple or ganism groups in a machine learning model framework to map the research probability across the Brazilian
Amazonia, while identifying the region’s vulnerability to environmental change. 15%–18% of the most ne glected areas in ecological research are expected to experience severe climate or land use changes by
2050. This means that unless we take immediate action, we will not be able to establish their current status,
