The SCUBA-2 Web Survey: I. Observations of CO(3-2) in hyper-luminous QSO fields
A primary goal of the SCUBA-2 Web survey is to perform tomography of the
early inter-galactic medium by studying systems containing some of the
brightest quasi-stellar objects (QSOs; 2.5<z<3.0) and nearby submillimetre
galaxies. As a first step, this paper aims to characterize the galaxies that
host the QSOs. To achieve this, a sample of 13 hyper-luminous (L_AGN>10^14
L_odot) QSOs with previous submillimetre continuum detections were followed up
with CO(3-2) observations using the NOEMA interferometer. All but two of the
QSOs are detected in CO(3-2); for one non-detection, our observations show a
tentative 2sigma line at the expected position and redshift, and for the other
non-detection we find only continuum flux density an order of magnitude
brighter than the other sources. In three of the fields, a companion
potentially suitable for tomography is detected in CO line emission within 25
arcsec of the QSO. We derive gas masses, dynamical masses and far-infrared
luminosities, and show that the QSOs in our sample have similar properties as
compared to less luminous QSOs and SMGs in the literature, despite the fact
that their black-hole masses (which are proportional to L_AGN) are 1-2 orders
of magnitude larger. We discuss two interpretations of these observations: this
is due to selection effects, such as preferential face-on viewing angles and
picking out objects in the tail ends of the scatter in host-galaxy mass and
black-hole mass relationships; or the black hole masses have been overestimated

Effects of Home Exercise on Immediate and Delayed Affect and Mood Among Rural Individuals at Risk for Type 2 Diabetes
Physical activity is important for reducing overweight and obesity and related health consequences. This study examined changes in mood following 16 weeks of exercise in a sample of 29 individuals residing in a rural area and at risk for developing Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Significant positive mood changes were detected, with moderate to large effect sizes. Assessments also revealed significant delayed postexercise positive emotion changes. These findings extend research on the mood benefits of exercise to individuals residing in rural settings and at risk for T2DM and suggest that to gain a full understanding of the exercise-affect relation, investigators need to assess affect at delayed intervals following exercise

Dynamic and Thermodynamic Influences on Precipitation in Northeast Mexico on Orbital to Millennial Timescales
The timing and mechanisms of past hydroclimate change in northeast Mexico are poorly constrained, limiting our ability to evaluate climate model performance. To address this, we present a multiproxy speleothem record of past hydroclimate variability spanning 62.5 to 5.1 ka from Tamaulipas, Mexico. Here we show a strong influence of Atlantic and Pacific sea surface temperatures on orbital and millennial scale precipitation changes in the region. Multiple proxies show no clear response to insolation forcing, but strong evidence for dry conditions during Heinrich Stadials. While these trends are consistent with other records from across Mesoamerica and the Caribbean, the relative importance of thermodynamic and dynamic controls in driving this response is debated. An isotope-enabled climate model shows that cool Atlantic SSTs and stronger easterlies drive a strong inter-basin sea surface temperature gradient and a southward shift in moisture convergence, causing drying in this region

Cross-National Differences in Victimization : Disentangling the Impact of Composition and Context
Varying rates of criminal victimization across countries are assumed to be the outcome of countrylevel structural constraints that determine the supply ofmotivated oĀ”enders, as well as the differential composition within countries of suitable targets and capable guardianship. However, previous empirical tests of these ācompositionalā and ācontextualā explanations of cross-national diĀ”erences
have been performed upon macro-level crime data due to the unavailability of comparable individual-level data across countries. This limitation has had two important consequences for cross-national crime research. First, micro-/meso-level mechanisms underlying cross-national differences cannot be truly inferred from macro-level data. Secondly, the eĀ”ects of contextual measures (e.g. income inequality) on crime are uncontrolled for compositional heterogeneity. In this
paper, these limitations are overcome by analysing individual-level victimization data across 18 countries from the International CrimeVictims Survey. Results from multi-level analyses on theft and violent victimization indicate that the national level of income inequality is positively related to risk, independent of compositional (i.e. micro- and meso-level) diĀ”erences. Furthermore, crossnational variation in victimization rates is not only shaped by diĀ”erences in national context, but
also by varying composition. More speciĀ¢cally, countries had higher crime rates the more they consisted of urban residents and regions with lowaverage social cohesion.
The JCMT BISTRO Survey: A Spiral Magnetic Field in a Hub-filament Structure, Monoceros R2
We present and analyze observations of polarized dust emission at 850 Ī¼m toward the central 1
7 1 pc hub-filament structure of Monoceros R2 (Mon R2). The data are obtained with SCUBA-2/POL-2 on the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) as part of the B-fields in Star-forming Region Observations survey. The orientations of the magnetic field follow the spiral structure of Mon R2, which are well described by an axisymmetric magnetic field model. We estimate the turbulent component of the magnetic field using the angle difference between our observations and the best-fit model of the underlying large-scale mean magnetic field. This estimate is used to calculate the magnetic field strength using the DavisāChandrasekharāFermi method, for which we also obtain the distribution of volume density and velocity dispersion using a column density map derived from Herschel data and the C18O (J = 3 - 2) data taken with HARP on the JCMT, respectively. We make maps of magnetic field strengths and mass-to-flux ratios, finding that magnetic field strengths vary from 0.02 to 3.64 mG with a mean value of 1.0 \ub1 0.06 mG, and the mean critical mass-to-flux ratio is 0.47 \ub1 0.02. Additionally, the mean Alfv\ue9n Mach number is 0.35 \ub1 0.01. This suggests that, in Mon R2, the magnetic fields provide resistance against large-scale gravitational collapse, and the magnetic pressure exceeds the turbulent pressure. We also investigate the properties of each filament in Mon R2. Most of the filaments are aligned along the magnetic field direction and are magnetically subcritical
Current preventive strategies and management of Epstein-Barr virus-related post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease in solid organ transplantation in Europe. Results of the ESGICH Questionnaire-based Cross-sectional Survey
There is limited clinical evidence on the utility of the monitoring of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNAemia in the pre-emptive management of post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease (PTLD) in solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients. We investigated current preventive measures against EBV-related PTLD through a web-based questionnaire sent to 669 SOT programmes in 35 European countries. This study was performed on behalf of the ESGICH study group from the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. A total of 71 SOT programmes from 15 European countries participated in the study. EBV serostatus of the recipient is routinely obtained in 69/71 centres (97%) and 64 (90%) have access to EBV DNAemia assays. EBV monitoring is routinely used in 85.9% of the programmes and 77.4% reported performing pre-emptive treatment for patients with significant EBV DNAemia levels. Pre-emptive treatment for EBV DNAemia included reduction of immunosuppression in 50.9%, switch to mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitors in 30.9%, and use of rituximab in 14.5% of programmes. Imaging by whole-body 18-fluoro-deoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) is used in 60.9% of centres to rule out PTLD and complemented computer tomography is used in 50%. In 10.9% of centres, FDG-PET is included in the first-line diagnostic workup in patients with high-risk EBV DNAemia. Despite the lack of definitive evidence, EBV load measurements are frequently used in Europe to guide diagnostic workup and pre-emptive reduction of immunosuppression. We need prospective and controlled studies to define the impact of EBV monitoring in reducing the risk of PTLD in SOT recipients
The JCMT BISTRO Survey: Studying the Complex Magnetic Field of L43
We present observations of polarized dust emission at 850 Ī¼m from the L43 molecular cloud, which sits in the Ophiuchus cloud complex. The data were taken using SCUBA-2/POL-2 on the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope as a part of the BISTRO large program. L43 is a dense (NH 10
22 2 ~ ā1023 cmā2) complex molecular cloud with a submillimeter-bright starless core and two protostellar sources. There appears to be an evolutionary gradient along the isolated filament that L43 is embedded within, with the most evolved source closest to the Sco OB2 association. One of the protostars drives a CO outflow that has created a cavity to the southeast. We see a magnetic field that appears to be aligned with the cavity walls of the outflow, suggesting interaction with the outflow. We also find a magnetic field strength of up to ā¼160 Ā± 30 Ī¼G in the main starless core and up to ā¼90 Ā± 40 Ī¼G in the more diffuse, extended region. These field strengths give magnetically super- and subcritical values, respectively, and both are found to be roughly trans-AlfvĆ©nic. We also present a new method of data reduction for these denser but fainter objects like starless cores
