Some factors that affect the communicative English activities in students of ninth grade from the afternoon class at Montelimar High School during the second semester of 2012

Nowadays, it is essential to learn the English language. English has become the global language of communication. Furthermore, it is one of the greatest used in the world and it is the official language or has a special status in more than 75 countries around the world. Learning English is not a luxury but a need. Often, in the teaching-learning process teachers are concerned about the following aspects: what objectives are achieved, what to teach, what method or approach to use. In contrast, the students learn what strategies to use to achieve their goals and develop the skills to learn effectively. English teachers should make decisions all the time. English teachers have to use new and appropriate methodology as a means of reinforcing learning. They must motivate students to improve their performance in their English speaking and to communicate freely and spontaneously in the English language. To achieve this goal, we have to considerer not only what kind of methods and didactic materials teacher are using, but also know which of these methods and didactic materials are suitable in the students´ learning process. Students come from diverse backgrounds and have diverse needs and goals. With adolescent language learners, different elements such as methods, didactic materials, classroom environment, and psychological factors can negatively influence in the students’ learning

Necessary conditions for the positivity of Littlewood-Richardson and plethystic coefficients

We give necessary conditions for the positivity of Littlewood-Richardson coefficients and SXP coefficients. We deduce necessary conditions for the positivity of the plethystic coefficients. Explicitly, our main result states that if $S^\lambda(V)$ appears as a summand in the decomposition into irreducibles of $S^\mu(S^\nu(V))$, then $\nu$'s diagram is contained in $\lambda$'s diagram.Comment: 11 pages, 7 figure

El frau en l'assegurança de l'automòbil

En aquesta conferència les autores ens presenten un treball relacionat amb la recerca del desenvolupament d'innovacions pel sector d'assegurances del país. Presenten una anàlisi de la situació present de les empreses d'assegurances i de les situacions d'oportunisme i d'informació asimètrica a les quals queden sotmeses en cadascuna de les col·lisions i els sinistres que succeeixen. En aquesta investigació s'ha creat un sistema alternatiu a l'americà per a classificar i identificar els fraus. Consisteix en una metodologia en què es detecten els nivells de sospita de fraudulència en les reclamacions d'accidents, la qual cosa fa que l'esforç per part de les asseguradores a l'hora de classificar sinistres quedi altament disminuït.This paper presents a study of insurance industry improvements. The research takes into consideration the current situation of the insurance businesses in order to identify opportunistic behaviour and asymmetries between the parts of an accident. The study established an alternative American methodology addressed to classifying and identifying fraud, seeking to provide a breakdown of fraud cases and facilitate their handling by insurance companies

Conociendo la experiencia de choco, una secuencia didáctica de enfoque comunicativo, para la comprensión lectora de textos narrativos, en niños y niñas de grado primero y segundo de la Institución Educativa Santa Sofía del municipio de Dosquebradas

Es importante aclarar que la investigación surge en el Macroproyecto de investigación en Didáctica del Lenguaje, el cual hace parte de las líneas de investigación de la Maestría en Educación, de la Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira. La lectura aún sigue considerándose en la escuela como una práctica escolar, que poco tiene que ver con lo que se hace con ella en la vida real, de allí surge el interés de esta investigación que tuvo como objetivo, determinar la incidencia de una secuencia didáctica, de enfoque comunicativo, en la comprensión lectora de textos narrativos, con estudiantes de los grados 1° y 2°, de la Institución Educativa Santa Sofía, del municipio de Dosquebradas, y reflexionar sobre las prácticas de enseñanza del lenguaje, a partir de la implementación de la secuencia didáctica. Con el fin de dar respuesta a la pregunta y objetivos de la investigación, se tuvieron en cuenta los aportes teóricos de autores como Vigotsky, Lerner, Bautista y Cortés, Hymes, Camps, Schön, Perrenaud, entre otros. Esta investigación es de tipo cuantitativo, con un diseño cuasi-experimental, intragrupo, de tipo pre-test-pos-test en el que participaron dos grupos de estudiantes de los grados 1° y 2° de la institución educativa ya mencionada, a quienes se les aplicó una prueba de comprensión lectora, antes y después de la implementación de la secuencia didáctica, con el fin de evaluar el nivel de desempeño de los estudiantes en las cuatro dimensiones propuestas: plano de la narración, plano de la historia, plano del relato y contexto comunicativo . El cuestionario fue validado a través de prueba piloto y juicio de expertos. Luego se llevó a cabo el análisis cuantitativo de la información, utilizando la estadística inferencial, aplicando el estadígrafo T-Student, el cual permitió validar la hipótesis de trabajo, lo que llevó a concluir que la secuencia didáctica de enfoque comunicativo incidió de manera significativa en la comprensión lectora de textos narrativos, en las cuatro dimensiones abordadas (contexto comunicativo, plano de la narración, plano de la historia y plano del relato), evidenciándose que los estudiantes pasaron de un nivel medio en el pre-test, a un nivel alto en el pos-test. Estos resultados corroboran la potencia de las secuencias didácticas, ya que a través de ellas se logra una mayor efectividad en los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje, y una mayor participación de los estudiantes y la comunidad educativa. Además de analizar los desempeños de los estudiantes, se llevó a cabo una reflexión de las prácticas de enseñanza del lenguaje de las docentes investigadoras, para lo cual se hizo uso de un diario de campo, en el que las docentes registraban sus observaciones, después de finalizar cada una de las sesiones de la secuencia didáctica; este ejercicio que estuvo sustentado desde las propuestas teóricas de Perrenaud (2007) y Schön (1998) permitió a las docentes evidenciar las concepciones respecto a la didáctica del lenguaje, y la manera como algunas de ellas se fueron transformando en el desarrollo de la propuesta con los estudiantes

Operaciones del Sistema Financiero Nacional: Análisis de riesgos de la cartera comercial del Banco de la Producción S,A (BANPRO) periodo 2012-2013, en base al cumplimiento de las normativas establecidas por la SuperIntendencia de Bancos.

La presente investigación fue un estudio documental con gran importancia para los lectores , ya que se realizó un análisis del riesgo de cumplimiento de las normativas en el banco de la producción S.A. (BANPRO) durante el período 2012-2013, para conocer los riesgos que inciden en la cartera crediticia del BANPRO, para lo cual se plantearon objetivos como analizar con base a información documental, el riesgo de cumplimiento de las normativas en la cartera comercial del BANPRO durante el periodo 2012- 2013. Para elaborar la investigación fue necesario plantearse preguntas de investigación, para darles respuestas se recurrió a libros y documentos legales, los cuales fueron de gran ayuda, además se solicitó información al banco en estudio. Para conocer si el banco cumple con las leyes y normas de regulación se realizó un caso práctico, que consistió en un análisis a la cartera crediticia del banco para conocer la tasa de morosidad que presentan los créditos y cuáles son las estrategias del banco para evitar que la cartera caiga en riesgo. Se identificaron las normativas emitidas por la superintendencia de bancos en relación al riesgo crediticio para las carteras comerciales de los bancos en Nicaragua, principalmente la Norma sobre gestión de riesgo crediticio. Se investigó los procedimientos aplicados por el banco de desarrollo respecto a los créditos comerciales algunos de éstos son los criterios de evaluación, políticas o normas como los requisitos que el cliente debe cumplir así como una evaluación del nivel de riesgo. Se realizó un análisis financiero a la cartera del banco donde se aplicaron técnicas y herramientas de análisis de cartera en el cual se determinaron diferentes elementos, se observa un riesgo de concentración de cartera alto en relación al sector comercial

Second Language Interaction among students, teacher – student and student - environment, of seventh grade “A” at Instituto Benito Salinas Gutiérrez in Dolores, Carazo and its influence in the learning of English during Second Semester of the school year 2013

The present work consists in a developed study through a period of two months August and September 2013 at Instituto Benito Salinas Gutiérrez in Dolores, Carazo. We selected a sample of 25 students from 7th grade “A”. These students have desirable characteristics such as: age and the unknowing of the English Language. For the development of this research we used three data collection tools: students’ survey, teacher and students’ interview, and class observation. The data collected was analyzed, summarized and stared in charts. In addition, we prepared graphics charts for the students and teacher interview. Our main objective consists in knowing in what ways affects or benefits the use of different types of interactions that occur inside the class. For that reason, we focused on three types of interactions that can be subject to direct observations: Interaction between teacher – student, student – student and the interaction between student–environment (classroom). During the learning of a language the interaction among people plays an important role. However, during the development of the teaching - learning pedagogical process, we cannot isolate the students from their environment where they interact. For that reason, it is very important to know and take into account if the students are affected by the environment that surrounds them during the English learning process. This work is organized only in one chapter where the main focal point is the analysis of the results of the data collection tools. The analysis includes the results of our data collection and personal conclusions and recommendations to the English teacher and future teachers so as to have more effective and successful teaching

Correlation Between Student Retention Actions and Brand Resonance in a Higher Education Institution

Research relating Consumer Based Brand Equity and students’ permanence intention in the educative institution, was performed. A descriptive correlational study was carried out, using a non-probabilistic sampling with 453 participants in total, which answered a survey that included the variables used by the Colombian National Education Ministry (Ministerio de Educación Nacional de Colombia) to measure permanence actions as well as other variables related with the brand equity model, which were specifically developed for the main purposes of this study. The most important results suggest a positive association between internationalization processes and the permanence intention in the institution; a correlation between perception of the permanence actions and the brand equity in the Superior Education Institution (IES, because of their acronym in Spanish); in the same way, a strong connection between Keller’s Brand resonance model and the Institutional Abandonment of Tinto’s. This evidenced relationship would allow the strengthening of permanence and lowering of student’s abandonment
