    More on Five Dimensional EVH Black Rings

    In this paper we continue our analysis of arXiv:1308.1478[hep-th] and study in detail the parameter space of three families of doubly spinning black ring solutions: balanced black ring, unbalanced ring and dipole-charged balanced black rings. In all these three families the Extremal Vanishing Horizon (EVH) ring appears in the vanishing limit of the dimensionful parameter of the solution which measures the ring size. We study the near horizon limit of the EVH black rings and for all three cases we find a (pinching orbifold) AdS3_3 throat with the AdS3_3 radius 2=8G5M/(3π)\ell^2=8 G_5 M/(3\pi) where MM is the ring mass and G5G_5 is the 5d Newton constant. We also discuss the near horizon limit of near-EVH black rings and show that the AdS3_3 factor is replaced with a generic BTZ black hole. We use these results to extend the EVH/CFT correspondence for black rings, a 2d CFT dual to near-EVH black rings.Comment: 30 page

    Effects of two different hip-knee-ankle-foot orthoses on postural stability in subjects with spinal cord injury : a pilot study

    Purpose Evaluation of two different hip-knee-ankle-foot orthoses (HKAFOs; medial linkage reciprocating gait orthosis [MLRGO] and isocentric reciprocating gait orthosis [IRGO]) using gait and postural stability analysis in four subjects with spinal cord injury (SCI). Overview of Literature To the best of our knowledge, no study has evaluated postural stability in subjects with SCI when using MLRGO and IRGO. Methods The relative efficacy of each orthosis was evaluated with relevant gait parameters, and an assessment of postural stability and sway during usage was made. Each analysis was conducted following an appropriate period of training and acclimatization. The gait parameters employed in the study were walking speed, cadence, and endurance; these were recorded and analyzed using current, validated methods. Postural stability was assessed using a verified force plate measurement system, and a modified Falls Efficacy Scale (mFES) was used for the measurement of postural sway and the perceived fear of falling. Results Walking speed, cadence, and endurance increased with the use of both HKAFOs. When the two types of HKAFOs were compared, all the parameters showed a slight (but not significant) increase with the use of MLRGO compared with the use of IRGO. In contrast, there were slight but insignificant improvements in postural sway with the use of IRGO. However, although there were no significant differences between the two sets of mFES scores, there was a slightly reduced fear of falling with the use of MLRGO compared with the use of IRGO in the static standing position. Conclusions It is noteworthy that meaningful interpretations of results can only be drawn if a larger sample is employed. This pilot study showed no significant data; however, the results indicate that the use of MLRGO is superior to that of IRGO in terms of potential improvement in the mobility and confidence levels of subjects with SCI

    PCSK9 SNP rs11591147 association study with coronary artery disease risk in Iran

    Pro-protein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) has been implicated in the regulation of the plasma levels of LDL-cholesterol. The SNP rs11591147 variant in PCSK9 gene is associated with low levels of LDL and reduced risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) in various populations. We therefore, investigated the association and protective role of the SNP rs11591147 with CAD in 94 patients and 94 healthy participants as controls. rs11591147 T>G was genotyped in all subjects by TaqMan Probe Real Time PCR, although we could not observe neither positive or insignificant association between SNP genotypes with CAD incidence. Allele frequencies also remained insignificant after performing comparison analyses between cases and controls. LDL-cholesterol and total cholesterol levels were not associated with the genotypes. Our data indicated that CAD or the plasma level of LDL-cholesterol was not associated with the reduction of CAD incidence in Iranian population, even in a population with high frequency of lipid-connected CAD risk factors. Prospective investigations should include more cases to accurately analyze the effect of SNP rs11591147 in protecting patients from CAD

    Physical education and sports are the integral part of education in adolescence and is a useful tool that provides opportunities for real life experiences. The purpose of this study was to assess the extent of explaining and modeling method is studying physical education in primary schools that was performed by the descriptive survey method. The population sample consisted of 100 elementary school physical education teachers in   IslamShahr on 1391-1392. Research tool was researcher made questionnaire with 30 closed questions. Cronbach's alpha reliability test (Course offered in the game, 0/865, to evaluate 0/912, to compete0.61, class management 60/0 and teaching methods 0/891) was used, Which has been named and classified according to the exploratory analysis. The result showed that there is a meaningful correlation between teaching physical science factors in terms of game, teaching methods evaluation and competitions. In teaching physical science teaching by using game, teaching and completion were factors that teachers pay more attention to them, but the teacher’s class management methods has meaningful relation to students’ completion. So we can suggest our managing suggestion in this regards

    Japanese Encephalitis Enzootic and Epidemic Risks across Australia

    Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) is an arboviral, encephalitogenic, zoonotic flavivirus characterized by its complex epidemiology whose transmission cycle involves reservoir and amplifying hosts, competent vector species and optimal environmental conditions. Although typically endemic in Asia and parts of the Pacific Islands, unprecedented outbreaks in both humans and domestic pigs in southeastern Australia emphasize the virus’ expanding geographical range. To estimate areas at highest risk of JEV transmission in Australia, ecological niche models of vectors and waterbirds, a sample of piggery coordinates and feral pig population density models were combined using mathematical and geospatial mapping techniques. These results highlight that both coastal and inland regions across the continent are estimated to have varying risks of enzootic and/or epidemic JEV transmission. We recommend increased surveillance of waterbirds, feral pigs and mosquito populations in areas where domestic pigs and human populations are present

    A quick approach for rheological evaluation of warm asphalt binders using response surface method

    This paper describes a quick approach for quantification of the effects of a chemical warm named Rediset, and its interactions with temperature and aging on the rheological properties of asphalt binders using Response Sur-face Method. The central composite method was applied to design experimental programs for three test temperature conditions, namely; very high temperature (120–180 °C), high temperature (46–82 °C), and intermediate temperature (19–31 °C). Rotational viscosity, G*/sin δ and G*sin δ were selected as parameters to assess the effects of the chemical warm additive on the rheological properties of asphalt binders for different aging conditions. Evaluation of the effects of this additive on the transformed value of G*/sin δ at high temperatures indicates that additive content has significant effect on Ln(G*/sin δ). The results for intermediate temperatures show that this additive has a positive effect on G*sin δ of asphalt binders
