From Arnao de Vergara to Vicente Menardo: new documentary records of stained glass makers in Renaissance Seville

En este artículo se examinan nuevos documentos de los maestros vidrieros Arnao de Vergara, Arnao de Flandes, Juan del Campo y Vicente Menardo, relacionados con obras hoy perdidas contratadas para la Colegiata de Osuna (Sevilla) y la Cartuja de Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz), y se publica un dibujo a pluma que atribuimos de manera hipotética al primero de estos artistas.This paper examines new documents related to the stained glass makers Arnao de Vergara, Arnao de Flandes, Juan del Campo and Vicente Menardo, concerning some lost works they contracted to make for the Collegiate Church of Osuna (Sevilla) and the Jerez de la Frontera Chapterhouse (Cádiz). Also, we publish a pen drawing which can be tentatively attributed to Arnao de Vergara

Antonio de Alfián y Juan de Oviedo el Viejo. El retablo de la Inmaculada de la Parroquia de Santa Ana de Sevilla (1573-1574)

En este artículo se documenta el retablo concertado conjuntamente por el pintor Antonio de Alfián y el entallador Juan de Oviedo el Viejo para el altar de Melchor de Horozco en la parroquia sevillana de Santa Ana. Del retablo sólo se han conservado en la actualidad las pinturas que formaron parte del conjunto, pinturas que, a pesar de haber sido atribuidas a diversos pintores, nunca se habían vinculado con el estilo de Alfián. A partir del estudio de éstas, es posible atribuirle otras obras, algunas de las cuales analizamos.This paper examines the painted and carved altarpiece made by the painter Antonio de Alfián and the “entallador” Juan de Oviedo the Elder for Melchor de Horozco in the parish church of Santa Ana in Seville. Only the paintings, however, are preserved. Never before linked to this master, these paintings allow a more complete understanding of Alfián’s somewhat unknown style. Thanks to the documentation of the altarpiece, it is now possible to attribute other works to this painter, some of which we study

En este artículo se dan a conocer nuevos documentos y obras del artista Pedro de Villegas Marmolejo (c 1519-1589), una de las fi guras centrales de la pintura sevillana de la segunda mitad del siglo XVI: los contratos de talla y pintura del retablo de la Virgen de los Remedios de la parroquia de San Vicente de Sevilla, fi rmados por Jerónimo Hernández y Villegas; un nuevo retablo que atribuimos a este último en la parroquia de Lucena del Puerto (Huelva); y dos tablas de pintura, una de ellas subastada recientemente con la atribución a Luis de Vargas, y la otra conservada en la iglesia napolitana de San Giacomo degli Spagnol

Effects of the aeration on the fluid dynamic behaviour of a multi-zone activated sludge system

Conventional wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) are necessary to modify the wastewater properties in order to make it acceptable for a safe discharge into the environment or a certain reuse purpose. Biological oxidation is the most important of the processes involved in conventional WWTP. Organic substances dissolved in the water are removed by means of bacteria presented in the biological reactor. Air is necessary to enable the reduction of the organic content of the water by the bacteria. Bubbles of air are introduced into the reactor through air diffusers. Air diffusers can account up to 70% of WWTP total energy consumption. So a deep understanding of the dynamic behaviour of the flow is necessary for optimizing the process and saving energy. A numerical analysis of the effects of the aeration in the fluid dynamics behaviour of a real multi-zone activated sludge reactor is carried out. The purpose is to identify and analyse the changes originated in the velocity field by the aeration. A numerical modelling of the activated sludge system located in San Pedro del Pinatar (Murcia, Spain) is developed throughout a general-purpose computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code. The multiphase flow is simulated with a Euler–Lagrange approach; modelling the bubbles as discrete phase. Two simulations, one with aeration and the other without it, are carried out. The numerical results show that the aeration has a notable effect in the performance of the reactor. Changes in velocity field, stagnant zones, residence time distribution or even free surface level originated by the aeration in the reactor are studied. In general, the aeration reduced the amount of stagnant volume in the reactor. However, when the aeration is activated, some re-circulating zones are formed, reducing the residence time in the reactor.The researcher team of the present work acknowledges the contribution of the company ESAMUR, owner of the biological reactor studied, which provided the experimental data necessary for the development of the numerical model presented

The main activity of the accountant is the preparation and audit of the financial information of a company. The subjective well-being of the accountant is important to ensure a balanced professional judgment and to offer a positive image of the profession in the face of the incorporation and retention of talent. However, accountants are subjected to intense pressures that affect their well-being in the performance of their tasks. In this paper, the job demands–resources theoretical framework is adopted to analyze the relationships between job demands, job resources, and the subjective well-being of a large sample of 739 accounting experts at the European level. Applying a structural equations model, the results confirm, on the one hand, the direct effects provided in the theoretical framework and, on the other, a new mediating role of job demands–subjective well-being relationship resources

Analysis of Infrastructure Funds as an Alternative Tool for the Financing of Public-Private Partnerships.

The impact of the financial crisis has reduced the scope for public investment in infrastructure within government budgets. Governments face a situation where finding new sources of funding becomes essential. In the present paper is shown a vision of infrastructure funding, where new ways of financing are explained and analyzed, focusing on the emergence of the so-called infrastructure funds. The paper provides an insight on the impact of the participation of infrastructure funds in the financing of projects. The main result is a quantitative measure of the cost of using this type of financing instead of traditional debt
