    Poor reading comprehension issue in EFL classroom among Indonesian secondary school students: Scrutinizing the causes, impacts and possible solutions

    Reading comprehension is considered a challenging part of learning English for many Indonesian secondary school students. This study aims to explore the causes, impacts, and possible solutions for poor reading comprehension issues. The study scrutinizes the issue by reviewing previous studies, in which a number of articles and books were critically analyzed. The results indicate that poor reading comprehension occurs due to three remarkable factors, which are students’ lack of motivation, low prior knowledge, and poor English vocabulary. Moreover, this issue also leads to three main adverse impacts, such as reducing students’ learning achievement, hindering students’ problem-solving skills, and inhibiting students’ future studies and careers. Therefore, in responding to the problem above, this study proposes two learning approaches, which are the Cooperative Integrated and Reading Composition (CIRC) Technique and Metacognitive Strategy

    The Effectiveness of using Short Story on Students’ reading Comprehension

    The aimed of this research was to determine tu effect of using short story on students’ reading comprehension at MAS Raudlatul Asror Tebo. There were some problems in this research. First, they they did not have comprehending in reading and were unable to understand the content of the text. Second, they had difficulty getting information from the English text. Last, they still have inadequate vocabulary. The purpose of this research was to determine the effectiveness of using short story in teaching reading. The population of this research were 14 students. The sampling technique in this research used total sampling. The sample of this research X IPS consists of 14 students. The method used in this study is a quantitative method using pre-experimental design, one group pretest-posttest The data collection technique was taken by giving pre-test and post-test in the form of a multiple choice of 25 questions. Data analysis technique to improve reading comprehension used normality test and paired sample t-test. The result of paired sample t-test showed that the significance level was 0.000<0.05, wich mean Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. So, it concluded the Short Story was effective to improve students reading comprehension at MAS Radlatul Asror Teb

    Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Research and Develepment (R&D).Untuk menghasilkan suatu produk dengan pemilihan pengembangan yang baik maka menghasilkan produk yang baik juga. Metode penelitian dan pengembangan (research and development) adalah metode penelitian yang digunakan untuk menghasilkan produk tertentu, dan menguji keefektifan produk tersebut. Model pengembangan yang digunakan adalah model ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Prosedur pengembangan ADDIE meliputi 5 tahapan yaitu: Analyze (Analisis), Design (Perancang), Develop (Pengembangan), Implement (Implementasi), Evaluate (Evaluasi). Berdasarkan hasil dari penilaian praktisi oleh guru kelas IV SDN 10 Koto Baru  mendapatkan hasil nilai 90 % dikategorikan sangat praktis. Dan Praktisi oleh siswa kelas IV SDN 10 Koto Baru mendapatkan hasil nilai 92,9% dikategorikan sangat praktis dengan memliki nilai rata-rata 91, 45 %  kategori sangat praktis. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, didapatkan hasil nilai yang tuntas  82, 35 %  yang mana terdiri dari 14 orang siswa yang tuntas KKM dan 3 orang siswa yang tidak tuntas 17, 64 %, maka bahwa video animasi ini dikategorikan efektif. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa media pembelajaran audio visual dikatakan efektif untuk digunakan oleh siswa SDN 10 Koto Baru pada saat proses pembelajaran dan meningkatkan nilai KKM sisw

    Penelitian ini ditulis untuk membuat pengembangan bahan ajar bahasa Inggris berbasis tugas untuk mahasiswa bahasa Inggris. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini untuk menghasilkan materi bahasa Inggris bagi siswa dengan valid, praktis, dan efektif. Tujuan jangka panjang penelitian ini adalah untuk membuat mahasiswa bahasa inggris mampu menguasai 16 tenses yang ada dalam grammar bahasa inggris. Bahan ajar ini dikembangkan dengan menggunakan pendekatan berbasis tugas. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian dan Pengembangan ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, dan Evaluate)

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pembelajaran bahasa indonesia yang masih belum optimal. Proses pembelajaran belum menggunakan model kooperatif tipe round table. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen. Desain penelitian ini adalah one group pretest-posttest design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas IV SD N 126 Muara Jernih Kabupaten Merangin. Sampel dalam penelitian ini diambil dengan menggunakan teknik sampling atau sampel jenuh. Teknik pengumpulan data diambil dengan memberikan pre-test dan Post-test. Sampel pada penelitian ini berjumlah 20 siswa. Penelitian dilakukan di SD N 126 Muara Jernih. Waktu dilaksanakannya penelitian ini pada semester II Tahun Ajaran 2021/2022, disesuaikan pada jadwal pembelajaran tematik muatan bahasa Indonesia kelas IV SDN 126 Muara Jernih. Berdasarkan hasil uji paired samples t test diperoleh signifikansi 0,000<0,05. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model kooperatif tipe round tabel terhadap hasil belajar siswa muatan bahasa Indonesia di kelas IV SDN 126 Muara Jernih. Berdasarkan penelitian, bahwa model kooperatif tipe round table dapat memberikan pengaruh yang sangat baik terhadap hasil belajar Bahasa Indonesia siswa. Model kooperatif tipe round table dapat digunakan guru untuk mengaitkan materi pelajaran dengan dunia nyata siswa, menjadikan siswa aktif , serta dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar sisw

    This research is attracted by the lack of maximum mastery and utilization of digital technology as an important element in 21st century learning activities, causing less than optimal achievement of learning objectives, especially Mathematics. In order to overcome these problems, it is implemented by utilizing digital technology to create teaching tools in the form of extensive teaching e-modules assisted by a book creator application that is flexible, can be accessed and operated easily to improve the quality of learning. The research employed research and development (R & D) using the ADDIE development model. The trial was carried out on the homeroom teacher of class 4 SD Negeri 20 Sitiung with data collection techniques through data analysis testing the validity, practicality and implementation of teaching e-modules. The resulting teaching e-modules obtained content, material, and language validation values with an average value of 81,52 which were categorized as very valid. The practicality of the teaching e-module gets a score of 97,5 which is categorized as very valid. That it can be concluded that the E-Modules for Teaching Broad Material with The Help of The Book Creator Application for Grade 4 Elementary School Oriented Towards Independent Learning is interesting and feasible to apply and can continue to be developed as learning innovations

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan e-LKPD berbasis 3D Pageflip professional problem solving Tema lingkungan Sahabat Kita kelas V SD. Meningkatkan semangat, konsentrasi dan keunggulan siswa dalam sistem pembelajaran adalah bagian dari tujuan ini. Hasil penelitian berupa media pembelajaran berupa e-LKPD. Jenis pekerjaan penelitian adalah Research and Development (R&D), yang berencana untuk menghadirkan produk baru dari pengembangan. Metode pengembangan ini menggunakan metode lanjutan ADDIE Analyze, Design, Deveploment, Implementation, dan Evaluation). Model ADDIE merupakan komponen lima tahap atau saling terkait, cocok untuk penelitian dan pengembangan, karena modelnya bersifat universal. Berdasarkan hasil verifikasi verifikator diperoleh persentase sebesar 80,05%, hasil praktikum pendidik dan peserta didik sebesar 93,35%, dan hasil validitas sebesar 89,29%. E-LKPD dirancang untuk menghasilkan standar yang efektif, wajar dan menarik. e-LKPD berlaku untuk proses pembelajaran di sekolah. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa antusiasme, konsentrasi dan minat siswa dapat meningkatkan dan mempengaruhi hasil belajar yang efekti

    Pengembangan LKPD Melalui Model Realistic Mathematic Education Pada Materi Pecahan Siswa Kelas IV Sekolah Dasar

    This study is driven by a desire to develop LKPD in class IV fractions using Realistic Mathematics Education, in order to increase student interest in learning and improve student learning outcomes in the content being taught. To attain this purpose, efforts must be made to establish LKPD as teaching resources through Realistic Mathematics Education. Research and Development (R&D) is the kind of study, and it follow the ADDIE development model, which has consist several stages (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The test subjects in this study were fourth grade students. Three validators carried out the assessment instrument: content, construct, and language. As a measure of learning efficacy, fill out the validation instrument sheet, the practicality sheet produced by the practitioner, and its success is assessed from student learning outcomes. The validator value obtained a value of 83 percent in the highly valid category, and the practicality value obtained a value of 91 percent in the very practical category, as a result of the development of LKPD. The results of the effectiveness score obtained a value of 82 percent, indicating that the very practical category is very useful in increasing learning outcomes.
