Evolution in the Design and Functionality of Rubrics: from “Square” Rubrics to “Federated” Rubrics
The assessment of learning remains one of the most controversial and challenging aspects for teachers. Among some recent technical solutions, methods and techniques like eRubrics emerge in an attempt to solve the situation. Understanding that all teaching contexts are different and there can be no single solution for all cases, specific measures are adapted to contexts where teachers receive support from institutions and communities of practice. This paper presents the evolution of the eRubric service [1] which started from a first experience with paper rubrics, and, with time and after several I+D+R [2] educational projects, has evolved thanks to the support of a community of practice [3] and the exchange of experiences between teachers and researchers. This paper shows the results and functionality of the eRubrics service up to the date of publicationa.)
Plan Nacional I+D+i de Excelencia 2014-17. Collaboration and the Creation of a New Journalism Commons
The history of journalism includes many and varied forms of cooperation, as far back as landmark events such as the creation of the Associated Press by five New York newspapers in 1846 to share costs related to the coverage of the Mexican-American War. What sets the current phase of collaboration apart from previous ones is the wide diffusion of networked forms of organization and production, and the transformative impact of these cooperative practices in reshaping the new media world and its under- lying social and technological infrastructure as public utilities.
This report explores the gradual development of this phenomenon and the related development of a new commons for journalism, or a collection of shared resources and communities reconfiguring the material and cultural conditions of newswork as a social practice subject to dilemmas that require cooperation. The journalism commons, often going unrecognized in the academic and public discourse on the future of media, offers a framework to make sense of the new schemes of human relations, production, and governance
Simulation tool implementing centralized and distributed algorithms for tracking acoustic targets
The goal of this document is the implementation of a software tool for the
simulation of the acoustic tracking problem over a wireless sensor network working
in a centralized or distributed manner. Its Graphical User Interface (GUI) allows
the user to configure the parameters associated to the diffusion adaptive algorithms
implemented in the simulation tool, in order to offer a visual representation of the
behavior of a real sensor network working with those settings. For illustration we
ran several simulations, which allowed us to visualize the performance of different
network configurations. The results obtained with the implemented simulation tool
show it can be very helpful to study the audio target tracking problem and ultimately
for the design of sensor networks that can guarantee certain performance criteria.
Moreover, we have developed the code for the implementation of a real acoustictracking
sensor network working in a centralized manner, using ©Libelium’sWaspmote™
sensor boards as the network nodes and using ©Libelium’s Meshlium-Xtreme™ as central
node.Ingeniería de Sistemas Audiovisuale
