The Nearshore Fish Fauna of Bonne Bay, a Fjord within Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland
A standardized survey of the nearshore fish fauna of Bonne Bay, a fjord within
Gros Morne National Park in western Newfoundland, was conducted using beach seines,
gill-nets and bottom trawls during the month of June over a seven year period (2002-
2008). The survey documents the presence of 31 fish species (in 17 taxonomic families).
Sampling sites varied in benthic habitat and associated fish assemblages. Both juvenile
and adult life history stages of Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) were present in Bonne Bay,
suggesting the presence of a local population or âbay cod stockâ. Acadian redfish
(Sebastes fasciatus) live in the bay, and may be members of a genetically differentiable
population of redfish. Striped wolfish (Anarhichas lupus), a fish species protected under
Canadaâs Species at Risk Act (SARA), inhabits Bonne Bay. Surrounded by Gros Morne
National Park, this bay with a diverse fish fauna is a focus of local stewardship and
conservation efforts
Aquatic Exercise Programs for Children and Adolescents with Cerebral Palsy: What Do We Know and Where Do We Go?
Aquatic exercise programs may be a beneficial form of therapy for children and adolescents with cerebral palsy (CP), particularly for those with significant movement limitations where land-based physical activity is difficult. The most recently published systematic review (2005) on aquatic interventions in children with CP found supportive but insufficient evidence on its effectiveness. The aim of this paper is to review recently published literature since 2005 with a focus on aquatic exercise for children with CP. In total, six new studies were published with a main focus on aerobic aquatic interventions in higher functioning children and adolescents with CP. Swimming is one of the most frequently reported physical activities in children and adolescents with CP. Therefore, information on its safety and benefits is highly needed, for those with more severe CP in particular. Research design issues are discussed to help guide future research and practice
Automated reduction of submillimetre single-dish heterodyne data from the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope using ORAC-DR
With the advent of modern multi-detector heterodyne instruments that can
result in observations generating thousands of spectra per minute it is no
longer feasible to reduce these data as individual spectra. We describe the
automated data reduction procedure used to generate baselined data cubes from
heterodyne data obtained at the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope. The system can
automatically detect baseline regions in spectra and automatically determine
regridding parameters, all without input from a user. Additionally it can
detect and remove spectra suffering from transient interference effects or
anomalous baselines. The pipeline is written as a set of recipes using the
ORAC-DR pipeline environment with the algorithmic code using Starlink software
packages and infrastructure. The algorithms presented here can be applied to
other heterodyne array instruments and have been applied to data from
historical JCMT heterodyne instrumentation.Comment: 18 pages, 13 figures, submitted to Monthly Notices of the Royal

An archival case study : revisiting the life and political economy of Lauchlin Currie
This paper forms part of a wider project to show the significance of archival material on distinguished economists, in this case Lauchlin Currie (1902-93), who studied and taught at Harvard before entering government service at the US Treasury and Federal Reserve Board as the intellectual leader of Roosevelt's New Deal, 1934-39, as FDR's White House economic adviser in peace and war, 1939-45, and as a post-war development economist. It discusses the uses made of the written and oral material available when the author was writing his intellectual biography of Currie (Duke University Press 1990) while Currie was still alive, and the significance of the material that has come to light after Currie's death
Seeing statistics at the upgraded 3.8m UK infrared telescope (UKIRT)
From 1991 until 1997, the 3.8m UK Infrared Telescope (UKIRT) underwent a
programme of upgrades aimed at improving its intrinsic optical performance.
This resulted in images with a FWHM of 0."17 at 2.2 um in September 1998. To
understand and maintain the improvements to the delivered image quality since
the completion of the upgrades programme, we have regularly monitored the
overall atmospheric seeing, as measured by radial displacements of subaperture
images (i.e. seeing-generated focus fluctuations), and the delivered image
diameters. The latter have been measured and recorded automatically since the
beginning of 2001 whenever the facility imager UFTI (UKIRT Fast Track Imager)
has been in use.
In this paper we report the results of these measurements. We investigate the
relation between the delivered image diameter and the RMS atmospheric seeing
(as measured by focus fluctuations, mentioned above). We find that the best
seeing occurs in the second half of the night, generally after 2am HST and that
the best seeing occurs in the summer between the months of July and September.
We also find that the relationship between Zrms and delivered image diameter is
uncertain. As a result Zrms frequently predicts a larger FWHM than that
measured in the images.
Finally, we show that there is no correlation between near-infrared seeing
measured at UKIRT and sub-mm seeing measured at the Caltech Submillimetre

Unfinished Business: a Review of the Implementation of the Provisions of United Nations General Assembly Resolutions 61/105 and 64/72, Related to the Management of Bottom Fisheries in Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction
In 2006 the General Assembly adopted resolution 61/105, based on a compromise proposal offered by deep-sea fishing nations, which committed States and regional fisheries management organisations [RFMOs] to take specific measures to protect vulnerable marine ecosystems [VMEs] from the adverse impacts of bottom fisheries in the high seas and to ensure the longterm sustainability of deep-sea fish stocks. These measures included conducting impact assessments to determine whether significant adverse impacts[SAIs] to VMEs would occur, managing fisheries to prevent SAIs on VMEs, and closing areas of the high seas to bottom fishing where VMEs are known or likely to occur, unless regulations are in place to prevent SAIs and to manage sustainably deep-sea fish stocks. Based on a review in 2009 of the actions taken by States and RFMOS, the UNGA adoptedresolution 64/72 that reaffirmed resolution 61/105 and strengthened the call for action through committing States, inter alia, to ensure that vessels do not engage in bottom fishing until impact assessments have been carried out and to not authorise bottom fishing activities until the measures in resolutions 64/72 and 61/105 have been adopted andimplemented
CHIMPS: the <sup>13</sup>CO/C<sup>18</sup>O (<i>J</i> = 3 â 2) Heterodyne Inner Milky Way Plane Survey
We present the 13CO/C18O (J = 3 â 2) Heterodyne Inner Milky Way Plane Survey (CHIMPS) which has been carried out using the Heterodyne Array Receiver Program on the 15 m James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) in Hawaii. The high-resolution spectral survey currently covers |b| †0.5° and 28° âČ l âČ 46°, with an angular resolution of 15 arcsec in 0.5 km s-1 velocity channels. The spectra have a median rms of Ë0.6 K at this resolution, and for optically thin gas at an excitation temperature of 10 K, this sensitivity corresponds to column densities of NH2 Ë 3 Ă 1020 cm-2 and NH2 Ë 4 Ă 1021 cm-2 for 13CO and C18O, respectively. The molecular gas that CHIMPS traces is at higher column densities and is also more optically thin than in other publicly available CO surveys due to its rarer isotopologues, and thus more representative of the three-dimensional structure of the clouds. The critical density of the J = 3 â 2 transition of CO is âł104 cm-3 at temperatures of â€20 K, and so the higher density gas associated with star formation is well traced. These data complement other existing Galactic plane surveys, especially the JCMT Galactic Plane Survey which has similar spatial resolution and column density sensitivity, and the Herschel infrared Galactic Plane Survey. In this paper, we discuss the observations, data reduction and characteristics of the survey, presenting integrated-emission maps for the region covered. Position-velocity diagrams allow comparison with Galactic structure models of the Milky Way, and while we find good agreement with a particular four-arm model, there are some significant deviations

Bump start needed: linking guidelines, policy and practice in promoting physical activity during and beyond pregnancy
First paragraph: There is compelling evidence that regular physical activity (PA) during pregnancy benefits both mother and baby.1 2 Notably, physical and psychological benefits are evident in the literature, such as marked reductions in the development of gestational diabetes and hypertensive disorders, alongside improvements in depressive symptoms and cardiorespiratory fitness.1 2 The evidence base has been reflected by recent policy initiatives, for example, in 2017 (relaunched in 2019), the UKâs chief medical officers (CMOs) published PA guidelines for pregnant women, which made substantial strides in unifying and translating the evidence into recommendations.1 The CMO guidelines are aimed at supporting health professionals to provide consistent, evidence-based PA messages to women throughout pregnancy.1 Recently, the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity have updated their professional standards for working with antenatal and postnatal clients to align with these CMO guidelines.3 However, not all women have access to professionals with this level of expertise and training, potentially limiting the impact of the CMO guidelines
