    Horizontes educativos de los videojuegos : propuestas y reflexiones de futuros maestros y educadores sociales

    El videojuego concebido como juego electrónico en el que interactuar una o varias personas, y además hacerlo de forma tanto en línea como fuera de línea, es un instrumento que incluye diversos tipos de lenguajes, no solo el visual, sino también el sonoro, el literario, el gestual… todos ellos a elección del creador del mismo y de los usuarios. El carácter multilenguaje, junto con otras características como la interactividad, la digitalización, etc., los configura como una atractiva herramienta educativa con innumerables posibilidades formativas.Partiendo de la premisa de que la educación y la formación no pueden dar la espalda a la cultura y tecnología de su época, realizamos un estudio basado en una encuesta sobre los usos que hacen los futuros maestros, maestras y educadores sociales en formación de los videojuegos, su capacidad para integrarlos en el contexto educativo y la formación autopercibida para hacer un uso crítico y reflexivo de los mismos. De los resultados obtenidos se desprende que la mayoría de los participantes muestran una actitud muy favorable a la incorporación de los videojuegos en el ámbito educativo, si bien manifiestan presentar deficiencias en cuanto a su formación en competencias mediáticas para llevar a cabo una correcta integración curricular de los videojuegos.Video games are electronic games in which one or more players interact either online or offline and in which visual language and literary language, as well as sound and gestures, interact; all of which are chosen by the creator and users. The multi-language nature of video games, alongside other features such as interactivity and digitalization, make these games an attractive teaching tool with countless educational possibilities.Based on the premise that education and training must take into account culture and technology, we conducted a study using a survey of future teachers and social educators regarding the use of video games, their ability to integrate them into the educational setting and their perception of training in the critical and reflective use of video games. The results show that the participants are very favorable to the incorporation of video games in education, although they lack training in media skills to properly integrate video games into the curriculum.Els videojocs són el resultat de la interacció de diferents llenguatges: el visual, el del so, el literari, el gestual... Creen un univers canviant i mal·leable en mans del seu creador o usuaris. Amb una potent capacitat multimèdia i transmèdia, poden ser una eina atractiva amb grans possibilitats educatives.Partint de la premissa que l'educació i la formació no poden donar l'esquena a la cultura i tecnologia de la seva època, vam realitzar un estudi basat en enquestes sobre l'ús que fan dels videojocs els futurs mestres, mestres i educadors socials en formació, la seva capacitat per integrar-los en el context educatiu i la formació autopercebuda per fer-ne un ús crític i reflexiu. Dels resultats obtinguts es desprèn que els participants majoritàriament mostren una actitud molt favorable a la incorporació dels videojocs a l'àmbit educatiu, si bé manifesten presentar deficiències quant a la seva formació en competències mediàtiques per dur a terme una correcta integració curricular dels videojocs

    Educational strategies to promote adherence to treatment in patients with cardiovascular disease

    INTRODUCTION: Educational material is a key strategy for primary health care promotion. PURPOSE: To design and validate educational material adapted to the population and aimed to increase knowledge about adherence to the treatment of arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus. METHODOLOGY: Methodological study for the design of educational material for people with diabetes mellitus and high blood pressure. For the design, content validity tests were carried out, with the participation of six experts in health education and six patients with chronic diseases. Validation was performed pursuant to the attraction, understanding, engagement, and acceptance criteria. RESULTS: The validation confirmed that all items and criteria were above the minimal expected range. CONCLUSION: The design and validation of educational material provide elements that improve the education of patients about their pathologies and their adherence to treatment.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

    Extraordinarily transparent compact metallic metamaterials

    The design of achromatic optical components requires materials with high transparency and low dispersion. We show that although metals are highly opaque, densely packed arrays of metallic nanoparticles can be more transparent to infrared radiation than dielectrics such as germanium, even when the arrays are over 75% metal by volume. Such arrays form effective dielectrics that are virtually dispersion-free over ultra-broadband ranges of wavelengths from microns up to millimeters or more. Furthermore, the local refractive indices may be tuned by altering the size, shape, and spacing of the nanoparticles, allowing the design of gradient-index lenses that guide and focus light on the microscale. The electric field is also strongly concentrated in the gaps between the metallic nanoparticles, and the simultaneous focusing and squeezing of the electric field produces strong 'doubly-enhanced' hotspots which could boost measurements made using infrared spectroscopy and other non-linear processes over a broad range of frequencies

    Reduction of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus biofilm growth and development using arctic berry extracts

    IntroductionSurgical site infection remains a devastating and feared complication of surgery caused mainly by Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). More specifically, methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) infection poses a serious threat to global health. Therefore, developing new antibacterial agents to address drug resistance are urgently needed. Compounds derived from natural berries have shown a strong antimicrobial potential.MethodsThis study aimed to evaluate the effect of various extracts from two arctic berries, cloudberry (Rubus chamaemorus) and raspberry (Rubus idaeus), on the development of an MRSA biofilm and as treatment on a mature MRSA biofilm. Furthermore, we evaluated the ability of two cloudberry seed-coat fractions, hydrothermal extract and ethanol extract, and the wet-milled hydrothermal extract of a raspberry press cake to inhibit and treat biofilm development in a wound-like medium. To do so, we used a model strain and two clinical strains isolated from infected patients.ResultsAll berry extracts prevented biofilm development of the three MRSA strains, except the raspberry press cake hydrothermal extract, which produced a diminished anti-staphylococcal effect.DiscussionThe studied arctic berry extracts can be used as a treatment for a mature MRSA biofilm, however some limitations in their use exist

    On the Mechanism of the Copper-Catalyzed Enantioselective 1,4-Addition of Grignard Reagents to α,β-Unsaturated Carbonyl Compounds

    The mechanism of the enantioselective 1,4-addition of Grignard reagents to α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds promoted by copper complexes of chiral ferrocenyl diphosphines is explored through kinetic, spectroscopic, and electrochemical analysis. On the basis of these studies, a structure of the active catalyst is proposed. The roles of the solvent, copper halide, and the Grignard reagent have been examined. Kinetic studies support a reductive elimination as the rate-limiting step in which the chiral catalyst, the substrate, and the Grignard reagent are involved. The thermodynamic activation parameters were determined from the temperature dependence of the reaction rate. The putative active species and the catalytic cycle of the reaction are discussed.
