Education is a process which helps the growth of the students. Thanks to it students can grow, develop and become adult and qualified persons in different fields of the humans ’ activity. Hence, the school educates only when it supports the students in getting and developing their own skills and when it helps them to get new attitudes towards themselves as well as the human, natural and artificial world. In this perspective, the school cannot continue to be a mere teaching-learning environment, just making frontal lessons, even if with the support of advanced multimedia technologies, but it should, indeed, focus the attention on the learning processes. This is the deepest change that the school needs. The possibilities offered by the computers in the educational field are many, especially as support in special didactics. In this sense, the access to multimedia and telematics has caused the activation of an autonomous process to build knowledge. The interpersonal exchanges mediated by the computer can break the isolation of a disabled person. Proyecto de paseo marítimo en Puerto de Sagunto (T.M. Sagunto, Valencia). Conexión con el paseo marítimo de Canet d'en Berenguer

[EN] This project, part of the final degree "PROYECTO DE PASEO MARÍTIMO EN PUERTO DE SAGUNTO (T.M. SAGUNTO, VALENCIA)" has as its main objective to create a continuity between existing rides Sagunto port and Canet d'En Berenguer . Materialize this connection provides great advantages for both municipalities. First, we highlight the current disused Delta area. With the creation of this union citizens could enjoy this environment. Second, with the creation of this connection, we improve pedestrian circulation, as the Port of Sagunto has a number of resources that Canet has not, and vice versa. This is because the residential area is concentrated in Canet and service area in Sagunto; causing traffic between the two municipalities citizens. Finally, with the completion of the two bridges over the branches of the river, we create broader sections at the mouth. This helps because if there are large avenues, water can proceed without creating flooding and damage to surrounding areas. To achieve these objectives, we will proceed to the calculation and design of wooden walkways connected with a ride on the river mouth of Palencia.[ES] El presente proyecto, perteneciente al trabajo final de grado "PROYECTO DE PASEO MARÍTIMO EN PUERTO DE SAGUNTO (T.M. SAGUNTO, VALENCIA)" tiene como principal objetivo crear una continuidad entre los paseos existentes del municipio del puerto de Sagunto y de Canet d'En Berenguer. Materializar esta conexión supone grandes ventajas para ambos municipios. En primer lugar, destacamos el desuso actual de la zona del Delta. Con la creación de esta unión los ciudadanos podrían disfrutar de este entorno. En segundo lugar, al crear esta conexión, mejoramos la circulación de peatones, ya que el Puerto de Sagunto tiene una cantidad de recursos que Canet no tiene, y viceversa. Esto se debe a que la zona residencial se concentra en Canet y la zona de servicios en Sagunto; lo que ocasiona el tránsito de ciudadanos entre ambos municipios. Por último, al realizar dos pasarelas sobre los ramales del río, creamos unas secciones más amplias en la desembocadura, en las que, en caso de grandes avenidas, el agua puede seguir su curso sin crear inundaciones y daños en las zonas colindantes. Para poder lograr todos estos objetivos, se procederá al cálculo y diseño de las pasarelas de madera unidas con un paseo, sobre la desembocadura del río Palancia.[CA] El present projecte, pertanyent al treball final de grau 'PROYECTO DE PASEO MARÍTIMO EN PUERTO DE SAGUNTO (T.M. Materialitzar aquesta connexió supossa grans avantatges per als dos municipis. En primer lloc, destaquem el desús actual de la zona del Delta. Amb la creació d' aquesta unió els ciutadans podrien gaudir d'aquest entorn. En segon lloc, en crear aquesta connexió, millorem la circulació de vianants, ja que el Port de Sagunt té una quantitat de recursos que Canet no té, i viceversa. Això es deu al fet que la zona residencial es concentra a Canet i la zona de serveis a Sagunt; el que ocasiona el trànsit de ciutadans entre els dos municipis. Finalment, en fer dues passarel ' les sobre els ramals del riu, vam crear unes seccions més àmplies a la desembocadura, en què, en cas de grans avingudes, l'aigua pot seguir el seu curs sense crear inundacions i danys en les zones confrontants. Estudio y mejora de la capacidad y funcionalidad de la intersección semaforizada en Av. Pío XII, Av. Campanar, calle Vall de la Ballestera y calle Joaquin Ballester en Valencia

[EN] This essay deals with the analysis of the semaphoric intersection of Avenida Pío XII, Avenida de Campanar, Calle de la Vall de la Ballestera and Calle Joaquín Ballester located in the city of Valencia. In order to carry out this, the document studies the capacity and and the level of service, since, it presents problems of congestion producing delays and discomforts to the users. Once these analyzes have been carried out, a series of alternatives are proposed to provide a feasible solution to the problem. In this light, the method of determination for the calculation of the capacity at traffic light intersections will be collected in this document and, on the other hand, the information obtained from the selected traffic light intersection will be captured. The methodology to be used throughout the study will be the one defined in the HCM 2010, Highway Capacity Manual 2010. Following the procedures explained in volume 3 "Interrupted Flow", chapter 18 of the HCM 2010, will proceed to evaluate the capacity and the quality of service provided to the users of the vehicles crossing the mentioned intersection. In addition to this, the methodology allows identifying the source of problems and provides a measure of strategies for their improvement. Once the calculations have been made using the HCM 2010 procedure, it is observed that the capacity obtained does not correspond to reality, so it is proposed to use a different analysis that studies the storage of the intersection. Thus, few alternatives are proposed to solve the problem and it is suggested proposals to solve the congestion produced.[CA] A aquest treball s'analitza la intersecció semaforitzada de l'Avinguda Pío XII, l'Avinguda de Campanar, el carrer de la Vall de la Ballestera i el carrer Joaquín Ballester situats a la Ciutat de València. Amb la finalitat de realitzar un estudi sobre la seva capacitat i nivell de servei, ja que, presenta problemes de congestió produint esperes així com incomoditats als usuaris. Una vegada realitzats aquests anàlisis, es proposen una serie d'alternatives per poder proporcionar una solució factible al problema. D'aquesta manera, a aquest document s'arreplegarà el mètode de determinació per al càlcul de la capacitat en interseccions semaforitzades i, d'altra banda, es plasmarà la informació obtinguda de la intersecció semaforitzada seleccionada. La metodologia que s'utilitzarà en tot l'estudi es regira per la definida en el HCM 2010, Highway Capacity Manual 2010. Seguint els procediments que s'expliquen al volum 3 "Interrupted Flow", capítol 18 del HCM 2010, es procedirà a avaluar la capacitat i la qualitat del servei que es proporciona als usuaris dels vehicles que creuen la intersecció esmentada. D'altra banda, la metodologia permet identificar la font de problemes i proporcionar una seria d¿estratègies per a la seva millora. Una vegada realitzats els càlculs mitjançant el procediment del HCM 2010, s¿observa que la capacitat obtinguda no es correspon amb la realitat, per la qual cosa, es proposa la utilització d'anàlisis que estudien l'emmagatzematge de la intersecció. D'aquesta manera, es proposen alternatives per a resoldre el problema i es realitza un estudi de les mateixes per a que es pugui resoldre la congestió produïda.[ES] En el presente trabajo se procede a analizar la intersección semaforizada de la Avenida Pío XII, la Avenida de Campanar, la Calle de la Vall de la Ballestera y Calle Joaquín Ballester situada en la ciudad de Valencia. Con el fin de realizar un estudio sobre su capacidad y nivel de servicio, ya que, presenta problemas de congestión produciendo demoras e incomodidades a los usuarios. Una vez realizados estos análisis, se propone una serie de alternativas para proporcionar una solución factible al problema. En vista de ello, se recogerá en este documento, el método de determinación para el cálculo de la capacidad en intersecciones semaforizadas y, por otro lado, se plasmará la información obtenida de la intersección semaforizada seleccionada. La metodología que se empleará en todo el estudio se regirá en la definida en el HCM 2010, Highway Capacity Manual 2010. Siguiendo los procedimientos que se explican el volumen 3 ¿Interruped Flow¿, capítulo 18 del HCM 2010, se procederá a evaluar la capacidad y la calidad del servicio que se proporciona a los usuarios de los vehículos que cruzan la intersección mencionada. Además de esto, la metodología permite identificar la fuente de problemas y proporciona una medida de estrategias para su mejora. Evaluación de una experiencia de formación docente sobre las prácticas de enseñanza como objeto de estudio

El presente trabajo es una investigación destinada a evaluar una experiencia de formación docente relacionada con las prácticas de la enseñanza como objeto de estudio.  El encuadre teórico que sustenta este estudio recibe fundamentalmente los aportes del  marco conceptual de la enseñanza para la comprensión.  Los  criterios que se utilizaron tanto para  evaluar el proceso como el resultado reflejado en  la producción final de los alumnos fueron: el grado de apropiación de los conocimientos, la inserción  de los alumnos a Instituciones de Nivel Inicial y a la compleja problemática de la práctica docente, la capacidad para poner en juego procesos reflexivos, la integración de las diferentes asignaturas del cuatrimestre  y la articulación entre teoría y práctica.Los participantes de la investigación fueron 150 alumnos de segundo año de la carrera de Profesorado en Educación Inicial

Discovery of a novel quinoxalinhydrazide with a broad-spectrum anticancer activity

Previously, we discovered a novel class of salicylhydrazide compounds with remarkable activity in hormone-dependent and -independent human cancer cells. We then designed and synthesized numerous analogues. Among these analogues, a quinoxalinhydrazide compound, SC144, exhibited desirable physicochemical and drug-like properties and therefore was selected for further preclinical investigation. In the present study, we evaluated the in vitro activity of SC144 in a range of drug-sensitive and -resistant cancer cell lines as well as its in vivo efficacy in MDA-MB-435 and HT29 mice xenograft models. The broad-spectrum cytotoxicity of SC144 is especially highlighted by its potency in ovarian cancer cells resistant to cisplatin, breast-cancer cells resistant to doxorubicin, and colon cancer cells resistant to oxaliplatin. Furthermore, its activity was independent of p53, HER-2, estrogen and androgen receptor expressions. We also examined the effect of SC144 on cell cycle progression and apoptosis in select cell lines. Considering its cytotoxicity profile in a variety of in vitro and in vivo cancer models as well as its effects on cell cycle regulation and apoptosis, SC144 appears to represent a promising agent for further clinical development

Promoting Admiration of Foucault Hiding his Defense of Rape and Pederasty

Foucault has been quoted as a great intellectual contributor to feminism and education, despite his defense of decriminalizing rape and pederasty. Since the MeToo movement, there is an increasing criticism of Foucault’s persona and works. However, in order to avoid recognizing their mistake, some authors say that Foucault’s defense of sexual violence was unknown before. This article shows this is not backed by evidence. Data was collected via interviews with 19 subjects with diverse profiles, employing the communicative methodology. The results shed light on the fact that some professors who have included Foucault’s works in their classes hid Foucault’s position in favor of sexual violence to their students. Interviewees state that there are several reasons why they think those professors hid this fact: a) the most critical thinker; b) the transgressor; c) a relativist intellectual; d) “a shield to hide behind”; and e) the idea that the intellectual must be separated from the person. This study indicates that in transmitting those images and hiding or even justifying Foucault instead of critically analyzing the implication of his works and his defense of sexual violence, perpetuating its justification, such professors act as his “hooligans”

Evaluation of the multifunctional dipeptidyl-peptidase IV and angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitory properties of a casein hydrolysate using cell-free and cell-based assays

The objective of the study was the evaluation of the potential pleiotropic effect of a commercial casein hydrolysate (CH). After an analysis of the composition, the BIOPEP-UWM database suggested that these peptides contained numerous sequences with potential inhibitory activities on angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) and dipeptidyl-peptidase IV (DPP-IV). The anti-diabetic and anti-hypertensive effects of these peptides were thus assessed using either cell-free or cell-based assays. In the cell-free system, CH displayed inhibitory properties against DPP-IV (IC50 value equal to 0.38 ± 0.01 mg/mL) and ACE (IC50 value equal to 0.39 ± 0.01 mg/mL). Further, CH reduced the DPP-IV and ACE activities expressed by human intestinal Caco-2 cells by 61.10 ± 1.70% and 76.90 ± 4.47%, respectively, versus untreated cells, after 6 h of treatment at the concentration of 5 mg/mL. This first demonstration of the multifunctional behavior of this material suggests that it may become an anti-diabetic and/or anti-hypertensive ingredient to be included in the formulation of different functional food or nutraceutics
