    Biaxial nematic order in fundamental measure theory

    Liquid crystals consisting of biaxial particles can exhibit a much richer phase behavior than their uniaxial counterparts. Usually, one has to rely on simulation results to understand the phase diagram of these systems, since very few analytical results exist. In this work, we apply fundamental measure theory, which allows to derive free energy functionals for hard particles from first principles and with quantitative accuracy, to systems of hard cylinders, cones and spherotriangles. We provide a general recipe for incorporating biaxial liquid crystal order parameters into fundamental measure theory and use this framework to obtain the phase boundaries for the emergence of orientational order in the considered systems. Our results provide insights into the phase behavior of biaxial nematic liquid crystals, and in particular into methods for their analytical investigation

    A new design of photonic transmitter for terahertz spectroscopy and imaging applications

    In this paper we present the Design of Continuous Wave Terahertz photonic transmitter based on photodetector, THz antenna, and low-pass filter (LPF) and Direct Current “DC” Probe Bias. Before validating the whole system, we processed firstly with the optimization of the antenna which is responsible of the transmitting the RF signal providing from the photodetector then we have conducted a study on the design of a low pass filter “LPF” whose role is to block the received RF signal to reach the DC probe. After the optimisation of the proposed LPF, we have integrated the different components mounted on multi-layers GaAs substrate and simulated the final photonic transmitter by using an EM solver “Momentum” integrated in ADS “Advanced Design System”. The dimensions of the whole circuit are  .The simulation results permit to validate the final circuit at 1.6 THz, the proposed photonic transmitter is suitable for terahertz spectroscopy and imaging applications

    This paper presents the design of Continuous Wave Terahertz photonic transmitters which is composed from photodetector (PD) associated to a wideband antenna, low–pass filter (LPF) and DC Probe. Firstly, we have developed the bow-tie wideband antenna using an EM solver Momentum integrated in ADS “Advanced Design System”. Then we had optimized a low-pass filter which is responsible of blocking the RF signal providing from the antenna to reach the DC probe. And finally, we have validated into simulation the CW THz photonic transmitter. The three structures are based on multi-layers GaAs substrate, which is the most widely used for THz circuit design. The dimensions of the Whole circuit are 776.788 × 303.39〖μm〗^2

    L’impact de la planification stratégique sur la gestion des crises : Cas d’une organisation publique marocaine

    Strategic planning and crisis management are often regarded as two distinct concepts. However, by analyzing the definitions of these two concepts, it is confirmed that strategic planning and crisis management are observed as processes with the same goal of efficiency and performance. Empirically speaking, studies on the relationship between strategic planning and crisis management have become an important part of management research over the last few decades, particularly in the wake of the multiple crises that have occurred in various fields around the world (Covid19 pandemic in 2020, Ukraine-Russia conflict in 2022...). These studies have highlighted this relationship and shown the importance of strategic planning in crisis management. In this context, our research aims to study the relationship between these two concepts in a Moroccan context. This article aims to define the concept of strategic planning and its impact on crisis management. An exploratory qualitative study conducted at the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Promotion of Social Works of Religious Officers, a model of a Moroccan public organization, reveals a positive relationship between strategic planning and crisis management. Also, through this study, we have shown that the coordination, decision-making methods, qualifications, and skills of personnel in the fields of strategy and crisis management have a significant impact on successful crisis management.   Keywords: strategic planning - crisis management - public organization - processual crisis. JEL Classification: O2. Paper type: Empirical research.La planification stratégique et la gestion des crises sont souvent considérées comme deux concepts distincts. Toutefois, en analysant les définitions de ces deux concepts, il est confirmé que la planification stratégique et la gestion des crises sont observées comme des processus ayant la même finalité d’efficacité et de performance. Sur le Plan empirique, les études traitant la relation entre la planification stratégique et la gestion des crises ont pris une place importante dans les recherches en management ces dernières décennies, en particulier à la suite des multiples crises survenues partout dans le monde dans les différents domaines (Pandémie du Covid19 en 2020, le conflit Ukraine-Russie en 2022…). Ces études ont mis en évidence cette relation et montré l'importance de la planification stratégique dans la gestion de crise. Dans ce cadre, notre recherche a pour objectif d’étudier la relation entre ces deux concepts dans un contexte marocain. Cet article vise à définir le concept de la planification stratégique et son impact sur la gestion des crises. Une étude qualitative exploratoire conduite auprès de la Fondation Mohammed VI pour la Promotion des Œuvres Sociales des Préposés Religieux, modèle d’une organisation publique marocaine, relève l’existence d’une relation positive entre la planification stratégique et la gestion des crises. Également, à travers cette étude de terrain, nous avons pu montrer que la coordination, le mode de décision, la qualification et les compétences du personnel dans les domaines de la stratégie et de la gestion des crises ont un impact significatif sur la gestion des crises.   Mots-clés : planification stratégique – gestion des crises – organisations publiques – crise processuelle.     Compact Photonic Transmitter Based on Annular Ring Antenna for THz Applications

    This paper presents the design of Continuous Wave Terahetz photonic transmitters based on photodector which convert the light signal to electrical signal, THz antenna, low-pass filter (LPF) and DC Probe. In the design of the CW THz photonic transmitter System, we begin with the matching input impedance and validation of THz antenna using an EM solver Momentum integrated in ADS “Advanced Design System”. Then we pass to the optimization of a low-pass filter which had the role of inductance, blocking the RF signal providing from the antenna to reach the DC probe. Finally, we associate the previous structures with a DC probe and simulate the whole circuit until validating the CW THz photonic transmitter circuit. The three structures are based on multi-layers GaAs substrate, which is the most widely used for THz circuit design. The dimensions of the whole circuit are 819.071 × 164.10 2

    Mobile health (mHealth) has tremendous potential to benefit patients, providers, and the entire healthcare system. Benefits for patients to adopt mHealth include more effective access to health providers, reduced costs of care, and better health control. For physicians and the healthcare system, reasons to embrace mHealth are enhanced health outcomes, facilitated access to patients for care, and decreased time required for administrative tasks. Currently, some mobile apps and wearables dedicated to respiratory health provide medical education and messaging services, enable diary logs, aid with disease self-management, and include educational games. Major challenges for mHealth to be widely adopted include lack of studies demonstrating effectiveness, limited access to technology by all patients, decreased adoption over time, high costs, and data privacy concerns

    Avaluació de l'activitat antimicrobiana de vainillina, eugenol i timol davant de diferents soques d'Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris

    [ES] Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris es una bacteria gram positiva que pertenece al género Alicyclobacillus spp. caracterizada por ser termorresistente, acidófila y formadora de esporas, lo que dificulta el empleo de las técnicas habituales de conservación de alimentos para su eliminación (pasteurización y esterilización). Debido a estos motivos, es considerada como una amenaza para la industria agroalimentaria. En el caso concreto de los zumos, es la principal especie que produce alteraciones de las propiedades organolépticas en los zumos por la producción de guayacol. Con la finalidad de prevenir el deterioro de los zumos y garantizar su seguridad e higiene de manera no térmica se han estudiado las propiedades antimicrobianas de algunos componentes de aceites esenciales. Estos compuestos tienen una actividad antimicrobiana reseñable, pero su aplicación directa en alimentos todavía presenta algunos inconvenientes como su fuerte sabor, olor, y baja estabilidad y solubilidad. Como solución, se han desarrollado técnicas que permiten su uso como antimicrobiano sin modificar el perfil sensorial del producto. Entre estas técnicas destaca la inmovilización de los compuestos bioactivos sobre soportes de sílice. El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar la eficacia de ciertos compuestos bioactivos de los aceites esenciales frente a A. acidoterrestris. Para ello, se determinó la concentración mínima inhibitoria y bactericida de los antimicrobianos vainillina, eugenol y timol para cada una de las cepas en forma libre. Posteriormente, se prepararon partículas de óxido de silicio funcionalizadas con los componentes de aceites esenciales. Una vez sintetizadas, las partículas fueron caracterizadas mediante análisis elemental y microscopía electrónica de barrido. A continuación, se estudió la capacidad de las partículas para inhibir de manera no térmica el crecimiento de diferentes cepas de A. acidoterrestris en una matriz alimentaria (zumos de naranja y de manzana). Los resultados mostraron que el timol fue el compuesto bioactivo con mayor actividad antimicrobiana frente al A. acidoterrestris, con una concentración mínima bactericida de 3,75 mg/mL, seguido por la vainillina con una actividad moderada. El compuesto con menor efectividad fue el eugenol. Tras la inmovilización, se observó cómo los tres compuestos fueron capaces de inhibir el crecimiento de algunas de las cepas de A. acidoterrestris incluidas en el estudio, indicando la idoneidad del sistema antimicrobiano propuesto para evitar el deterioro de zumos de frutas.[EN] Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris is a gram-positive bacterium belonging to the genus Alicyclobacillus spp. characterized by being heat-resistant, acidophilic and spore-forming, which makes it difficult to use the usual food preservation techniques for its elimination (pasteurization and sterilization). For these reasons, it is considered a threat to the food industry. In the specific case of juices, it is the main species that produces alterations in the organoleptic properties of juices due to the production of guaiacol. In order to prevent the deterioration of juices and guarantee their safety and hygiene in a non-thermal way, the antimicrobial properties of some essential oil compounds have been studied. These compounds have a remarkable antimicrobial activity, but their direct application in food still presents some drawbacks such as their strong taste, odor, and low stability and solubility. As a solution, techniques have been developed that allow their use as antimicrobials without modifying the sensory profile of the product. Among these techniques, the immobilization of bioactive compounds on silica supports stands out. The objective of this work is to evaluate the efficacy of certain bioactive compounds of essential oils against A. acidoterrestris. For this, the minimum inhibitory and bactericidal concentration of the antimicrobials vanillin, eugenol and thymol will be determined for each of the strains in free form. Subsequently, silicon oxide particles functionalized with essential oil components will be prepared. Once synthesized, the particles will be characterized by elemental analysis and electron microscopy. Next, the ability of particles to inhibit the growth of different strains of A. acidoterrestris in a food matrix (orange and apple juices) in non-thermally way was studied. The results show that thymol was the bioactive compound with the highest antimicrobial activity against A. acidoterrestris, with a minimum bactericidal concentration of 3,75 mg/mL, followed by vanillin with moderate activity. The compound with the lowest effectiveness was eugenol. After immobilization, it was observed how the three compounds were able to inhibit the growth of some of the A. acidoterrestris strains included in the study, indicating the suitability of the proposed antimicrobial system to prevent spoilage of fruit juices.Moumane, O.     [ES] Este trabajo tiene como objetivo la inscripción en el Registro de Establecimientos Agroalimentarios (en adelante R.E.A.) de una nueva instalación de una fábrica con una línea para la elaboración de preparado de patata y cebolla para tortilla. Se trata de un proyecto técnico en el que se detalla el objetivo del proyecto, la legislación aplicable, el emplazamiento de la industria, la distribución en planta, un programa productivo de materias primas, producto obtenido, y un cuadro de capacidades anuales entre otros. Y se desarrollan dos instalaciones: la de construcción y de saneamiento . Se describirá, en este proyecto, el proceso industrial de elaboración del producto con un diagrama de flujo detallado y con la maquinaria necesaria. De la misma forma, se desarrollan dos instalaciones: la de construcción y de saneamiento. La inscripción de una instalación o industria en el R.E.A. es obligatoria para los titulares de empresas con actividades y establecimientos incluidos en el ámbito de aplicación del Reglamento del R.E.A.[EN] The objective of this final degree project is the inscription in the Register of Agroalimentary Establishment (R.E.A.) of a new factory plant which main task is the preparation of potato and onion omelettes. It is a technical project in which is detailed the objective of the project, the applicable legislation, the industry location, the plant layout, a production program for source materials, the obtained product, and an annual capacities chart, among others. Also described in the project is the industrial process of the making of the product, with the flow diagram and the necessary machinery. Thus, two calculation annexes are developed: construction and sanitation facility.     Mobile applications for endometriosis management functionalities: Analysis and potential

    Background: Endometriosis is a chronic gynecological inflammatory disease affecting women at reproductive age, it is characterized by the presence of endometrial tissue implants outside the uterus, causing severe pelvic pain during periods, urination, and intercourse, in addition to the great impact on infertility. This disease must be taken seriously by public health systems because of its significant impact on women's mental and sexual quality of life as well as the huge economic burden. Therefore, prompt advanced Endometriosis management is obligatory to provide affected women with maximum health protection. In this context, taking full advantage of new technologies especially using mobile apps for Endometriosis monitoring is a promising strategy, given the explosive growth of mobile apps especially mobile health apps available in the biggest app stores. Objective: This paper aims to study, analyze, and evaluate the functionalities and features of mobile apps that are specific to Endometriosis management and monitoring. Methods: A systematic literature review (SLR) protocol has been applied to conduct the selection process, the extraction of data, and the functional assessment of available Endometriosis management mobile apps on both Android Google Play Store and iOS App Store. The features and functionalities of the selected mobile apps have been analyzed based on a 25-item assessment questionnaire designed by referring to a rigorous preliminary analysis of recent Endometriosis scientific literature and available mobile apps. The data items were divided into four main groups: Endometriosis care, notes and records, Social and emotional support, and app technical features. Results: A total of 25 Endometriosis management mobile apps have been extracted (12 Android and 13 iOS mobile apps), analyzed, and evaluated by two independent authors. According to the functional content and technical analysis results, the obtained scores of the selected Endometriosis management mobile apps were quite low, more specifically for Android mobile apps, due to the complexity of Endometriosis disease management. Conclusions: This study helps to identify areas related to the management of Endometriosis that need additional efforts to be adequately addressed. It is considered the reference for mobile developers to explore and take benefit of the potential of mobile technologies and standards to build ease of use, secure, performant, and intelligent Endometriosis management mobile apps that can meet the functional needs of the different stakeholders, especially affected women, healthcare providers, clinicians, and policymakers
