Privacy in Mobile Agent Systems: Untraceability

    Get PDF
Agent based Internet environments are an interesting alternative to existing approaches of building software systems. The enabling feature of agents is that they allow software development based on the abstraction (a "metaphor") of elements of the real world. In other words, they allow building software systems, which work as human societies, in which members share products and services, cooperate or compete with each other. Organisational, behavioural and functional models etc applied into the systems can be copied from the real world. The growing interest in agent technologies in the European Union was expressed through the foundation of the Coordination Action for Agent-Based Computing, funded under the European Commission's Sixth Framework Programme (FP6). The action, called AgentLink III is run by the Information Society Technologies (IST) programme. The long-term goal of AgentLink is to put Europe at the leading edge of international competitiveness in this increasingly important area. According to AgentLink "Roadmap for Agent Based Computing"; agent-based systems are perceived as "one of the most vibrant and important areas of research and development to have emerged in information technology in recent years, underpinning many aspects of broader information society technologies"; However, with the emergence of the new paradigm, came also new challenges. One of them is that agent environments, especially those which allow for mobility of agents, are much more difficult to protect from intruders than conventional systems. Agent environments still lack sufficient and effective solutions to assure their security. The problem which till now has not been addressed sufficiently in agent-based systems is privacy, and particularly the anonymity of agent users. Although anonymity was studied extensively for traditional message-based communication for which during the past twenty five years various techniques have been proposed, for agent systems this problem has never been directly addressed. The research presented in this report aimed at filling this gap. This report summarises results of studies aiming at the identification of threats to privacy in agent-based systems and the methods of their protection.JRC.G.6-Sensors, radar technologies and cybersecurit

The purpose of this paper is to present the reception of Descartes in Spain. The text is divided into three parts. In the first part I present the early reception of Descartes in Spain, which took place at the turn of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and is associated with the activities of such figures as José Zaragoza, Vicente Tosca or Bautista Corachán. The second part presents the nineteenth-century study of Cartesian philosophy, which is associated with the reception of Descartes in the Spanish Neo-Kantianism and Generation of 1898. In the third part I show the twentieth-century reception of Descartes, associated with the figure and activity of José Ortega y Gasset.

The purpose of this article is to present the most important features of the Enlightenment in Spain. I start by presenting the discussions that took place on the subject of the Enlightenment among Spanish thinkers. Then, I deal with the problem of the first definition of the Enlightenment, which appeared in 1726 in the Dictionary of the Castilian Language. I also present the chronological framework of this age in Spain as well as the main stages of its development in the form of the Pre-Enlightenment, First Enlightenment, Mature Enlightenment and the Crisis of the Enlightenment.

    Get PDF

    Get PDF
TITLE: Interpretation of Kant’s philosophy by Ort ega y Gasset: from marburguian idealism to the critical ontologyABSTRACT: The purpose of this article is to present the evolution of Orteguian studies on the philosophy of Immanuel Kant. The spanish philosopher went from the logical idealism of the Marburg School to the metaphysical and ontological interpretations presented by the students of neo-Kantian masters such as Nicolai Hartmann, Heinz Heimsoeth, Karl Jaspers y Martín Heidegger. Those philosophers made the starting point of their reflection the philosophy of Kant because they found there metaphysical and ontological problems which were forgotten and omitted by the representatives of Neo-Kantian schools.

EE-ISAC – Practical cybersecurity solution for the energy sector

    Get PDF
A recent survey of cybersecurity assessment methods proposed by the scientific community revealed that their practical adoption constitutes a great challenge. Further research that aimed at identifying the reasons for that situation demonstrated that several factors influence the applicability, including the documentation level of detail, the availability of supporting tools, and the continuity of support. This paper presents the European Energy Information Sharing and Analysis Centre (EE-ISAC)—a cybersecurity platform for the energy sector that has been adopted by multiple organisations. The platform facilitates sharing information about cybersecurity incidents, countermeasures, and assessment results. Prospectively, it is envisaged to be integrated with the threat intelligence platform that enables real-time situational awareness. By considering both fault and attack scenarios together, threat awareness can be mapped onto operational contexts to prioritise decisions and responses. This paper analyses EE-ISAC’s approach based on the conceptual applicability framework developed during the research, to improve the applicability and usefulness of this platform for energy sector participants and to identify areas that require further development
