    A Model for Induction Motors with Non-Uniform Air-Gap

    Equations to calculate inductances of induction motors, considering non-uniform air-gap, are proposed. The analyzed air-gap variations are static and dynamic eccentricity and stator slots. The equations for inductance calculation, obtained from the modified winding functions and the energy stored in the air-gap, allow considering the effect of rotor bar skewing. Paytan, Adina 4 AMER SOC LIMNOLOGY OCEANOGRAPHY WACO LIMNOL OCEANOGR-METHNumerous studies have used naturally occurring Ra isotopes (Ra-223, Ra-224, Ra-226, and Ra-228, with half-lives of 11.4 d, 3.7 d, 1600 y, and 5.8 y, respectively) to quantify water mass ages, coastal ocean mixing rates, and submarine groundwater discharge (SGD). Using Monte Carlo models, this study investigated how uncertainties in Ra isotope activities and the derived activity ratios (AR) arising from analytical uncertainty and natural variability affect the uncertainty associated with Ra-derived water ages and eddy diffusion coefficients, both of which can be used to calculate SGD. Analytical uncertainties associated with Ra-224, Ra-226, and Ra-228 activities were reported in most published studies to be less than 10% of sample activity; those reported for Ra-223 ranged from 7% to 40%. Relative uncertainty related to natural variability-estimated from the variability in Ra-223 and Ra-224 activities of replicate field samples-ranged from 15% to 50% and was similar for Ra-223 activity, Ra-224 activity, and the Ra-224/Ra-223 AR. Our analysis revealed that AR-based water ages shorter than 3-5 d often have relative uncertainties greater than 100%, potentially limiting their utility. Uncertainties in eddy diffusion coefficients estimated based on cross-shore gradients in short-lived Ra isotope activity were greater when fewer points were used to determine the linear trend, when the coefficient of determination (R-2) was low, and when Ra-224, rather than Ra-223, was used. By exploring the uncertainties associated with Ra-derived water ages and eddy diffusion coefficients, this study will enable researchers to apply these methods more effectively and to reduce uncertainty

    A control strategy for stand-alone wound rotor induction machine

    A control strategy to regulate the frequency and voltage of a stand-alone wound rotor induction machine is presented. This strategy allows the machine to work as a generator in stand-alone systems (without grid connection) with variable rotor speed. A stator flux-oriented control is proposed using the rotor voltages as actuation variables. Two cascade control loops are used to regulate the stator flux and the rotor currents. A closed loop observer is designed to estimate the machine flux which is necessary to implement these control loops.     El divorcio como nudo biográfico. Una revisión de la literatura reciente desde la perspectiva de la vulnerabilidad post-divorcio

    In this article it is proposed a new theoretical approach for the study of post-divorce that finds its conceptual basis in the context of vulnerability and its empirical basis on a review of the recent literature on the impact of divorce on its economic, health and general welfare aspects. The process of divorce is understood as a biographic knot that marks the entrance to a risky context in which the actors are forced to rethink their life project. Within the post-divorce vulnerability approach there are a certain number of factors that affects theprocess of adjusting to that situation. On one hand, there are some activating factors, which are read as signs of vulnerability and, on the other, the mediating factors that enhance or diminish the responsiveness of individuals who have experienced the breakup. The understanding of post-divorce as a process that generates vulnerability should be con-sidered as a new development and a necessary input to advance on its scientific knowledge from the socio-demographic point of view

    Groundwater and nutrient discharge through karstic coastal springs (Castelló, Spain)

Support for the research of PM was received through the prize ICREA Academia, funded by the Generalitat de Catalunya.Discharge of groundwater and associated chemical compounds into coastal karstic regions, which are abundant in the Mediterranean basin, is envisaged to be significant. In this study, we evaluate the groundwater discharge and its nutrient load to the open karstic site of Badum (Castelló, East Spain). Salinity profiles evidenced that groundwater discharge from coastal brackish springs causes a buoyant fresher layer, as identified with thermal infrared images. Chemical tracers (radium isotopes, dissolved inorganic silicate and seawater major elements) have been used to determine a brackish groundwater proportion in coastal waters of 36% in October 2006 and 44% in June 2007. Based on a radium-derived residence time of 2.7 days in October 2006 and 2.0 days in June 2007, total SGD fluxes have been estimated in 71 500 and 187 000m³ d⁻¹, respectively, with fresh-SGD contributions representing 71% and 85%. The calculated SGD-associated nutrient fluxes, most likely of natural origin, were 1500 and 8300 μmolm⁻² d⁻¹ of DIN and 19 and 40 μmolm⁻² d⁻¹ of DIP in October 2006 and June 2007, respectively. These inputs may actually lead to or enhance P limitation, thereby altering the structure of biological communities in the area

    Les competències professionals dels titulats universitaris d'ADE: valoració de les necessitats formatives

    El principal objectiu d'aquest treball és identificar la demanda de competències professionals dels titulats d'ADE i el desajust entre les competències adquirides pels titulats, és a dir l'oferta, i la demanda de competències per part dels ocupadors. L'estudi es basa en l'opinió dels empresaris, obtinguda a través d'una enquesta i d'entrevistes en profunditat. Els resultats mostren que les empreses valoren les competències genèriques més que les específiques i que, al mercat de treball, el desenvolupament de les competències transversals és un element determinant de l'ocupabilitat. Els resultats plantegen la necessitat de reorientar la formació i els mètodes d'ensenyament-aprenentatge i suggereixen la conveniència d'una relació més profunda entre les universitats i les empreses

    Te-doped MoV-Oxide (M1 phase) for ethane ODH. The role of tellurium on morphology, thermal stability and catalytic behaviour

    [EN] Undoped and Te-doped MoV-Oxide (M1 phase) catalysts have been prepared hydrothermally (Te/Mo ratio in the synthesis gel from 0 to 0.17; and heat-treated at 400 or 600ºC in N2 atmosphere), characterized by several physicochemical techniques and tested in the oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of ethane. The morphology and microporosity of the catalysts, the nature of V-species on the catalyst surface and the catalytic performance strongly depend on the composition and the heat-treatment temperature. When calcined at 400ºC, the selectivity to ethylene decreases when the amount of tellurium increases, whereas when heat treated at 600ºC, the selectivity to ethylene increases when the Te-loading increases. These trends have been explained on the basis of the good correlation between selectivity to ethylene and the concentration of V4+ species on the surface of catalysts, in which the most selective catalyst is that prepared with a Te/Mo ratio of 0.17 and heat-treated at 600ºC.The authors would like to thank the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness for funding the projects (MINECO/FEDER) : CRTl2018-099668-B-C21, PID2019-106662RBC44, MAT2017-84118- C2-1-R and SEV-2016-0683.
