    Novel antimicrobial films based on ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymers for food packaging application

    Tesis por compendioThis PhD dissertation thesis has been focus on the development and characterization of antimicrobial packaging films based on the incorporation in the polymer matrix or on the attachment to the film surface of naturally occurring antimicrobial compounds with the purpose of inhibiting the proliferation of microorganisms and extend the microbiological shelf life of packaged food products. The studied active films are based on the use of ethylene vinyl copolymers (EVOH) containing 29% (EVOH29) or 44% (EVOH44) molar percentage of ethylene as polymeric vehicle for the incorporation of several antimicrobial compounds -oregano essential oil (OEO), citral, ethyl lauroyl arginate (LAE), epsilon-polylysine (EPL), green tea extract (GTE) and lysozyme. These antimicrobial agents have been incorporated in the film-forming solution or immobilized to the film surface by covalent bonding. Prior to the preparation of the active films, the antimicrobial activity of the selected compounds against selected microorganism was demonstrated, confirming that they could be good candidates to be used as preservatives for active food packaging applications, and an alternative to synthetic additives. The effect of the incorporation of the antimicrobial agents on relevant functional properties of the developed EVOH films was studied. In general, the polymer properties as materials for food packaging were not relevantly affected. In order to evaluate the potential of EVOH matrices as sustain release systems of active compounds, the release kinetics of the active compounds from the film to different media was evaluated; for that the agent release rate and extend into food simulants was monitored, and it was concluded that the agent concentration, release temperature, type of EVOH, interaction of EVOH with the food simulant, and the solubility of the active compound in the release media were the main controlling factors. EVOH matrices have also shown good properties to be used for the attachment of active molecules. In this regard, lysozyme was successfully immobilized on the film surface of EVOH. Several experiments were conducted to determine the antimicrobial properties of the resulting films in vitro against different microorganisms responsible for foodborne illness and in vivo with real foods –minimally-process salad, infant milk, surimi sticks and chicken stock- to enhance their preservation. All the materials presented a strong in vitro antimicrobial activity. Although the results obtained through in vivo tests showed activity reductions caused by food matrix effects, all materials presented significant microbial inhibition and, therefore, great potential to be used in the design of active food packaging. They can be applied as an inner coating of the packaging structure, releasing the active agent or acting by direct contact, producing a great protection against contamination with a prolongation of the microbiological food shelf life.Muriel Galet, V.     A battery-operated, stabilized, high-energy pulsed electron gun for the production of rare gas excimers

    We report on the design of a new type of electron gun to be used for experiments of infrared emission spectroscopy of rare gas excimers. It is based on a filament heated by means of a pack of rechargeable batteries floated atop the high-voltage power supply. The filament current is controlled by a feedback circuit including a superluminescent diode decoupled from the high voltage by means of an optical fiber. Our experiment requires that the charge injection is pulsed and constant and stable in time. This electron gun can deliver several tens of nC per pulse of electrons of energy up to 100100\,keV into the sample cell. This new design eliminates ripples in the emission current and ensures up to 12 hrs of stable performance.Comment: 1o pages, 8 figures, to be submitted to Review of Scientific Instrument

Las escuelas de padres y madres son un entorno perfecto que favorecen la información, formación y reflexión sobre aspectos relacionados con las funciones educativas y socializadoras de las familias. La propuesta es tratar estos aspectos siempre de forma transversal en cualquier tema y desde el enfoque de trabajo familiar, entendido como la actividad cotidiana que planifica, organiza y distribuye el tiempo en el hogar y marca diferencias por género como forma de transmisión de valores e interiorización de lo deseable para niños y niñas.This paper aims at considering the suitability of working through the schools of parents those abilities promoting a family education and socialization more equal and respectful with individual skills. The schools of parents are a perfect environment because they favour the information, training and reflection on issues related to the educational and socializing role of families. The proposal is to analyze these aspects always in a transversal way on any topic and from the perspective of the familiar work, defined as the daily activity which plans, organizes and distributes the time at home and specifies gender differences as a way of transmitting values and internalization from the desirable for boys and girls.peerReviewe

    Clusters are a way of classifying data which can later be used as information and processed using data mining methods with certain algorithms. From here the author wants to try to use data in the form of thesis titles or final assignments from students, which later can be grouped from these results. So that the existing data can be processed using a data mining method, namely Fuzzy K-Means (FKM).The data used in this study uses thesis data of students majoring in information technology. As a comparison, the data is also processed using K-Means, from the K-Means calculation, the average cluster is 1.014 and the DBI validity is 0.725. Meanwhile, for the calculation of Fuzzy K-Means, the cluster average is 0.069 and the DBI validity is 0.30

    In the title complex, [ZnCl2(C6H4N2Se)2], the ZnII center is tetra­coordinated by a Cl2N2 donor set in a distorted tetrahedral geometry. Some of the distortion from the ideal tetrahedral geometry might be ascribed to two agostic Z⋯H interactions The two 2,1,3-benzoselenadiazole ligands are each essentially planar and form a dihedral angle of 35.06 (9)°. An interesting feature of the crystal packing is the observation of short intermolecular contacts between Se and Se, Se and N, and N and N atoms. These arise as a result of three-center bridging of adjacent molecules into chains along the b axis. The crystal structure is stablilized by π–π inter­actions [minimum centroid–centroid distance = 3.5694 (18) Å]

The video editing training with Adobe Premiere is expected to be a learning tool to create content for the learning of Walisongo Vocational School teachers. This training activity is carried out at the Walisongo Vocational School Lab and is supported by a question and answer session, a practicum module will also be given to each training participant. The purpose of implementing this community service is to increase the creativity of the Walisongo Vocational School teachers who will create learning content for their students.     One indication of the development of a tertiary institution can be seen from the number of students applying from year to year. The increasing number of students is an identification that the tertiary institution is in high demand by the community. University student data is stored in a university database or often called PDPT. PDPT data is used for various things, such as calculating the ratio of lecturers and students, calculating the number of graduations, calculating class ratios to university income. Because of the importance of the PDPT data, the validity of the PDPT data must be maintained. The problem that arises at the University of Semarang is that the data is only contained in the central server and is not distributed well globally or in detail up to the Study Program and the Quality Assurance Agency. This requires an alternative way to validate student data so that student data can be monitored continuously. The method can be done by using software development methods using a framework.
