A multilingual grammar for 'The International Style', and its hybrid grammar
This paper describes the proposal and results of a multilingual shape grammar to describe the designs of three architects, precursors of the 'International Style'. A shape grammar is a generative process that allows the recreation of designs that follow a language. Grammars are useful mechanisms to describe patterns and generative processes that can be used for analysis or design exploration. Most grammars represent one language. This study focuses on three independent languages within the same movement. The proposed grammar is parametric and allows the independent recreation of each independent design. Its difficult application can be linked to the difficult evaluation process. This research proposes a quantitative and a qualitative method of grammar evaluation, using respectively Principal Components Analysis (PCA) and user questionnaires. The results are then discussed and assessed using hybrids that fall in between languages and help delineate parametric spaces
Analytical and numerical results for American style of perpetual put options through transformation into nonlinear stationary Black-Scholes equations
We analyze and calculate the early exercise boundary for a class of
stationary generalized Black-Scholes equations in which the volatility function
depends on the second derivative of the option price itself. A motivation for
studying the nonlinear Black Scholes equation with a nonlinear volatility
arises from option pricing models including, e.g., non-zero transaction costs,
investors preferences, feedback and illiquid markets effects and risk from
unprotected portfolio. We present a method how to transform the problem of
American style of perpetual put options into a solution of an ordinary
differential equation and implicit equation for the free boundary position. We
finally present results of numerical approximation of the early exercise
boundary, option price and their dependence on model parameters
A Nonsmooth Maximum Principle for Optimal Control Problems with State and Mixed Constraints-Convex Case
Here we derive a nonsmooth maximum principle for optimal control problems
with both state and mixed constraints. Crucial to our development is a
convexity assumption on the "velocity set". The approach consists of applying
known penalization techniques for state constraints together with recent
results for mixed constrained problems.Comment: Published in 'Discrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems, Vol. 2011,

The Multi-Lane Capsule Network (MLCN)
We introduce Multi-Lane Capsule Networks (MLCN), which are a separable and
resource efficient organization of Capsule Networks (CapsNet) that allows
parallel processing, while achieving high accuracy at reduced cost. A MLCN is
composed of a number of (distinct) parallel lanes, each contributing to a
dimension of the result, trained using the routing-by-agreement organization of
CapsNet. Our results indicate similar accuracy with a much reduced cost in
number of parameters for the Fashion-MNIST and Cifar10 datsets. They also
indicate that the MLCN outperforms the original CapsNet when using a proposed
novel configuration for the lanes. MLCN also has faster training and inference
times, being more than two-fold faster than the original CapsNet in the same
accelerator
The Equilibrium Dynamics for an Endogeneous Bid-Ask Spread in a Monopolistic financial Market
This paper presents an endogeneous model for the stochastic dynamics of the bid-ask spread of prices of nancial assets. The model is derived introducing an intermediary and inventory costs in the setting of equilibrium financial markets as described by Platen and Rebolledo (1996)Bid-ask spread; intermediary; dynamic equilibrium
This paper analyses the notion of mysterium tremendum posed by the historian and philosopher of religions Rudolf Otto, through a prayer produced in the sumero-akkadian historical context - circa 3500/1800 BCE . This notion becomes a fundamental one for the study and understanding of the religious phenomenon's essence

This paper analyses the notion of mysterium tremendum posed by the historian and philosopher of religions Rudolf Otto, through a prayer produced in the sumero-akkadian historical context – circa 3500/1800 BCE . This notion becomes a fundamental one for the study and understanding of the religious phenomenon's essence
Mental Health Disparities for Latino Immigrants & Its Impact on Psychological Well-Being
In the present study, the researcher sought to examine the factors associated with Latino immigrants and the barriers/challenges that are faced in mental health. The main question that the researcher focuses on in the present study is: What are some of the mental health challenges for Latino immigrants & how do these disparities further impact psychological well-being? Furthermore, the research focuses on highlighting the variables that are increasingly damaging to the minority population of Latinos in the United States. These variables include lack of health insurance, stigma, acculturation issues, legal issues, and biopsychosocial factors, such as socioeconomic class. In multiple studies, but particularly one conducted by Cook, Zuvekas, Chen, Progovac, and Lincoln (2016), findings demonstrated that rates of mental illness are similar across most racial and ethnic backgrounds, however the challenges and disparities associated with mental illnesses are greater for individuals who identify with minority populations, or Latino immigrants. These factors negatively impact mental health and the well-being for this marginalized, minority population in the United States. The population in focus for this research are Latino immigrants, both documented and undocumented, that reside throughout the United States, with a sub-focus on those residing in Northern California, Marin County. On top of providing information based on mental health and mental illness through the lens of Latinos in the United States, this manual also hopes to unveil the disparities and challenges associated with help-seeking behaviors, resources, awareness, and stigma, to name a few
