The Project Management Discipline has been widely used in the last years for companies aroundthe world and these companies have been investing large amounts on surveys, training andconsulting in order to get benefits for the organizations that need to create competitive advantage inthe high competitive Market and to achieve their business strategy goals. Studies from the majorworld authors show many ways to define success at the organizations. In Brazil, the BenchmarkingStudy in GP from the PMI Chapters in 2009, show most studied companies don’t have a process doassess whether they are achieving the expected business goals with their investments in ProjectManagement. This article goal is to demonstrate many ways to define success in project, which willfacilitate the process to assess whether the companies are achieving these expected goals. Themethodology used was a literature review, collecting publications, textbooks and documents fromsubject-matter-experts.A disciplina de Gerenciamento de Projetos vem sendo adotada amplamente nos últimos anos por empresas do mundo inteiro e as empresas têm feito altos investimentos em pesquisa, treinamento e consultoria nessa área com a finalidade de trazer benefícios para as organizações que precisam criar vantagens no mercado de alta competitividade e alcançar seus objetivos estratégicos de negócio. Estudos dos principais autores mundiais mostram diversas formas de definir sucesso nas organizações. No Brasil, o Estudo de Benchmarking em GP dos capítulos do PMI de 2009 mostra que no cenário nacional, a grande maioria das empresas investigadas não possui um processo para avaliar se estão alcançando os objetivos de negócio esperados com os investimentos em Gerenciamento de Projetos. O objetivo final desse artigo é demonstrar diversas formas de definir sucesso em projetos, o que facilitará o processo de avaliação do alcance dos benefícios esperados. Análise de Critérios de Sucesso em Projetos de Engenharia, Suprimentos e Construção (EPC)

The projects in the petroleum industry (oil, gas and derivatives) are characterized by their technicaland management complexity. These projects are planned, designed, and executed by large,distributed, multi-disciplinary teams that strive to implement innovative solutions that will allowexploring and producing oil and gas from deep water fields (Offshore). Based on a literature reviewrelated to “Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Projects” and “Project Success”, anda questionnaire responded by 37 experienced professionals, working for 24 different organizationsof the sector, it was possible to identify the main objectives or success criteria (Cost, Time, Quality,Scope, Customer Satisfaction, Security, Team Satisfaction and Shareholder Satisfaction) for theBrazilian context. It is important to emphasize that this paper discuss EPC Offshore Project successfrom the EPC contractors (named in Brazil as “EPCistas”) point of view.Os projetos na indústria do petróleo (óleo, gás e derivados) se caracterizam por sua complexidade técnica e gerencial. São planejados e executados por equipes numerosas, distribuídas geograficamente e com conhecimentos multidisciplinares, que buscam implantar soluções inovadoras que permitirão explorar e produzir óleo e gás, localizados em campos de águas profundas e longe da costa (Offshore). Uma revisão da literatura referente a “Projetos EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction)” e a “Sucesso em Projetos” e as respostas de 37 profissionais experientes, com atuação em 24 organizações diferentes do setor, permitiu identificar os principais objetivos ou critérios de sucesso (Custo, Tempo, Qualidade, Escopo, Satisfação do Cliente, Segurança, Satisfação da Equipe e Satisfação dos Acionistas) para esses projetos, no Brasil. Deve-se destacar que esse artigo discute sucesso em Projetos EPC Offshore, do ponto de vista das empresas contratadas ou, como chamadas no Brasil, empresas “EPCistas”

A utilização da ferramenta de mapeamento do fluxo de valor (MFV) para melhoria de processos: estudo de caso em uma empresa do setor naval / The use of value flow mapping (MFV) tool for process improvement: a case study in a naval sector company

O objetivo deste estudo é apresentar a utilização de uma das ferramentas do leanproduction, o Mapeamento do Fluxo de Valor (MFV), desenhando como os fluxos ocorrem atualmente, propondo a otimização dos processos e identificando os possíveis efeitos através da utilização da ferramenta. O estudo foi realizado em uma empresa do setor naval no Rio de Janeiro. Para tal, foram feitas observações diretas e análises em dois momentos da mesma empresa – do ano de 2016 e o de 2017. A metodologia adotada foi dividida em três macro etapas, sendo a primeira de caráter exploratório, fundamentada em uma pesquisa bibliográfica e visitas a campo para um estudo aprofundado do tema. Já a segunda etapa se deu por meio da aplicação da ferramenta MFV na empresa do setor naval em dois cenários diferentes - ano de 2016 e 2017. Por fim, a última etapa foi a compilação dos dados e a análise dos resultados com a identificação dos possíveis efeitos através da utilização prática da ferramenta de Mapeamento do Fluxo de Valor. Contudo, os efeitos identificados com a aplicação desta se confirmam com o apresentado na literatura, uma vez que o estudo permitiu a visualização completa e integralizada dos processos de informação e produção em ambos os anos. Além disso, na proposta de estado futuro dos processos, o estudo apresentou uma redução no lead time, um processo enxuto e denotou a necessidade de um comprometimento das partes interessadas para que seja mantido esse círculo virtuoso de melhoria contínua

Engineers' education in digital era

 The Fourth Industrial Revolution has already taken around the world. Decision taking at industries is more and more dependent on new technologies and processes, which demand updating and adjustment of the engineering education. Through a systematized literature revision, this article aims to search, select and prioritize bibliographic sources which reflect relevant initiatives that may work as a reference for engineering bachelor´s degree courses. 50 most relevant articles were selected and analyzed from 4,333 articles published in the Scopus database. The results show the 10 main authors, the 9 main journals and the 10 main institutions among the 50 most relevant articles, as references in the analyzed sample. Regarding aspects for the improvement of engineers education, one can highlight PBL (Project-Based Learning), Competency-Based Education and focus on holistic education. This research may encourage reflection, awareness and improvement by the ones interested in the study of engineers' education, by integrating market demand, learners' expectations and academic excellence, in order to contribute to the growth of scientific and practical knowledge and of society technological development.

Método de pesquisa misto para identificação do problema de pesquisa

O presente artigo propõe um novo método hipotético-dedutivo de pesquisa, de abordagem mista, que propicia a identificação de um Problema de Pesquisa. A metodologia utilizada para a escolha das técnicas que compõem o método misto proposto foi a Pesquisa-ação. Este método possibilita ao pesquisador identificar seu problema de pesquisa, seja pelo viés das lacunas teóricas e/ou das práticas. Para tanto, fez-se uso de uma abordagem quantitativa – bibliometria -, bem como de uma abordagem qualitativa - Técnica do Incidente Crítico (TIC) e Análise de Conteúdo ou Teoria Fundamentada. Conclui-se que o método misto proposto é robusto, sendo aderente a qualquer área do conhecimento que busque resolver um problema ou construir uma teoria, a partir de lacunas teórico-práticas. No entanto, o método carece de uma maior utilização prática para as áreas do conhecimento onde os temas de pesquisa são mais abstratos ou subjetivos

PROJECT AUTOMATION APPLICATION WITH LEAN PHILOSOPHY AT THE CONSTRUCTION OF OIL REFINING UNIT

Increased investment in the oil industry and Brazil gas, led to the improvement in construction and assembly processes of a hydrotreating unit cracked naphtha in oil refining sub-area. Thus, the resutado achieved was mainly credited to the support of automation tools projects and principles of Lean Construction. In this way the study seeks to demonstrate the role of design automation tools, Lean philosophy and trend identified after critical analysis of the empirical study in what should be recommended for future construction and assembly, it is the sustainable logistics. Especially in the historical context of high demand for construction of oil refineries to meet the pre-salt layer in Brazil in the last 10 years. The political conflicts during the Workers’ Party administrations led by Luís Inácio Lula da Silva and Dilma Rousseff have been driven by disputes between two fractions of the country’s bourgeoisie: the internal and the internationalized bourgeoisie.
