Preliminary Assessment of Remote Wind Sites

A crucial input for wind farming prospect is the assessment of potential wind sites. Sites, especially remotely located, often do not have a wind resource map and thus lack credible historical records of wind resources. Measurement campaigns to map these sites are costly and time consuming. In this paper, a method for preliminary wind resource assessment for remote sites is proposed. The method is a combination of interpolation and extrapolation of data from the surrounding sites to the potential wind farm site. Two interpolation techniques, viz., Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) and Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN), are applied to the data set recorded by Sonic Detection and Ranging (SODAR) in West Texas, USA with the surrounding sites within 300 km radius of the potential site. Extrapolation is done by using a power law with the exponent equal to 1/7. The resulting values of the wind speeds are validated with the available 200 m meteorological tower measurements at the potential site in Reese, Lubbock West-Texas, USA. Root mean square error (RMSE) of daily averages of wind speed ranged from 1.5 to 3 meters per seconds

La importancia de la "experiencia-cliente"

Estoy esperando, lleno de ansiedad, el debut de la selección, después de 36 años. Repaso en mi mente un checklist: gaseosa, pop corn, sillón especial, nuevo tv de 60 pulgadas, conexión ultra HD, sonido 7.1. ¡Todo listo!  Pitazo inicial, rueda la pelota, primeros dos minutos y se va la señal de cable. No lo puedo creer, parece una pesadilla. Entonces llamo a la empresa que me da el servicio, me contesta una máquina que me pregunta el DNI; lo marco y luego una voz automatizada dice: si es cliente marque 1; si no es cliente marque 2. Marco rápido el 1, el tiempo apremia. Luego se escucha nuevamente esa voz automatizada, que no entiende que estoy apurado, e indica nuevas alternativas con una calma que exaspera. Solo quiero hablar con un humano, pero imposible, no está la alternativa. Aprieto 4, el número que corresponde a reclamos. Me aparece nuevamente la máquina y me dice que “estamos presentando problemas con la señal, pronto será reestablecida”. Al final la señal nunca llega y termino escuchando el partido por la radio

Diseño de un modelo para el control y la fiscalización de los proyectos de obra pública en el ITCR

Escuela de Ingeniería en Construcción, 2013.The present project aimed to establish an operational model to be applicable in the control and the supervision of public work contracts developed by the Oficina de Ingeniería of ITCR. To establish this model, developing and diagramming the process of public work execution were necessary to be carried out in that department. According to the rules of government contracting, a documentary research was conducted to determine the process of public works. Then, inside of this process was developed an inspection check; an applicable tool to facilitate the work of the project s inspectors. Also, another revision tool for administrative thread was proposed that were useful to the project coordinator. Finally, the operational model that allows the control and supervision of public works contracts developed in the Oficina de Ingeniería was established. From this project was concluded that in the Oficina de Ingeniería is developed a contract execution process made up of seventeen administrative threads. Finally, incorporating to the normal procedures the tools and the indicated processes were recommended in order to get an effective control and a supervision of public work contracts.Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica. Diferencias en los patrones motores de los alumnos de cuarto básico según la cantidad de horas de educación física durante la semana de dos colegios del sector oriente de Santiago

Tesis (Profesor de Educación Física para la Enseñanza Básica, Licenciado en Educación)El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar los patrones motores en hombres y mujeres de diferentes rangos etarios en la población de los alumnos de cuarto básico que realizan las clases de educación física de los dos colegios del sector oriente de la comuna de Santiago. Este estudio se aplicó a un total de 72 hombres y 65 mujeres entre los rangos etarios entre 9 y 10 años aproximadamente, quienes participaron de forma voluntaria bajo su conocimiento con el fin de evidenciar las posibles mejoras que se obtengan con los resultados del test y así poder repicarlo en los otros niveles de los mismos colegios, permitiéndoles saber el nivel de los patrones motores de cada alumno. Para así finalmente poder determinar si el test aplicado cumple con los requisitos establecidos y los estándares que cada niño debe tener según el nivel de los patrones motores

Factores del estrés académico en los estudiantes de las generaciones 2013 (undécimos 2013), 2014 (undécimos 2014) y 2015 (décimos 2014) del Colegio Humanístico Costarricense (CHC)

El estrés es un elemento de la cotidianidad humana, por ende, también, del ámbito académico. Este se manifiesta mediante alteraciones en la conducta, problemáticas psicosomáticas y sociales, como bajo rendimiento, dolores corporales, bloqueos mentales, inclusión fallida en los grupos sociales, deserción, etc.El objeto del estudio fue determinar los factores de estrés más comunes que influyen dentro de las diferentes áreas de la vida del estudiante. La población analizada fueron los estudiantes de las generaciones 2013, 2014 y 2015 del CHC, a los cuales se les aplicó un instrumento likert durante 3 etapas distintas del ciclo lectivo. La población encuestada indicó que el estrés académico se deriva principalmente de la presencia de factores como problemáticas dentro del círculo social próximo. Ambos con carácter cíclico, de manera que se relacionan directamente en el desempeño académico con la estabilidad emocional del estudiante y viceversa

CTR prediction for optimizing the negotiation of internet advertising campaigns

Web advertising campaigns have the particularity that allow to measure the performance of campaigns based on different metrics, among which are the cost per thousand impressions (CPM-Cost Per mille), cost per click (CPC) and the click-to-print ratio (CTR-Click Through Ratio). For this reason, each ad has a specific objective based on these indicators which aim to distribute the purchase of advertising space on the Internet in the best possible way in order to have a better return on investment based on these metrics. The costs incurred in the development of its services is significant and the objectives of the campaigns are not always achieved because it assumes the variability of Internet user behavior. This project consists of proposing a regression model based on the historical data of the companies providing the programmatic purchasing service, in order to optimize negotiations on performance metrics in advertising campaigns with advertisers

Computational Nutraceutics: Chemical Reactivity Properties of the Flavonoid Naringin by Means of Conceptual DFT

The M06 family of density functionals has been assessed for the calculation of the molecular structure and properties of the Naringin molecule. The chemical reactivity descriptors have been calculated through Conceptual DFT. The active sites for nucleophilic and electrophilic attacks have been chosen by relating them to the Fukui function indices and the dual descriptor f (2) (r). A comparison between the descriptors calculated through vertical energy values and those arising from the Koopmans' theorem approximation has been performed in order to check for the validity of the last procedure
