Consumer Propensity to Adopt Illicit Goods: Theory, Methods, and Results
The purpose of this study is to examine consumer propensity to adopt illicit goods. The adoption of illicit goods is a worldwide problem that undermines legitimate markets, funds criminal organizations, and harms the most vulnerable in society. International organizations, such as World Economic Forum, have called for the study of the demand of illicit products. Research is crucial to understanding the demand for these products and can contribute to public policy addressing this issue. This research uses two theoretical frameworks: The Theory of Planned Behavior and the Theory of Marketing Ethics. Using the Theory of Planned Behavior, research results suggest that subjective norms influence consumers’ propensity to adopt illicit goods. Using the Theory of Marketing Ethics, research on consumers’ ethical orientation found that both teleological and deontological orientations influence consumers’ ethical judgement and intention. Theoretical and methodological conclusions are derived, and managerial and policy implications are offered

A Note on Twistor Gravity Amplitudes
In a recent paper, Witten proposed a surprising connection between
perturbative gauge theory and a certain topological model in twistor space. In
particular, he showed that gluon amplitudes are localized on holomorphic
curves. In this note we present some preliminary considerations on the

Development of a screening tool enabling identification of infants and toddlers at risk for family abuse and neglect : A feasibility study from three South European countries
Background: Child abuse is a health and social problem, and few screening instruments are available for the detection of risk in primary health care. The aim was to develop a screening instrument to be used by professionals in the public health care sector, thus enabling the detection of infants and toddlers at risk of emotional and physical abuse and neglect, and to provide evidence for the feasibility of the instrument in Cyprus, Greece and Spain. Method: A total of 50 health professionals from paediatric public health-care centres in the three countries were involved in a three-step process for guiding the development of the screening tool and its application. Results: A nine-item screening tool, consisting of items assessing relational emotional abuse, physical abuse and other risk factors, was developed. The screening tool was applied on a total of 219 families with 0 to 3-year-old children attending public health centres in the three countries. Clinicians reported that they agreed on the inclusion of the questions (86.4-100%) and that they found the questions to be useful for the clinical evaluation of the family (63.2-100%). Overview of experimental results in PbPb collisions at sqrt{s_NN} = 2.76 TeV by the CMS Collaboration
The CMS experiment at the LHC is a general-purpose apparatus with a set of
large acceptance and high granularity detectors for hadrons, electrons, photons
and muons, providing unique capabilities for both proton-proton and ion-ion
collisions. The data collected during the November 2010 PbPb run at sqrt{s_NN}
= 2.76 TeV was analyzed and multiple measurements of the properties of the hot
and dense matter were obtained. Global event properties, detailed study of jet
production and jet properties, isolated photons, quarkonia and weak bosons were

An extreme proto-cluster of luminous dusty starbursts in the early Universe
We report the identification of an extreme proto-cluster of galaxies in the
early Universe whose core (nicknamed Distant Red Core, DRC) is formed by at
least ten dusty star-forming galaxies (DSFGs), confirmed to lie at via detection of [CI](1-0), CO(6-5), CO(4-3),
CO(2-1) and emission lines, detected
using ALMA and ATCA. The spectroscopically-confirmed components of the
proto-cluster are distributed over a region
and have a collective obscured star-formation rate (SFR) of , considerably higher than has been seen before in any
proto-cluster of galaxies or over-densities of DSFGs at . Most of
the star formation is taking place in luminous DSFGs since no Ly
emitters are detected in the proto-cluster core, apart from a Ly blob
located next to one of the DRC dusty components and extending over . The total obscured SFR of the proto-cluster could rise to if all the members of an over-density
of bright DSFGs discovered around DRC in a wide-field LABOCA 870-m image
are part of the same structure. The total halo mass of DRC could be as high as
and could be the progenitor of a Coma-like
cluster at . The relatively short gas-depletion times of the DRC
components suggest either the presence of a mechanism able to trigger extreme
star formation simultaneously in galaxies spread over a few hundred kpc or the
presence of gas flows from the cosmic web able to sustain star formation over

Twistor geometry of a pair of second order ODEs
We discuss the twistor correspondence between path geometries in three
dimensions with vanishing Wilczynski invariants and anti-self-dual conformal
structures of signature . We show how to reconstruct a system of ODEs
with vanishing invariants for a given conformal structure, highlighting the
Ricci-flat case in particular. Using this framework, we give a new derivation
of the Wilczynski invariants for a system of ODEs whose solution space is
endowed with a conformal structure. We explain how to reconstruct the conformal
structure directly from the integral curves, and present new examples of
systems of ODEs with point symmetry algebra of dimension four and greater which
give rise to anti--self--dual structures with conformal symmetry algebra of the
same dimension. Some of these examples are analogues of plane wave
space--times in General Relativity. Finally we discuss a variational principle
for twistor curves arising from the Finsler structures with scalar flag
