    Get PDF
The aim of this paper is to explore the factors affecting employees’ satisfaction toward Human Resource Management Information System “HRMIS” in the Palestinian universities: the moderating role of training. To evaluate the hypotheses, an empirical study was undertaken utilizing a survey questionnaire to collect primary data. The data obtained from 347 Palestinian universities’ employees is analyzed using a structural equation model (SEM). The findings show that there is a relationship between independent variables (i.e. system quality, information quality, service quality, ICT infrastructure, and security), and employees’ satisfaction towards HRMIS. The findings also indicate that training plays a role in managing the relationship between independent and dependent variables, implying that it is important for the managements of universities to take the moderating role of training in the relationship between independent and dependent variables into account

The globalization of economies and societies worldwide, has brought massive transformations in the field of higher education, creating a context to include an ‘international’ dimension in higher education institutions (HEIs). Global learning is essential in the development of cognitive skills, as well as for increased success among academics, hence institutional stakeholders such as administrators, faculty, and students are key participants in initiatives to internationalize academia. The current study examines the perspectives of institutional stakeholders (top administrators, faculty, and students) concerning the process and implementation of internationalization of higher education in the UAE, revealing its potential benefits and challenges. In a mixed method study, data were collected using online questionnaires and semi-structured interviews with the institutional stakeholders from eight top-ranked institutions in the UAE. To assess the process of internationalization within the ‘internationalization cube’ framework, official documents regarding policies and strategies were sought from these institutions. The overall findings suggest that institutional stakeholders mainly view internationalization as a significant phenomenon which serves as a tool for the creation and dissemination of knowledge, ultimately to improve the quality of education. The study categorized the institutions under study based on their internationalization efforts, offering decision-makers a rich source of information for beneficial use in planning and implementation of internationalization at their institutions

At the present time, the performance of finned and flat tube heat exchangers (HEs) has become a very important issue in the thermal industrial sector. Finned-and-flat tube heat exchangers have gained great interest from many researchers due to their role in any thermal engineering system. Some geometrical and process parameters such as fin spacing, tube spacing, tube inclination angle, etc. affects the performance of fin-and flat tube heat exchangers. Significant number of research have been done to study the effect of such geometrical and process parameters. However, the effect of flat tube inclination angle on the thermal-hydraulic performance of fin-and-tube HE is not fully examined. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of flat tube inclination angle, air velocity and tube configuration on the thermal and flow characteristics of compact fin-and-flat tube heat exchangers. A series of experimental and numerical investigations were carried out to evaluate the influence of the aforementioned parameters on the thermal-hydraulic performance between the tube bundles. Moreover, Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was used to determine the optimum parameter condition for the fin-and–tube HE. The range of the parameters considered in the study were tube inclination angle from 0˚ to 150˚, inlet air flow velocity from 1.8 to 3.8 m/s and tube configuration (inline and staggered). For the experiments, the wind tunnel available at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, UMP was used. The wind tunnel was equipped with a blower of capacity 50 W, flow straightener, test section and measuring sensors. Twelve plate fin and nine flat tube heat exchangers test sections were designed and manufactured at various inclination angles and configurations. Temperature, velocity, and pressure measurements were recorded at various positions in the test section as well as before and after the test section. For the numerical analysis, the CFD commercial software called ANSYS FLUENT-15 was used to solve the Navier-Stoke and energy equations together with proper turbulent equations. The parameters are similar to the experimental investigation. The experiment and numerical analysis used Nusselt number, pressure drop, and area goodness factor to evaluate the thermal-hydraulic performance of fin-and-flat tube heat exchangers. The major findings showed that flat tube inclination angle has significant impact on the heat transfer enhancement. However, the results from both experimental and numerical analysis revealed that increasing the tube inclination angle from 0˚ to 90˚ augments the convective heat transfer coefficient. While 120˚ and 150˚ provide thermal performance close to 60˚ and 30˚, respectively. The average deviations of Nusselt number between experimental and numerical results were 5.42% and 4.44% for inline and staggered configurations respectively. Moreover, due to the air flow blockage caused by inclining the tube angle, the pressure drop increases dramatically for all cases studied. From all acquired results, the best thermal performance occurred at 0˚, while 90˚ provided the minimum thermal performance. Therefore, inclining the tube is beneficial for enhancing the heat transfer performance but is not beneficial in term of pressure drop as it requires higher pumping power. The developed correlations from the RSM can predict experimental data with average deviation of 2.78% for Nu for both configurations. Moreover, it can predict the numerical data with average deviation of 0.554% and 0.92% for inline and staggered configuration, respectively. The optimum parameters are found to be with high air velocity and low tube inclination angle which provide maximum heat transfer enhancement and low-pressure drop penalty. Thus, it is recommended for the design of fin-and-flat tube HEs

Appendectomy is a common cause of emergency hospitalization, and appendectomy is one of the most common emergency procedures performed in modern medicine. Although it is a common problem, acute appendicitis remains a complex condition to diagnose, especially in the young, the elderly, and women of childbearing age. The aim was to evaluate the accuracy of the RIPASA score for patients with right iliac fossa pain (RIF) and suspected appendicitis. This study is an observational, analytic, and prospective cohort study conducted for one year. All patients suspected of having acute appendicitis and who underwent appendectomy were included in this study. All resected appendages were sent for histological examination. RIPASA scores were calculated for all patients. The study results in the 105 patients studied, 60 (57.1%) were predominantly male. The M/F ratio is 1.3/1. Most of the 98 patients (93.3%) were 40 years old. Most patients had symptoms within 48 hours 79 (75.2%). The most common symptom was anorexia (83.8%). All patients had RIF tenderness (100%). 95 (90.5%) patients had a score >7.5. On gross examination, three patients (2.9%) had a non-inflammatory appendix, 83 patients (79.0%) had a simple inflammatory appendix, the perforated appendix was found in 9 patients (8.6%), appendix mass was found in 6 patients (5,7%), and only four patients (3.8%) had an appendiceal abscess. The appendix was histologically inflamed in 69 patients (65.7%). The sensitivity of the RIPASA scoring system in our study was 69.5%, and the specificity was 70%. The diagnostic accuracy was calculated and was 69.5%. Our study's positive and negative predictive values (PPV, NPV) were 95.7% and 19.4%, respectively. Research conclusion RIPASA value of 7.5 is beneficial and easy to use. Therefore, surgeons can use it as a diagnostic guide for acute appendicitis to reduce the rate of misdiagnosis

The Method of (Al-nasb) on (Al-qate') in the Qur'an (A Semantic Study from Interpretation and Language Scholars' Point of View)

The Arabic language is the language of eloquence, and God Almighty has honored it with the revelation of the Qur'an on the methods of its people in discourse. And when the Qur'an was revealed, it witnessed the peak of maturity that made it fit to challenge the eloquent Arabs with a hadith like the Qur'an. The Arabs were unable to come up with fluent words that were similar to the Qur'an. The language of the Qur'an being challenged was extremely graceful, the most incapable of rhetoric, astonishing the listeners, and capturing minds and hearts as if it were magic because it is eloquent. For this reason, we aspired to reveal one of the methods of the Great Qur'an that came by the methods of the Arabs in eloquence and speech, which is where the singular noun contradicts what preceded it in the systems in syntax. As if it was alone in the systems. This method was called (the exception to the exclusion), and it is a broad method used by the Arabs in their speech, with the name ``Al-nasb for exclusion,'' sometimes ``by Al-nasb depending on praise and slander,'' and sometimes ``by Al-nasb by specialization.'' The reason for cutting the adjective from the descriptive is due to a special rhetorical reason in which the new meaning is performed more strongly, and is represented in showing praise, slander, or mercy by specifying the word from the context and not following it in an expression similar to it in the style of attention used by the Arabs, to alert the mind of the listener and activate it for the speech delivered. When the Arabs focus on praise and vilification, they want to single out the praised and the blameworthy to specialize in them. If the Arab wants to draw attention to what he wants of praise, slander, or mercy, he goes against what is accustomed to the common and familiar ways of expression, so he cuts the adjective from the participle, and does not follow it in the expression. The solution to the research problem is summarized by questions, including, What is the purpose of (Al-nasb) on (Al-qate')? Is it a style of the Arabs accustomed to the speech? What are the meanings that came from (Al-qate')? How can we deal with the opinions that say this way is wrong? Why were some Qur'anic words chosen in particular? What are the rhetorical cases for this method? The study required that the research be divided into four sections, preceded by an introduction and followed by a conclusion, in which we followed the inductive-analytical method. As for the sources, books on language, grammar, and meanings had the largest share, in addition to books on the interpretation of the Qur'an. Keywords: (Al-nasb) on (Al-qate'), accusative based on praise and slander, accusative based on mistake, indication of expression, indication of context, rhetorical method

Background: The Iraqi Kurdistan local population involves more than eight gatherings of tenants. The Muslim Kurds make up most of the population and after that the Yezidi Kurds. Alternate gatherings incorporate Armenians, Assyrian, Chaldea, Syriacs, and little minority of Arab and Turkmen individuals. Methods: A total of 36 unrelated males from the two population groups in Iraqi Kurdistan: Kurds and Arabs were analyzed for eight Y-chromosome STRs (DYS19, DYS392, DYS437, DYS448, DYS456, DYS458, DYS635 and Y-GATA-H4). Total DNA from blood cells was extracted using DNA extraction Kit.Results: A number of genetic parameters such as mean number of alleles, allele frequency, gene diversity, polymorphic information content (PIC), and genetic distance were calculated using Power Marker V3.25 software. The DYS458 had the highest diversity (GD: 0.883), while loci DYS456 and Y-GATA-H4 had the lowest (GD: 0.574). The Dendrogram separated the populations into two main clades, the Kurd group and the Arab group except in one case only from the whole population. Conclusions: This study confirms the discriminating power of high-resolution Y-STR typing and provides first primary dataset on Iraqi Kurdistan samples. The comparison of Kurdish and Arab datasets reveals an interesting overall picture of isolation of Kurdish group. The primers DYS19, DYS448, DYS458, and DYS635 can be considered the best for their high PIC power
