    Recently, the studies of relationships in middle-years couple are receiving increased attention from psychologists. In this article, the author selectively reviews some of the significant research that have been made toward understanding the relationships of middle-years couple, with the purpose of finding the task that need to be achieved in order to make an important advances in psychological knowledge. The author\u27s thesis is following: In the study of relationships, researchers should adapt the systems perspective to their own research, and it is achieved by using fully worked-out methodological strategies and analytical techniques called “pairwise approach”

    A review of positive illusions studies

    Taylor & Brown(1988)review articles and show positively biased perception as a normal human thought, and researches of positive illusions are started from this review. This study reviews previous research on positive illusions in both overseas and Japan, and then explores how the definition of positive illusions has been changed and how the methodology of measurement of positive illusions has been developed. Also, the author selectively reviews some of the significant studies that have been made toward understanding the effects of positive illusions with the purpose of showing main issues in previous researches. As future tasks, the author proposes that collecting hierarchical data and using of hierarchical analysis such as hierarchical linear modeling or pairwise approach, more contrivance on measurement of positive illusions, more qualitative researches, and more longitudinal studies are needed
