    Chloride induced corrosion of steel reinforcement in concrete is the main cause of damage to concrete structures in marine, or structures exposed to de-icing salt environments. The need for early detection of corrosion in reinforced concrete structures is widely acknowledged in corrosion health monitoring for strategic civil engineering projects. This paper summarizes results from a laboratory experiment, using Acoustic Emission (AE) technique, regarding early detection of corrosion in reinforced concrete slabs that are exposed to chloride. The Results showed that while AE was able to determine the initiation of corrosion in reinforced concrete slab, Half-cell potential (HCP) was not able to detect it at the early stage of corrosion

    Damage classification in reinforced concrete beam by acoustic emission signal analysis

    Acoustic Emission (AE) is a non-destructive testing technique which can be used to identify both the damage level and the nature of that damage such as tensile cracks and shear movements at critical zones within a structure. In this work, the acoustic emission parameters of amplitude, rise time, average frequency and signal strength were used to classify the damage and to determine the damage level. Laboratory experiments were performed on a beam (150 x 250 x 1900 mm). The acoustic emission analysis was successfully used to determine crack movements and classify damage levels in accordance with the observations made during an increasing loading cycle

    The radio frequency discharge plasma sources are widely utilized to prepare functional thin films and to etch insulated layers in semiconductor devices in microelectronic industry. Especially, a capacitively coupled plasma (CCP) is the most popular discharge because the equipment is very simple and almost maintenance free. However, there is a problem such as low-density plasma under low-gas pressure less than 10 Pa, that is, low processing rate. In this chapter, the production principle of conventional CCP and the special CCP with various electrodes and magnets is reviewed. The applications prepared by the special CCP system are also presented. Finally, the future plan including problems is described

    Deep Reinforcement Learning-Based Channel Allocation for Wireless LANs with Graph Convolutional Networks

    Last year, IEEE 802.11 Extremely High Throughput Study Group (EHT Study Group) was established to initiate discussions on new IEEE 802.11 features. Coordinated control methods of the access points (APs) in the wireless local area networks (WLANs) are discussed in EHT Study Group. The present study proposes a deep reinforcement learning-based channel allocation scheme using graph convolutional networks (GCNs). As a deep reinforcement learning method, we use a well-known method double deep Q-network. In densely deployed WLANs, the number of the available topologies of APs is extremely high, and thus we extract the features of the topological structures based on GCNs. We apply GCNs to a contention graph where APs within their carrier sensing ranges are connected to extract the features of carrier sensing relationships. Additionally, to improve the learning speed especially in an early stage of learning, we employ a game theory-based method to collect the training data independently of the neural network model. The simulation results indicate that the proposed method can appropriately control the channels when compared to extant methods
