Coisotropic Branes, Noncommutativity, and the Mirror Correspondence
We study coisotropic A-branes in the sigma model on a four-torus by
explicitly constructing examples. We find that morphisms between coisotropic
branes can be equated with a fundamental representation of the noncommutatively
deformed algebra of functions on the intersection. The noncommutativity
parameter is expressed in terms of the bundles on the branes. We conjecture
these findings hold in general. To check mirror symmetry, we verify that the
dimensions of morphism spaces are equal to the corresponding dimensions of
morphisms between mirror objects.Comment: 13 page
Anomalies and Graded Coisotropic Branes
We compute the anomaly of the axial U(1) current in the A-model on a
Calabi-Yau manifold, in the presence of coisotropic branes discovered by
Kapustin and Orlov. Our results relate the anomaly-free condition to a recently
proposed definition of graded coisotropic branes in Calabi-Yau manifolds. More
specifically, we find that a coisotropic brane is anomaly-free if and only if
it is gradable. We also comment on a different grading for coisotropic
submanifolds introduced recently by Oh.Comment: AMS Tex, 11 page
BFV-complex and higher homotopy structures
We present a connection between the BFV-complex (abbreviation for
Batalin-Fradkin-Vilkovisky complex) and the so-called strong homotopy Lie
algebroid associated to a coisotropic submanifold of a Poisson manifold. We
prove that the latter structure can be derived from the BFV-complex by means of
homotopy transfer along contractions. Consequently the BFV-complex and the
strong homotopy Lie algebroid structure are quasi-isomorphic and
control the same formal deformation problem.
However there is a gap between the non-formal information encoded in the
BFV-complex and in the strong homotopy Lie algebroid respectively. We prove
that there is a one-to-one correspondence between coisotropic submanifolds
given by graphs of sections and equivalence classes of normalized Maurer-Cartan
elemens of the BFV-complex. This does not hold if one uses the strong homotopy
Lie algebroid instead.Comment: 50 pages, 6 figures; version 4 is heavily revised and extende
Semiclassical stationary states for nonlinear Schroedinger equations with fast decaying potentials
We study the existence of stationnary positive solutions for a class of
nonlinear Schroedinger equations with a nonnegative continuous potential V.
Amongst other results, we prove that if V has a positive local minimum, and if
the exponent of the nonlinearity satisfies N/(N-2)<p<(N+2)/(N-2), then for
small epsilon the problem admits positive solutions which concentrate as
epsilon goes to 0 around the local minimum point of V. The novelty is that no
restriction is imposed on the rate of decay of V. In particular, we cover the
case where V is compactly supported.Comment: 22 page
Coisotropic D8-branes and Model-building
Up to now chiral type IIA vacua have been mostly based on intersecting
D6-branes wrapping special Lagrangian 3-cycles on a CY three-fold. We argue
that there are additional BPS D-branes which have so far been neglected, and
which seem to have interesting model-building features. They are coisotropic
D8-branes, in the sense of Kapustin and Orlov. The D8-branes wrap 5-dimensional
submanifolds of the CY which are trivial in homology, but contain a worldvolume
flux that induces D6-brane charge on them. This induced D6-brane charge not
only renders the D8-brane BPS, but also creates D=4 chirality when two
D8-branes intersect. We discuss in detail the case of a type IIA Z2 x Z2
orientifold, where we provide explicit examples of coisotropic D8-branes. We
study the chiral spectrum, SUSY conditions, and effective field theory of
different systems of D8-branes in this orientifold, and show how the magnetic
fluxes generate a superpotential for untwisted Kahler moduli. Finally, using
both D6-branes and coisotropic D8-branes we construct new examples of MSSM-like
type IIA vacua.Comment: 63 pages, 11 figures. Typos corrected and comments adde
Study of Bs-> \phi l^+ l^-$ Decay in a Single Universal Extra Dimension
Utilizing form factors calculated within the light-cone sum rules, we have
evaluated the decay branching ratios of and in a single universal extra dimension model (UED), which is
viewed as one of the alternative theories beyond the standard model (SM). For
the decay , the dilepton invariant mass spectra, the
forward-backward asymmetry, and double lepton polarization are also calculated.
For each case, we compared the obtained results with predictions of the SM. In
lower values of the compactification factor 1/R, the only parameter in this
model, we see the considerable discrepancy between the UED and SM models.
However, when 1/R increases, the results of UED tend to diminish and at , two models have approximately the same predictions.
Compared with data from CDF of , the 1/R tends to be
larger than . We also note that the zero crossing point of
the forward-backward asymmetry is become smaller, which will be an important
plat to prob the contribution from the extra dimension model. The results
obtained in this work will be very useful in searching new physics beyond SM.
Moreover, the order of magnitude for branching ratios shows a possibility to
study these channels at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), CDF and the future
super-B factory.Comment: 13 pages, 16 figure
Single Spin Asymmetry in Polarized Proton-Proton Elastic Scattering at GeV
We report a high precision measurement of the transverse single spin
asymmetry at the center of mass energy GeV in elastic
proton-proton scattering by the STAR experiment at RHIC. The was measured
in the four-momentum transfer squared range \GeVcSq, the region of a significant interference between the
electromagnetic and hadronic scattering amplitudes. The measured values of
and its -dependence are consistent with a vanishing hadronic spin-flip
amplitude, thus providing strong constraints on the ratio of the single
spin-flip to the non-flip amplitudes. Since the hadronic amplitude is dominated
by the Pomeron amplitude at this , we conclude that this measurement
addresses the question about the presence of a hadronic spin flip due to the
Pomeron exchange in polarized proton-proton elastic scattering.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figure
High non-photonic electron production in + collisions at = 200 GeV
We present the measurement of non-photonic electron production at high
transverse momentum ( 2.5 GeV/) in + collisions at
= 200 GeV using data recorded during 2005 and 2008 by the STAR
experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). The measured
cross-sections from the two runs are consistent with each other despite a large
difference in photonic background levels due to different detector
configurations. We compare the measured non-photonic electron cross-sections
with previously published RHIC data and pQCD calculations. Using the relative
contributions of B and D mesons to non-photonic electrons, we determine the
integrated cross sections of electrons () at 3 GeV/10 GeV/ from bottom and charm meson decays to be = 4.0({\rm
stat.})({\rm syst.}) nb and =
6.2({\rm stat.})({\rm syst.}) nb, respectively.Comment: 17 pages, 17 figure
Evolution of the differential transverse momentum correlation function with centrality in Au+Au collisions at GeV
We present first measurements of the evolution of the differential transverse
momentum correlation function, {\it C}, with collision centrality in Au+Au
interactions at GeV. {\it C} exhibits a strong dependence
on collision centrality that is qualitatively similar to that of number
correlations previously reported. We use the observed longitudinal broadening
of the near-side peak of {\it C} with increasing centrality to estimate the
ratio of the shear viscosity to entropy density, , of the matter formed
in central Au+Au interactions. We obtain an upper limit estimate of
that suggests that the produced medium has a small viscosity per unit entropy.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures, STAR paper published in Phys. Lett.
Effect of event selection on jetlike correlation measurement in d+Au collisions at sNN=200 GeV
AbstractDihadron correlations are analyzed in sNN=200 GeV d+Au collisions classified by forward charged particle multiplicity and zero-degree neutral energy in the Au-beam direction. It is found that the jetlike correlated yield increases with the event multiplicity. After taking into account this dependence, the non-jet contribution on the away side is minimal, leaving little room for a back-to-back ridge in these collisions
