An algebraic SU(1,1) solution for the relativistic hydrogen atom
The bound eigenfunctions and spectrum of a Dirac hydrogen atom are found
taking advantage of the Lie algebra in which the radial part of the
problem can be expressed. For defining the algebra we need to add to the
description an additional angular variable playing essentially the role of a
phase. The operators spanning the algebra are used for defining ladder
operators for the radial eigenfunctions of the relativistic hydrogen atom and
for evaluating its energy spectrum. The status of the Johnson-Lippman operator
in this algebra is also investigated.Comment: to appear in Physics Letters A (2005). We corrected a misprint in

[EN] This article shows the need for a new theory of juridical argumentation in criminal matters. It gives an account on the history of the Mexican Federal Penal Code. It also differentiates juridical science from criminal law. Criminal science cannot be seen only as argumentation, it is necessary to judge and argue giving more importance to the critical interpretation in the light of modern hermeneutics
Derechos humanos y juicios orales.
[EN] Faced with a pragmatic problem –transforming the modern criminal justice process into a restorative process–, the present article deals with a cognitive problem: how can we raise awareness among Mexico’s inhabitants about the need for oral trials to develop towards Human Rights? Such an aporia originates from the Reform of the Political Constitution of Mexico, in terms of Criminal Justice, Public Security and Organized Crime, enacted on June 18, 2008, which puts together the modern criminal justice process and a perverse society
Pedagogy in diverse secondary school classes: Legacies for higher education
As university teachers we find ourselves grappling with the increasingly diverse
legacies of students’ prior pedagogic experiences – some of which seem to work against
the quality intellectual outcomes now demanded from higher education. In this context,
this paper reports a descriptive study of pedagogy created for Chinese students in a
mainstream Australian secondary school with a high level of tertiary entry. An
influential literature on student learning in higher education has pointed to the
constraining effects of bothWestern and Chinese secondary schooling on university
students’ learning. In the case of Chinese students who enter Western universities from
Western secondary schools, the picture is complicated by research indicating that
students of English as a Second Language (ESL) receive even more constraining forms
of pedagogy than their native-English-speaking peers. A framework of Bernsteinian
sociological concepts and discourse analytic concepts was employed in the study
reported here to explore this possibility. Implications are drawn for managing the
transition of ESL students to university contexts, and for reflecting on our own
responses to linguistic and cultural diversity in the tutorial room
Anaerobic 4-hydroxyproline utilization: Discovery of a new glycyl radical enzyme in the human gut microbiome uncovers a widespread microbial metabolic activity.
The discovery of enzymes responsible for previously unappreciated microbial metabolic pathways furthers our understanding of host-microbe and microbe-microbe interactions. We recently identified and characterized a new gut microbial glycyl radical enzyme (GRE) responsible for anaerobic metabolism of trans-4-hydroxy-l-proline (Hyp). Hyp dehydratase (HypD) catalyzes the removal of water from Hyp to generate Δ1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate (P5C). This enzyme is encoded in the genomes of a diverse set of gut anaerobes and is prevalent and abundant in healthy human stool metagenomes. Here, we discuss the roles HypD may play in different microbial metabolic pathways as well as the potential implications of this activity for colonization resistance and pathogenesis within the human gut. Finally, we present evidence of anaerobic Hyp metabolism in sediments through enrichment culturing of Hyp-degrading bacteria, highlighting the wide distribution of this pathway in anoxic environments beyond the human gut

The Exemption Status of the Bona Fide Pledgee of Unregistered Securities Under the Securities Act of 1933
The number of connections of photovoltaic (PV) to distribution network is increasing. Very few PV connection guidelines that distribution system operators (DSOs) can refer to have been found. This paper deals with network planning guidelines for distribution networks with PV. The paper aims to identify planning rules that are relatively easy to implement.QC 20140625</p
Existence and Uniqueness of Solutions to a Nonlocal Equation with Monostable Nonlinearity
Let , , \int_{\tiny\mathbb{R}} J = 1 and
consider the nonlocal diffusion operator . We
study the equation , , in ,
where is a KPP-type nonlinearity, periodic in . We show that the
principal eigenvalue of the linearization around zero is well defined and that
a nontrivial solution of the nonlinear problem exists if and only if this
eigenvalue is negative. We prove that if, additionally, is symmetric, then
the nontrivial solution is unique
