    糖尿病培训手册在培养糖尿病护士的应用

    Objective: To explore the nursing service mode for specialized nurses in diabetes and its application effect. Methods:In view of the actual situation of our hospital, a special training manual named with Diabetes training manual was prior composed. 40 specialized nurses in diabetes were trained with the special training manual. Training lasted for 3 months. After the training, the specialized nurses were assessed with the specialty knowledge of Diabetes Mellitus, the skill of clinical procedures, and the knowledge about patients' health education. Results: The skill of the trained nurses was improved. The satisfaction of patients was enhanced.Conclusion: Diabetes training manual can be used for specialized nurses in diabetes.目的  探讨糖尿病护士培训方式。方法  对2013年1—10月本院内分泌科的40名糖尿病护士培训,根据以往医院的培训,结合本院实际,应用自编的糖尿病培训手册,最后考核糖尿病专科理论、操作及宣教能力考核,培训时间为3个月。结果  培训前与培训后比较差别有统计学意义(P<0.05),理论、操作及健康宣教能力较培训前提高;提高了患者及新护士的满意度。结论  糖尿病培训手册可以用于培养糖尿病新护士

    Serum CYR61 Is Associated With Airway Inflammation and Is a Potential Biomarker for Severity in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

    Background: Cysteine-rich 61 (CYR61) and inflammation was upregulated in the lungs of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, the association between CYR61 and inflammation was unclear in COPD patients. This study aimed to analyze the association of serum CYR61 with pulmonary inflammation and lung function indexes in COPD patients.Methods: One hundred and fifty COPD patients and 150 control subjects were enrolled. Serum and pulmonary CYR61 was detected. Lung function indexes were evaluated in COPD patients.Results: Serum CYR61 level was elevated and pulmonary CYR61 expression was upregulated in COPD patients. An increased CYR61 was associated with decreased pulmonary function indexes in COPD patients. Further analyses showed that nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) p65-positive nuclei was elevated in the lungs of COPD patients with high level of CYR61. Accordingly, serum monocyte chemotactic protein (MCP)-1 and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), two downstream inflammatory cytokines of NF-κB pathway, were increased in parallel with CYR61, among which serum MCP-1 and TNF-α were the highest in COPD patients with high level of CYR61. Moreover, a positive correlation, determined by multivariate regression that excluded the influence of age, gender and smoking, was observed between serum CYR61 and inflammatory cytokines in COPD patients.Conclusion: These results provide evidence that an increased CYR61 is associated with pulmonary inflammation and COPD progression. Inflammatory cytokines may be the mediators between CYR61 elevation and COPD progression

    Guanylate-binding Protein 1 (GBP1) contributes to the immunity of human mesenchymal stromal cells against toxoplasma gondii

    Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) have recently been shown to play important roles in mammalian host defenses against intracellular pathogens, but the molecular mechanism still needs to be clarified. We confirmed that human MSCs (hMSCs) pre-stimulated with IFN-γ showed a significant and dose-dependent ability to inhibit the growth of two types of Toxoplasma gondii (type I strain RH/GFP or type II strain PLK/RED). However, in contrast to previous reports, the anti-T. gondii activity of hMSCs was not mediated by indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO). Genome-wide RNA-seq analysis revealed that IFN-γ increased the expression of the p65 family of guanylate-binding proteins (hGBPs) in hMSCs, especially hGBP1. To analyze the functional role of hGBPs, stable knockdowns of hGBP1, -2, -5 in hMSCs were established using a lentiviral transfection system. hGBP1 knockdown in hMSCs resulted in a significant loss of the anti-T. gondii host defense property, compared with hMSCs infected with non-targetted control sequences. hGBP2 and -5 knockdowns had no effect. Moreover, the hGBP1 accumulation on the parasitophorous vacuole (PV) membranes of IFN-γ-stimulated hMSCs might protect against T. gondii infection. Taken together, our results suggest that hGBP1 plays a pivotal role in anti-T. gondii protection of hMSCs and may shed new light on clarifying the mechanism of host defense properties of hMSCs

    Microarray-based analysis of microRNA expression in breast cancer stem cells

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>This study aimed to determine the miRNA profile in breast cancer stem cells (BCSCs) and to explore the functions of characteristic BCSC miRNAs.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>We isolated ESA<sup>+</sup>CD44<sup>+</sup>CD24<sup>-/low </sup>BCSCs from MCF-7 cells using fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS). A human breast cancer xenograft assay was performed to validate the stem cell properties of the isolated cells, and microarray analysis was performed to screen for BCSC-related miRNAs. These BCSC-related miRNAs were selected for bioinformatic analysis and target prediction using online software programs.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>The ESA<sup>+</sup>CD44<sup>+</sup>CD24<sup>-/low </sup>cells had up to 100- to 1000-fold greater tumor-initiating capability than the MCF-7 cells. Tumors initiated from the ESA<sup>+</sup>CD44<sup>+</sup>CD24<sup>-/low </sup>cells were included of luminal epithelial and myoepithelial cells, indicating stem cell properties. We also obtained miRNA profiles of ESA<sup>+</sup>CD44<sup>+</sup>CD24<sup>-/low </sup>BCSCs. Most of the possible targets of potential tumorigenesis-related miRNAs were oncogenes, anti-oncogenes or regulatory genes.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>We identified a subset of miRNAs that were differentially expressed in BCSCs, providing a starting point to explore the functions of these miRNAs. Evaluating characteristic BCSC miRNAs represents a new method for studying breast cancer-initiating cells and developing therapeutic strategies aimed at eradicating the tumorigenic subpopulation of cells in breast cancer.</p

    Human bocavirus (HBoV) and HBoV2, two human bocavirus species, were found in 18 and 10 of 235 nasopharyngeal aspirates, respectively, from children hospitalized with acute respiratory tract infection. Our results suggest that, like HBoV, HBoV2 is distributed worldwide and may be associated with respiratory and enteric diseases

    Chitosan Modification and Pharmaceutical/Biomedical Applications

    Chitosan has received much attention as a functional biopolymer for diverse applications, especially in pharmaceutics and medicine. Our recent efforts focused on the chemical and biological modification of chitosan in order to increase its solubility in aqueous solutions and absorbability in the in vivo system, thus for a better use of chitosan. This review summarizes chitosan modification and its pharmaceutical/biomedical applications based on our achievements as well as the domestic and overseas developments: (1) enzymatic preparation of low molecular weight chitosans/chitooligosaccharides with their hypocholesterolemic and immuno-modulating effects; (2) the effects of chitin, chitosan and their derivatives on blood hemostasis; and (3) synthesis of a non-toxic ion ligand—D-Glucosaminic acid from Oxidation of D-Glucosamine for cancer and diabetes therapy

    Design of the Anti-tuberculosis Drugs induced Adverse Reactions in China National Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Scheme Study (ADACS)

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>More than 1 million tuberculosis (TB) patients are receiving the standard anti-TB treatment provided by China National Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Scheme (CNTS) in China every year. Adverse reactions (ADRs) induced by anti-TB drugs could both do harm to patients and lead to anti-TB treatment failure. The ADACS aimed to explore ADRs' incidences, prognoses, economical and public health impacts for TB patients and TB control, and build a DNA bank of TB patients.</p> <p>Methods/Design</p> <p>Multiple study designs were adopted. Firstly, a prospective cohort with 4488 sputum smears positive pulmonary tuberculosis patients was established. Patients were followed up for 6-9 months in 52 counties of four regions. Those suspected ADRs should be checked and confirmed by Chinese State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA). Secondly, if the suspected ADR was anti-TB drug induced liver injury (ATLI), a nested case-control study would be performed which comprised choosing a matched control and doing a plus questionnaire inquiry. Thirdly, health economical data of ADRs would be collected to analyze financial burdens brought by ADRs and cost-effectiveness of ADRs' treatments. Fourthly, a drop of intravenous blood for each patient was taken and saved in FTA card for DNA banking and genotyping. Finally, the demographic, clinical, environmental, administrative and genetic data would be merged for the comprehensive analysis.</p> <p>Discussion</p> <p>ADACS will give an overview of anti-TB drugs induced ADRs' incidences, risk factors, treatments, prognoses, and clinical, economical and public health impacts for TB patients applying CNTS regimen in China, and provide suggestions for individualized health care and TB control policy.</p

    Measurements of psi(2S) decays to octet baryon-antibaryon pairs

    With a sample of 14 million psi(2S) events collected by the BESII detector at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC), the decay channels psi(2S)->p p-bar, Lambda Lambda-bar, Sigma0 Sigma0-bar, Xi Xi-bar are measured, and their branching ratios are determined to be (3.36+-0.09+-0.24)*10E-4, (3.39+-0.20+-0.32)*10E-4, (2.35+-0.36+-0.32)*10E-4, (3.03+-0.40+-0.32)*10E-4, respectively. In the decay psi(2S)->p p-bar, the angular distribution parameter alpha is determined to be 0.82+-0.17+-0.04.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figure
