Powder containing 2H-type silicon carbide produced by reacting silicon dioxide and carbon powder in nitrogen atmosphere in the presence of aluminum
The production of powder which contains silicon carbide consisting of 40% of 2H-type silicon carbide, beta type silicon carbide and less than 3% of nitrogen is discussed. The reaction temperature to produce the powder containing 40% of 2H-type silicon carbide is set at above 1550 degrees C in an atmosphere of aluminum or aluminum compounds and nitrogen gas or an antioxidation atmosphere containing nitrogen gas. The mixture ratio of silicon dioxide and carbon powder is 0.55 - 1:2.0 and the contents of aluminum or aluminum compounds within silicon dioxide is less than 3% in weight
Consideration of the Peak Horizontal Velocity
Examining the relation between peak horizontal ground acceleration and peak horizontal ground velocity of past earthquakes, the ratio of velocity increase to acceleration increase is small for larger motions. The reason is guessed that if the earth stiffness enters the plastic zone or the earth is destroyed at high level motion, the resistance to velocity increases. Therefore, when seismic design is formulated by considering the plastic zone of materials at high-level motion, the motion energy method using velocity is more suitable than the force method using responded acceleration

Michael Jackson's Performance of Difference: Dance as Ostracism and Wonderment
During his reign as the world’s “King of Pop,” Michael Jackson inspired as much fascination with his physical appearance and private life as his artistry. We have seen Jackson portrayed as freak, alien, machine, magician, a new frontier, a cautionary tale, and even a nightmare. However, I’m suggesting that we focus on the underlying theme of difference that exists in Michael Jackson’s artistic work and more specifically, in his body and movement. In this thesis, I approach Michael Jackson’s difference by concentrating on his dancing and delineating it as that which determines his difference and that which helps the audience find likeness in him. That is, the function and power of Jackson’s movement is two-fold: it is both what sets him apart and what permits his acceptance. Ultimately, Jackson demonstrates the intense power of the body and of movement, and the varied influence they can have over his audience’s perception and reception of him. My thesis can be broken down into two parts: the problem Michael Jackson’s difference poses for society, and the response, in which Jackson has adopted and responded to the problem of his difference in order to deflect political issues
