Visual reinforcement audiometry with different sound stimuli in children
BACKGROND: hearing evaluation in children. AIM: to verify the Minimum Response Levels (MRL) through the use of Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA) in the sound field, in 50 normal hearing children and in 25 children with hearing loss, taking into account the following variables: side of sound presentation, gender, age and type of stimulus. METHOD: VRA was performed using pure tone frequency modulation (warble) and the Sonar System. The modulated tones were produced by the Pediatric Audiometer, in the frequencies of 500, 1000, 2000 and 4000Hz and at the intensities of 80, 60, 40 and 20dBNA. The modulated tones were presented in a decreasing sequence of intensity and by using the stimulus-reply-visual reinforcement conditioning. The assessment procedure and analysis of response were the same when using the stimuli of the Sonar System. However, on this occasion, a sound amplification box was used. Each loudspeaker with the visual reinforcement was positioned approximately at 90º azimuth to the right and the left of the child, and at a distance of approximately 50 cm. Visual reinforcement was an illuminated clown. RESULTS: no statistically significant difference was found between the MNL and the side of sound presentation. The MRL at 500Hz and 2000Hz, when using the Sonar System, were lower for normal hearing males. In this group, there was a decrease in the MRL with the increase in age for both stimuli. When comparing the MRL with two stimuli, there was a statistically significant difference in favor of the Sonar System, but only for the group of normal hearing children below two years of age. CONCLUSION: the MRL decrease with age independently of the stimulus and are lower when using the Sonar System. For the group of children with hearing loss no significant difference was found for any of the studied variables.TEMA: avaliação auditiva infantil.

Continuing education of literacy teachers in Brazil: Perceptions about the PNAIC
The specific objectives were to verify if the literacy teacher understood their role in the management of pedagogical work and the concept of literacy at the right age, in addition to identifying if there was appropriation of educational policy guidelines for the training of the literacy teacher as an agent of social responsibility in the teaching and learning process. A theoretical contribution was sought in Day, Gatti, Nóvoa, Sacristán and Tardif. The eligible literacy teachers participating in the research acted as regents in the classes of the literacy cycle. The data collected for research were obtained through questionnaires answered by ninety-six (96) teachers of the educational network of São José dos Pinhais, a municipality in the state of Paraná, and analyzed according to Bardin's proposal. As a result, the analyzes showed that literacy teachers understand the meaning of literacy at the right age, but did not appropriate all the guidelines of this educational policy and it was possible to verify that less than half of the participants do not assume the pedagogical work in literacy with social responsibilit
Evaluation of the noise exposure of symphonic orchestra musicians
For musicians, the impact of noise exposure is not yet fully characterized. Some inconsistencies can be found in the
methodology used to evaluate noise exposure. This study aims to analyze the noise exposure of musicians in a symphonic
orchestra to understand their risk for hearing loss, applying the methodology proposed by ISO 9612:2009. Noise levels
were monitored among musicians during the rehearsal of eight different repertoires. Test subjects were selected according
to their instrument and position in the orchestra. Participants wore noise dosimeters throughout the rehearsals. A sound
meter was used to analyze the exposure of the conductor. The results showed that musicians are exposed to high noise
levels that can damage hearing. Brass, woodwind and percussion and timpani musicians were exposed to noise levels
in excess of the upper exposure action level of 85 dB (A), while the other instrumental groups had a lower exposure
action level of 80 dB (A). Percussion musicians were exposed to high peak noise levels of 135 dB (C). Sound levels
varied by instrument, repertoire and position. Octave frequency analyses showed differences among musicians. This
study suggests that musicians are at risk for hearing loss. There is a need for more effective guidelines applicable to
all countries, which should define standardized procedures for determining musician noise exposure and should allow
exposure level normalization to the year, including different repertoires
Influence of the segmentation method – automatic vs. manual – and the presence or not of extra myocardial activity in quantification of defect extent in SPECT myocardial studies
The Myocardial Perfusion Imaging (MPI) by single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) is one of the most widely used Non-invasive imaging test in the diagnosis of coronary artery disease that requires a correct segmentation of the left ventricle (LV), to extract perfusion parameters. The aim of this study is to evaluate the influence of automatic (A) vs. manual (M) segmentation in quantification of defect extent (DE) of myocardial perfusion, in studies with and without extra myocardial activity. Methodology – A retrospective study with a non-probabilistic sample was used, for convenience, of 63 stress studies, with indication for MPI available in Xeleris® workstation database in ESTeSL, that were divided into four groups: Group I (GI): 26 studies by presenting a DE below 10% of the total surface area of the LV; Group II (GII): 5 studies with a DE equal or above 10%; Group III (GIII): 21 studies with a DE below 10%, with extra myocardial activity and Group IV (GIV): 11 studies with a DE, with extra myocardial activity. All studies were segmented, by one operator, using the A and the M quantification software Quantitative Perfusion SPECT (QPS®). For data analysis from the map polar with 20 segments were used t-Student, Wilcoxon and U de Mann-Whitney tests, considering α=0.05. Results – Concerning the perfusion DE evaluation it was verified that there were statistically significant differences (p>α) between the A vs. M segmentation, in the segments 13-15 (GI); segments 13 and 16 (GIII) and the segments 1 and 16 (GIV). Regarding the studies with and without extra myocardial activity, it was observed that no statistically significant variability exists (p>α). Conclusion – On the basis of the sample analyzed there are differences between an A vs. M segmentation in peripheral segments of
the polar map, in myocardial perfusion ED evaluation. There are no differences between myocardial perfusion DE in studies with and without extra myocardial activity.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Sound production in the Meagre, Argyrosomus regius (Asso, 1801): intraspecific variability associated with size, sex and context
Many fish taxa produce sound in voluntary and in disturbance contexts but information on the full acoustic repertoire is lacking for most species. Yet, this knowledge is critical to enable monitoring fish populations in nature through acoustic monitoring.Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology: PTDC/BIA-BMA/30517/2017; SFRH/BD/115562/2016; UID/MAR/04292/2019; UID/BIA/00329/2019; PTDC/BIA-BMA/29662/2017.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
The objective of this dissertation is to analyze how RTP-Açores, namely Telejornal, marked the transition of its work to social networks in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The pandemic brought many constraints and, like other areas and sectors, the world of communication and media also had to adjust in order to continue to fulfill its purpose in this case as a public television channel in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
Social networks are increasingly becoming a tool that is an integral part of our daily lives from a personal and professional perspective.
So we asked several questions, including how did RTP-Açores make its transition to social networks? Did RTP-Açores adapt the content? Created new ones? How did RTP-Açores embrace the challenge? How RTP-Açores faced with new opportunities to interact with audience?
This analysis intends to find possible answers in a context of change and cyclical crisis on a global scale in which the Azores Archipelago, despite its geographical discontinuity, whether in relation to mainland Portugal or inter-islands, was not left out
