Floristic composition of three successional stages of a riparian forest in the municipality of Arroio do Padre, very south of Brazil

 O objetivo foi caracterizar a composição e as relações florísticas de estágios sucessionais de uma mata ciliar em um fragmento de Floresta Estacional Semidecidual no Município de Arroio do Padre, extremo sul do Brasil. A área amostral foi 1,2 ha, dividida em 0,2 ha para capoeira (5 anos de regeneração), 0,5 ha para floresta secundária (45 anos de regeneração) e 0,5 ha de floresta madura. Em parcelas de 10 x 10 m, foram amostrados todos os indivíduos arbustivo-arbóreos com DAP ≥5 cm. A riqueza nos três estágios sucessionais revelou 72 espécies, distribuídas em 52 gêneros e 33 famílias. A capoeira apresentou menor número de táxons, enquanto na fase madura ocorreram maior quantidade (49) e riqueza de espécies exclusivas (20). A composição florística foi influenciada pelo estágio sucessional, e a classificação das parcelas pela análise de similaridade formou agrupamentos conforme a idade da regeneração. Isso reflete a adaptação da comunidade às condições ambientais proporcionadas pelo avanço da sucessão ecológica. Assim, recomenda-se que as estratégias de restauração florestal considerem as espécies adaptadas ao estágio sucessional, a fim de maximizar os projetos de reflorestamento e restauração ecológica.Palavras-chave: Pelotas; Floresta Estacional Semidecidual; sucessão florestal; ecologia florestal. AbstractFloristic composition of three successional stages of a riparian forest in the municipality of Arroio do Padre, very south of Brazil. Probing intermolecular interactions in a diethylcarbamazine citrate salt by fast MAS 1 H solid-state NMR spectroscopy and GIPAW calculations

Fast magic-angle spinning (MAS) NMR is used to probe intermolecular interactions in a diethylcarbamazine salt, that is widely used as a treatment against adult worms of Wuchereria bancrofti which cause a common disease in tropical countries named filariasis. Specifically, a dihydrogen citrate salt that has improved thermal stability and solubility as compared to the free form is studied. One-dimensional 1H, 13C and 15N and two-dimensional 1H-13C and 14N-1H heteronuclear correlation NMR experiments under moderate and fast MAS together with GIPAW (CASTEP) calculations enable the assignment of the 1H, 13C and 14N/15N resonances. A two-dimensional 1H-1H double-quantum (DQ) –single-quantum (SQ) MAS spectrum recorded with BaBa recoupling at 60 kHz MAS identifies specific proton-proton proximities associated with citrate-citrate and citrate-diethylcarbamazine intermolecular interactions

O Batalhão de Infantaria em contexto arquipelágico e a sua dupla valência como contributo para a defesa imediata do arquipélago e para o apoio em missões de proteção civil e em tarefas de auxílio ao desenvolvimento e bem-estar das populações

Os Batalhões de Infantaria sediados no arquipélago dos Açores constituem-se como a face mais visível e disponível do Exército para emprego nas missões constitucionalmente previstas, nomeadamente na defesa imediata e no apoio a missões de proteção civil. Importa por isso investigar de que forma esta dupla valência é passível de ser maximizada, analisando o contexto regional e o enquadramento legal, os recursos humanos e materiais existentes que podem ser utilizados em duplo uso e, finalmente, as lacunas e vulnerabilidades na projeção e interoperabilidade que importam colmatar. Neste estudo, a metodologia preconizada assentou fundamentalmente numa estratégia de investigação qualitativa baseada no raciocínio dedutivo e num desenho de pesquisa transversal. A investigação recorreu à análise documental e complementou-a com a realização de entrevistas semiestruturadas que permitiram introduzir importantes aspetos de índole prática. Foi possível constatar que, globalmente, os Batalhões de Infantaria maximizam o princípio do duplo uso nas suas estruturas e foram identificadas claras sinergias. Foram identificadas ainda algumas lacunas, quer no vetor do material quer no tocante à projeção e interoperabilidade. As lacunas identificadas não comprometem o cumprimento da missão do Batalhão de Infantaria, no entanto, a sua correção permitiria maximizar o produto operacional desta unidade. Abstract: The Infantry Battalions located at the Azores archipelago constitute themselves as the most visible and available face of the Portuguese Army for employment under the constitutional framework, namely in immediate defense missions and civil protection support missions. It is therefore important to investigate how this dual-use can be maximized, analyzing the regional context and the legal framework, the existing human and material resources that can be applied in dual-use and finally the gaps and vulnerabilities concerning deployment and interoperability that it matters to correct. In this study, the recommended methodology was fundamentally based on a qualitative research strategy that was founded on deductive reasoning and cross-sectional research design. The investigation included documental analysis that was complemented by semistructured interviews which introduced important aspects of practical nature. It was possible to verify, globally, that Infantry Battalions maximize the dual-use functions of their structures and clear synergies have been identified. Some gaps were also identified, specially concerning the equipment dimension as well as the deployment and interoperability. The identified gaps do not jeopardize the fulfilment of the Infantry Battalions’ mission, but if corrected it would be possible to improve the operational output of this unit.N/

Formación en red: la potencialidad del encuentro con el otro al constituirse como docente

El texto reflexiona sobre los principios perseguidos en nuestras acciones de formación, investigación y extensión en la Red de Formación Docente: Narrativas y Experiencias (Red Formad), creada en el año 2010, en la Universidad Federal del Estado de Río de Janeiro, Brasil. Se defienden las redes y colectivos docentes como instancias político-pedagógicas de solidaridad donde se pueden crear y vivir otros tipos de formación, los cuales afirman a los docentes como sujetos de su proceso formativo, productores de conocimiento y saber pedagógico. Finalmente, el artículo comparte los aprendizajes tejidos en el movimiento de experimentar la riqueza político-ético-estético-pedagógica de la formación en red y del pensar con el otro como movimiento de transformación, permitiendo ver algunas acciones formativas que desafían a establecer relaciones decoloniales y dialógicas.O texto reflete sobre princípios perseguidos em nossas ações de formação, pesquisa e extensão no bojo da Rede de Formação Docente: Narrativas e Experiências (Rede Formad), criada no ano de 2010, na Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. PERFIL E CONDIÇÃO ORAL DE PACIENTES COM PNEUMONIA NOSOCOMIAL EM UMA UNIDADE DE TERAPIA INTENSIVA GERAL DE UM HOSPITAL FILANTRÓPICO DO SUL CATARINENSE

Comparar o perfil dos pacientes internados na UTI geral, com as doenças sistêmicas e condições orais presentes que incitem no desenvolvimento da pneumonia nosocomial. Estudo de caráter quantitativo, exploratória e de campo, conduzida em uma UTI geral de um hospital filantrópico de alta complexidade do sul catarinense com a análise do perfil e das condições bucais de 25 pacientes. Dos pacientes internados no referido setor, 6 (24%) tiveram diagnóstico de pneumonia nosocomial, com faixa etária de 60 anos ou mais em 4 (66,7%), do sexo masculino 4 (66,7). Destes, 5 (83,3%) estavam em ventilação mecânica; tabagismo e o etilismo apresentaram-se a 1 (16,7%). Foi constatado que, 3 (50%) dos pacientes são desdentados totais; 3 (50%) apresentaram lesão cariosa cavitada; 3 (50%) biofilme dental em demasia. Presença de alterações do periodonto em 3 (50%) e em 5 (83,3%), biofilme lingual. Houve candidíase em 4 (66,7%), raiz residual em 2 (33,3%) e lesões traumáticas de mucosas em 5 (83,3%) dos pacientes com pneumonia nosocomial. De modo geral, a doença cardiovascular esteve presente nos 17 (68%) indivíduos da amostra. Diante dos dados expostos no presente estudo, não foi possível estabelecer relação entre o perfil dos pacientes internados na UTI geral com as comorbidades e condições orais presentes que incitem no desenvolvimento da pneumonia nosocomial. Entretanto, a ventilação mecânica, o biofilme lingual e as lesões traumáticas da mucosa se mostraram elevadas nos pacientes com pneumonia. As informações da literatura a respeito do sexo, idade e doenças sistêmicas concomitantes foram confirmadas no estudo

Alunos(as) com necessidades educacionais especiais na Educação Física Escolar: relatos de experiências de um professor-pesquisador

Law 13.146/2015 establishes the Brazilian Law for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and mentions education as a right and guarantees an inclusive education system. From the perspective of Inclusive Education, it is not the student who must adapt, but it is up to the school to promote access to knowledge/learning. Thus, we narrate an account of the educational experience of a teacher-researcher with students with Special Educational Needs. The interest in the study arose from the life story of the first author as a teacher and from the challenges with education from an inclusive perspective. The qualitative approach allowed us to weave narratives generated in basic education and analyzed with two teachers-researchers, with the aim of unveiling the plots relevant to inclusion in the experience with Physical Education. Thus, it was provisionally concluded that the process of inclusion in Physical Education classes goes beyond the needs of the students, starting from an affective and experiential experience of the teachers.A Lei 13.146/2015 institui a Lei Brasileira de Inclusão da Pessoa com Deficiência (PcD) e menciona a educação como direito e garantido sistemas educacionais inclusivos. Na perspectiva da Educação Inclusiva não é o(a) aluno(a) que tem que se adaptar, mas cabe a escola promover o acesso ao conhecimento/aprendizado. Assim, objetivamos narrar um relato da experiência educativa de um professor-pesquisador com alunos(as) com Necessidades Educacionais Especiais. O interesse no estudo surgiu frente à história de vida do primeiro autor como docente e diante dos desafios com a educação na perspectiva inclusiva. A abordagem qualitativa nos permitiu tecer narrativas geradas na educação básica e analisadas com duas professoras-pesquisadoras, com o intuito de desvelar os enredos pertinentes à inclusão na experiência com a Educação Física. Dessa forma, concluiu-se provisoriamente que o processo de inclusão nas aulas de Educação Física vai além das necessidades dos(as) alunos(as) partindo de uma vivência afetiva e experiencial dos(as) professores(as)

Effect of cis-9, trans-11 conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) on the metabolism profile of breast cancer cells determined by H HR-MAS NMR spectroscopy

Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a fatty acid found in ruminant food products, has been associated with anticarcinogenic activity. However, its effect on cancer metabolism is unclear. In this paper we evaluated the effects of cis-9, trans-11 CLA on the metabolic profile of MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells using high-resolution magic angle spinning (HR-MAS) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The NMR spectra showed that phosphocholine level, a cancer malignance biomarker, was reduced in both cells treated with CLA, but the reduction was more pronounced in MCF-7 cells. The NMR spectra also showed that CLA has opposite effect on MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 acetone metabolism. Acetone signal has been observed in the spectra of MDA-MB-231 control cells, but not in the spectra of the cells treated with 50 and 100 µM CLA. Conversely, the acetone signal is very small or not observed in the NMR spectra of MCF-7 control cells and in cells treated with 50 µM of CLA, but is very strong in the spectra of the cells treated with 100 µM of CLA. Therefore, this CLA concentration is causing a ketosis in MCF-7 cells by inducing the use of fatty acids as an energy source or by reducing acetone catabolism. These results indicate that CLA interfere in the metabolism of both cells. However, the strongest effect has been observed on the metabolism of MCF-7 cells cultivated in the presence of 100 µM CLA. Therefore, CLA could be a potential anticarcinogenic drug, especially for cells with positive estrogen receptor, such as MCF-7

Mixed rain forest in southeastern Brazil: tree species regeneration and floristic relationships in a remaining stretch of forest near the city of Itaberá, Brazil

The aim of this work was to evaluate the floristic composition, richness, and diversity of the upper and lower strata of a stretch of mixed rain forest near the city of Itaberá, in southeastern Brazil. We also investigated the differences between this conservation area and other stretches of mixed rain forest in southern and southeastern Brazil, as well as other nearby forest formations, in terms of their floristic relationships. For our survey of the upper stratum (diameter at breast height [DBH] &gt; 15 cm), we established 50 permanent plots of 10 × 20 m. Within each of those plots, we designated five, randomly located, 1 × 1 m subplots, in order to survey the lower stratum (total height &gt; 30 cm and DBH < 15 cm). In the upper stratum, we sampled 1429 trees and shrubs, belonging to 134 species, 93 genera, and 47 families. In the lower stratum, we sampled 758 trees and shrubs, belonging to 93 species, 66 genera, and 39 families. In our floristic and phytosociological surveys, we recorded 177 species, belonging to 106 genera and 52 families. The Shannon Diversity Index was 4.12 and 3.5 for the upper and lower strata, respectively. Cluster analysis indicated that nearby forest formations had the strongest floristic influence on the study area, which was therefore distinct from other mixed rain forests in southern Brazil and in the Serra da Mantiqueira mountain range.7186Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq
