Stigmatized individuals make a bias in perceiving emotions on the faces of others (Inzlicht, Kaiser, & Major, 2008). In this study it is expected that homosexual men, compared to heterosexual men, will make a bias in the perception of the expression of disgust in the face of others (Hypothesis 1); It is expected that this bias will be moderated by the perception of the stigma of homosexuality (Hypothesis 2) and by the perception of interpersonal rejection related to the stigma of homosexuality (Hypothesis 3). To test these hypotheses was built an instrument of 20 videos with animated male photos that change emotion progressively were contructed. The dependent variable is the response time to the change of emotion in the videos. Two groups of participants (male homosexuals and male heterosexuals, control group) viewed the videos, responded to a Stigma Perception Scale, and an Interpersonal Rejection Scale related to the Stigma of Homosexuality. Also questioned about a set of sociodemographic data. The results confirm a bias in a specific emotion, disgust. The discussion is made in the light of the theory of stigma and perception of emotions

Business Process Configuration According to Data Dependency Specification

    Get PDF
Configuration techniques have been used in several fields, such as the design of business process models. Sometimes these models depend on the data dependencies, being easier to describe what has to be done instead of how. Configuration models enable to use a declarative representation of business processes, deciding the most appropriate work-flow in each case. Unfortunately, data dependencies among the activities and how they can affect the correct execution of the process, has been overlooked in the declarative specifications and configurable systems found in the literature. In order to find the best process configuration for optimizing the execution time of processes according to data dependencies, we propose the use of Constraint Programming paradigm with the aim of obtaining an adaptable imperative model in function of the data dependencies of the activities described declarative.Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología TIN2015-63502-C3-2-RFondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regiona

La caixa de núvia. Un procés del segle XIV

A fourteenth century caixa de nuvia (a bride's case). This article studies a bride's case, or chest described in the records of a trial that took place in the late fourteenth century, preserved in the Archives of Crown of Aragon. The case was claimed by Eulàlia, a commoner from the region of Barcelona. We study the circumstances of the claim, and then consider the descriptions of the items and the relations between the items and the owner. We stress the structures and the functionality of the chest itself and the meticulous description of contents , mainly second hand household wear and engagement presents. We highlight the relationship between women, especially between the mother and the daughter, and the relationship between these women and their possessions

Prevention of sulfate-induced thaumasite attack: thermodynamic modelling in BaCO3-blended cement

Comunicación presentada en el International Congress on Materials and Structural Stability (CMSS 2013), celebrado en Rabat del 26 al 30 de noviembre de 2013.Thaumasite, an expansive salt, remains stable over a wide range of compositions in the CaO-SiO2-Al2O3-CaCO3-CaSO4-H2O system. Despite its slow formation, it constitutes a risk for the integrity of underground structures such as foundations and tunnels that are in contact with sulfate-containing soil or groundwater. Sulfate-resistant Portland cements, which pursuant to the existing legislation are manufactured with clinker containing 0-5 % of C3A, prevent ettringite- but not thaumasite-mediated concrete deterioration. The present study used thermodynamic modeling to explore the viability of a new type of BaCO3-blended Portland cement able to resist thaumasite formation. The results of sulfate attack (44 wt% Na2SO4 solution), simulated with the GEMS geochemical code in cements with 5 or 20 % BaCO3, or 2.5, 5, 10 or 20% CaCO3 at 8 ºC, showed that less thaumasite precipitated and at higher sulfate/cement ratios in the presence than in the absence of Ba. Particularly at the higher replacement ratio, Ba proved to be able to immobilise sulfates in the medium via the precipitation of BaSO4, a highly insoluble salt, and hamper the precipitation of thaumasite. The study also showed that a higher BaCO3 content in the system hindered thaumasite formation even in the presence of greater amounts of carbonates. At 5 % BaCO3, thaumasite started to precipitate after 53 g of Na2SO4 were added per 100 g of cement, while at 20 %, the sulfate content threshold was higher, at 70 g per 100 g of cement, and smaller quantities of the salt formed.Funding from the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science (Project CONSOLIDER CSD2007-00058) and the Regional Government of Madrid (Geomaterials Programme) is gratefully acknowledged.Peer Reviewe

Detailed molecular characterisation of acute myeloid leukaemia with a normal karyotype using targeted DNA capture

This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported License.-- et al.Advances in sequencing technologies are giving unprecedented insights into the spectrum of somatic mutations underlying acute myeloid leukaemia with a normal karyotype (AML-NK). It is clear that the prognosis of individual patients is strongly influenced by the combination of mutations in their leukaemia and that many leukaemias are composed of multiple subclones, with differential susceptibilities to treatment. Here, we describe a method, employing targeted capture coupled with next-generation sequencing and tailored bioinformatic analysis, for the simultaneous study of 24 genes recurrently mutated in AML-NK. Mutational analysis was performed using open source software and an in-house script (Mutation Identification and Analysis Software), which identified dominant clone mutations with 100% specificity. In each of seven cases of AML-NK studied, we identified and verified mutations in 2-4 genes in the main leukaemic clone. Additionally, high sequencing depth enabled us to identify putative subclonal mutations and detect leukaemia-specific mutations in DNA from remission marrow. Finally, we used normalised read depths to detect copy number changes and identified and subsequently verified a tandem duplication of exons 2-9 of MLL and at least one deletion involving PTEN. This methodology reliably detects sequence and copy number mutations, and can thus greatly facilitate the classification, clinical research, diagnosis and management of AML-NK.We acknowledge the use of the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Biomedical Research Centre, University of Cambridge.
