Equivalence of categories of simple Lie algebras in positive characteristic

In this paper we first study some properties of the finite-dimensional simple restricted Lie algebras. In the literature is found a one-to-one correspondence between them and finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras over a field of positive characteristic. Motivated by this fact, we give a one-to-one correspondence between their morphisms, which allow us to conclude that such categories are equivalen

The region 3 ' to C alpha 1 gene of human IG heavy chain displays a polymorphic duplicated sequence and encodes an RNA associated with polysomes

A highly spread polymorphism flanking the 3 C alpha 1 human IG heavy chain gene was identified. This polymorphism allowed the detection of an internal duplication within the 3' flanking region of both C alpha 1 and C alpha 2. This region has a regulatory function with four enhancer structures also present at the 3' end of the human C alpha 2 as well as in that of mouse and rat single C alpha genes. The 5682-bp sequence of clone lambda p18 described here starts 3' of C alpha 1 and presents three open reading frames; one of them contains part of the tandem repeats with the 20-bp consensus described previously that is expressed in a poly(A)(+) RNA and found in three dbEST clones of the human tonsillar cDNA library. Here, we demonstrate that in the CLF1 B lymphoblastoid cell line, this transcript is associated with polysomes. We also discuss the possibility of the presence of a new regulatory gene that does not encode an immunoglobulin and maps in the human IG heavy chain gene cluster. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. Fuzzy directional enlacement landscapes

    Get PDF
International audienceSpatial relations between objects represented in images are of high importance in various application domains related to pattern recognition and computer vision. By definition, most relations are vague, ambiguous and difficult to formalize precisely by humans. The issue of describing complex spatial configurations, where objects can be imbri-cated in each other, is addressed in this article. A novel spatial relation, called enlacement, is presented and designed using a directional fuzzy landscape approach. We propose a generic fuzzy model that allows to visualize and evaluate complex enlacement configurations between crisp objects, with directional granularity. The interest and the behavior of this approach is highlighted on several characteristic examples

Neutrino-less Double Beta Decay and Particle Physics

We review the particle physics aspects of neutrino-less double beta decay. This process can be mediated by light massive Majorana neutrinos (standard interpretation) or by something else (non-standard interpretations). The physics potential of both interpretations is summarized and the consequences of future measurements or improved limits on the half-life of neutrino-less double beta decay are discussed. We try to cover all proposed alternative realizations of the decay, including light sterile neutrinos, supersymmetric or left-right symmetric theories, Majorons, and other exotic possibilities. Ways to distinguish the mechanisms from one another are discussed. Experimental and nuclear physics aspects are also briefly touched, alternative processes to double beta decay are discussed, and an extensive list of references is provided.Comment: 96 pages, 38 figures. Ellipse-based Principal Component Analysis for Self-intersecting Curve Reconstruction from Noisy Point Sets

Surface reconstruction from cross cuts usually requires curve reconstruction from planar noisy point samples -- The output curves must form a possibly disconnected 1manifold for the surface reconstruction to proceed -- This article describes an implemented algorithm for the reconstruction of planar curves (1manifolds) out of noisy point samples of a sel-fintersecting or nearly sel-fintersecting planar curve C -- C:[a,b]⊂R→R is self-intersecting if C(u)=C(v), u≠v, u,v∈(a,b) (C(u) is the self-intersection point) -- We consider only transversal self-intersections, i.e. those for which the tangents of the intersecting branches at the intersection point do not coincide (C′(u)≠C′(v)) -- In the presence of noise, curves which self-intersect cannot be distinguished from curves which nearly sel fintersect -- Existing algorithms for curve reconstruction out of either noisy point samples or pixel data, do not produce a (possibly disconnected) Piecewise Linear 1manifold approaching the whole point sample -- The algorithm implemented in this work uses Principal Component Analysis (PCA) with elliptic support regions near the selfintersections -- The algorithm was successful in recovering contours out of noisy slice samples of a surface, for the Hand, Pelvis and Skull data sets -- As a test for the correctness of the obtained curves in the slice levels, they were input into an algorithm of surface reconstruction, leading to a reconstructed surface which reproduces the topological and geometrical properties of the original object -- The algorithm robustly reacts not only to statistical noncorrelation at the self-intersections(nonmanifold neighborhoods) but also to occasional high noise at the nonselfintersecting (1manifold) neighborhood

Principal component and Voronoi skeleton alternatives for curve reconstruction from noisy point sets

Surface reconstruction from noisy point samples must take into consideration the stochastic nature of the sample -- In other words, geometric algorithms reconstructing the surface or curve should not insist in following in a literal way each sampled point -- Instead, they must interpret the sample as a “point cloud” and try to build the surface as passing through the best possible (in the statistical sense) geometric locus that represents the sample -- This work presents two new methods to find a Piecewise Linear approximation from a Nyquist-compliant stochastic sampling of a quasi-planar C1 curve C(u) : R → R3, whose velocity vector never vanishes -- One of the methods articulates in an entirely new way Principal Component Analysis (statistical) and Voronoi-Delaunay (deterministic) approaches -- It uses these two methods to calculate the best possible tape-shaped polygon covering the planarised point set, and then approximates the manifold by the medial axis of such a polygon -- The other method applies Principal Component Analysis to find a direct Piecewise Linear approximation of C(u) -- A complexity comparison of these two methods is presented along with a qualitative comparison with previously developed ones -- It turns out that the method solely based on Principal Component Analysis is simpler and more robust for non self-intersecting curves -- For self-intersecting curves the Voronoi-Delaunay based Medial Axis approach is more robust, at the price of higher computational complexity -- An application is presented in Integration of meshes originated in range images of an art piece -- Such an application reaches the point of complete reconstruction of a unified mes
