Ibero-American Research on Local Development. An Analysis of Its Evolution and New Trends

Local development is a subject that arouses significant interest in the international scientific community in general, and in the Ibero-American one, in particular. The process of globalization has transformed the management of local development, altering the role that is played by local and regional entities, and it is the object of an important follow-up and analysis by academia. This research uses a bibliometric methodology and a fractional counting method, reviewing the 738 articles from the Scopus database in order to understand the state of Ibero-American research on local development, and analyze the scientific literature on the topic. The results show a significant increase in the number of publications in the 21st century, with Spain and Brazil leading the way. In addition, this research provides interesting results regarding the most influential authors on this topic, the most relevant journals, and the most important institutions and funding organizations. There are several areas of knowledge involved since local development is a transversal field, such as Social Science, environment, business, economics, and agriculture. A deep analysis of authors’ keywords identified new trends, linking local development with tourism, education, geotourism, climate change, local sustainable development, social innovation, and creativity, which provides academia with potential new lines of research

Auxiliary Companies of the Horticultural Sector as a Competitiveness Element: The Case of Almeria (Spain)

The horticultural model of Almeria (Spain) based on the operation of greenhouses is an international reference and has been considered as an economic miracle. Alongside this agricultural development has been the deployment of the diverse productive activity of auxiliary companies. The objective of this article is to understand how these companies operate and analyze their factors of competitiveness, competing needs, and future competitive improvements, taking as reference four of the most important subsectors (machinery, greenhouse infrastructure, plastics, and seeds). The Delphi method was used and through a panel of experts the conditioning factors of each of the variables to be analyzed (factors, needs, and competitiveness improvements) was chosen. Of the 120 companies that were sent questionnaires, 72 participated. The sectors that make up the auxiliary companies are heterogeneous and therefore the results obtained have differed among them. The synergies between the greenhouse crops and the auxiliary companies are an example of diversification of productive activity that can be extrapolated to other production areas worldwide. The future of the auxiliary companies is linked to that of the intensive agriculture and the key variables must be underscored by competitiveness and sustainability

La incorporación de las líneas móviles al marco muestral de las encuestas telefónicas: Pertinencia, métodos y resultados

En una parte creciente de los hogares españoles (entre el 20% y el 25% según la fuente consultada), el teléfono móvil ha reemplazado al fijo como la herramienta principal de comunicación a distancia. Las personas que residen en estos hogares presentan un perfil específico que les diferencia de aquellos que disponen de ambas tecnologías, y, en mayor medida, de quienes sólo tienen teléfono fijo. La consecuencia principal de este proceso para la investigación mediante encuestas telefónicas es que, si bien la cobertura de la telefonía es prácticamente universal, cada día son más los hogares excluidos del marco muestral de las encuestas telefónicas tradicionales. En los últimos años se ha generado un cuerpo creciente de literatura en torno a este problema que advierte de la necesidad de incorporar las líneas móviles en las encuestas telefónicas. Desde 2007, hemos llevado a cabo seis encuestas, de ámbito nacional y regional, basadas en el uso de marcos muestrales duales de líneas fijas y móviles. El objetivo del artículo es contribuir al debate sobre las soluciones al reto que plantea la población que sólo es accesible a través del móvil. Para ello, expondremos los procedimientos técnicos y metodológicos que hemos aplicado para realizar estas encuestas. Asimismo, basándonos en los resultados obtenidos, mostraremos que la incorporación de las líneas móviles tiene efectos positivos sobre los indicadores de calidad de las encuestas y los datos recogidos en ellas.Peer Reviewe

Las revistas científico-técnicas españolas de ciencias de la actividad física y el deporte: adecuación a las normas ISO y grado de normalización

The objective of this paper is to know the normalization grade and adjustment of Spanish scientific and technical journals of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences to various key epigraphs of the ISO 8-1977 and ISO 215-1986 norms. Also two indexes are made to calculate the General Normalization Grade (GGN) and the Fundamental Normalization Grade (GFN) of the journals. Results show that journals adjustment to ISO 8-1977 is equivalent to the journals of other Spanish fields as Economy and Technology, while it is less adjusted in relation to ISO 215- 1986. Most of the journals show an inferior GFN respective to its GGN. A considerable range of improvement in the journals studied, especially in the fundamental aspects of the ISO 215-1986 norm and some of the ISO 8-1977 norm, is the main conclusion of the study

Las revistas científico-técnicas españolas de las ciencias de la actividad física y el deporte: inventario y análisis de la calidad de contenido y difusión

En este artículo se presenta el primer inventario de publicaciones periódicas españolas de carácter científico-técnico del campo de las Ciencias de la Actividad Física y el Deporte. Se explica el proceso metodológico seguido para su elaboración y se comenta la problemática de algunas decisiones del grupo de investigación. También se analiza información básica y varios indicadores elementales de la calidad de contenido y difusión de dichas publicaciones periódicas que permite ofrecer un primer acercamiento a la situación en que se encuentran los principales órganos de difusión del mencionado campo.The first inventory of Spanish scientific journals of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences is developed in this article. Methodological process of inventory development is described and problems related to research group decisions are commented. Basic information and dissemination and content quality indicators of these journals are also analysed. Uso de blogs y evaluación continua del aprendizaje del alumnado universitario

Se presenta una experiencia de innovación educativa consistente en la evaluación continua del aprendizaje mediante el uso de blogs. Se desarrolló durante el curso 2010-2011, en un grupo de cinco asignaturas de las Universidades de Valencia y Castilla La Mancha. Las diversas formas de evaluación del aprendizaje que se implementaron, se concretan en tres tipos de usos participativos de los blogs: a) a través de los comentarios; b) de la elaboración de posts; o, c) como administradores. La experiencia llevada a cabo muestra que los blogs pueden ser un valioso instrumento para promover el trabajo autónomo de los estudiantes y contribuir a la actualización de las formas de evaluación tradicionales
