On Partial Opimality by Auxiliary Submodular Problems

In this work, we prove several relations between three different energy minimization techniques. A recently proposed methods for determining a provably optimal partial assignment of variables by Ivan Kovtun (IK), the linear programming relaxation approach (LP) and the popular expansion move algorithm by Yuri Boykov. We propose a novel sufficient condition of optimal partial assignment, which is based on LP relaxation and called LP-autarky. We show that methods of Kovtun, which build auxiliary submodular problems, fulfill this sufficient condition. The following link is thus established: LP relaxation cannot be tightened by IK. For non-submodular problems this is a non-trivial result. In the case of two labels, LP relaxation provides optimal partial assignment, known as persistency, which, as we show, dominates IK. Relating IK with expansion move, we show that the set of fixed points of expansion move with any "truncation" rule for the initial problem and the problem restricted by one-vs-all method of IK would coincide -- i.e. expansion move cannot be improved by this method. Parallel integral projection transform for straight electrode localization in 3-D ultrasound images

In surgical practice, small metallic instruments are frequently used to perform various tasks inside the human body. We address the problem of their accurate localization in the tissue. Recent experiments using medical ultrasound have shown that this modality is suitable for real-time visualization of anatomical structures as well as the position of surgical instruments. We propose an image- processing algorithm that permits automatic estimation of the position of a line-segment-shaped object. This method was applied to the localization of a thin metallic electrode in biological tissue. We show that the electrode axis can be found through maximizing the parallel integral projection transform that is a form of the Radon transform. To accelerate this step, hierarchical mesh-grid algorithm is implemented. Once the axis position is known, localization of the electrode tip is performed. The method was tested on simulated images, on ultrasound images of a tissue mimicking phantom containing a metallic electrode, and on real ultrasound images from breast biopsy. The results indicate that the algorithm is robust with respect to variations in electrode position and speckle noise. towards intelligent autonomous sorting of unclassified nuclear wastes

Sorting of old and mixed nuclear waste is an essential process in nuclear decommissioning operations. The main bottleneck is manual picking and separation of the materials using remotely operated arms, which is slow and error prone especially with small items. Automation of the process is therefore desirable. In the framework of the newly funded European project ECHORD++, experiment RadioRoSo, a pilot robotic cell is being developed and validated against industrial requirements on a range of sorting tasks. The role of cytochromes P450 and aldo-keto reductases in prognosis of breast carcinoma patients

Metabolism of anticancer drugs affects their antitumor effects. This study has investigated the associations of gene expression of enzymes metabolizing anticancer drugs with therapy response and survival of breast carcinoma patients.Gene expression of 13 aldo-keto reductases (AKRs), carbonyl reductase 1, and 10 cytochromes P450 (CYPs) was assessed using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction in tumors and paired adjacent nonneoplastic tissues from 68 posttreatment breast carcinoma patients. Eleven candidate genes were then evaluated in an independent series of 50 pretreatment patients. Protein expression of the most significant genes was confirmed by immunoblotting.AKR1A1 was significantly overexpressed and AKR1C1-4, KCNAB1, CYP2C19, CYP3A4, and CYP3A5 downregulated in tumors compared with control nonneoplastic tissues after correction for multiple testing. Significant association of CYP2B6 transcript levels in tumors with expression of hormonal receptors was found in the posttreatment set and replicated in the pretreatment set of patients. Significantly higher intratumoral levels of AKR1C1, AKR1C2, or CYP2W1 were found in responders to neoadjuvant chemotherapy compared with nonresponders. Patients with high AKR7A3 or CYP2B6 levels in the pretreatment set had significantly longer disease-free survival than patients with low levels. Protein products of AKR1C1, AKR1C2, AKR7A3, CYP3A4, and carbonyl reductase (CBR1) were found in tumors and those of AKR1C1, AKR7A3, and CBR1 correlated with their transcript levels. Small interfering RNA-directed knockdown of AKR1C2 or vector-mediated upregulation of CYP3A4 in MDA-MB-231 model cell line had no effect on cell proliferation after paclitaxel treatment in vitro.Prognostic and predictive roles of drug-metabolizing enzymes strikingly differ between posttreatment and pretreatment breast carcinoma patients. Competence and importance of the Supervisory Board in municipal business corporations

This bachelor's thesis deals with the subject of how the Supervisory Board in municipal business corporations, in the region of Vysocina and Jihocesky region, works. The aim of this thesis is to find out how those Supervisory Boards are affected by the local politics, what are their competencies and how they are remunerated. What is the current importance of the Supervisory Board in municipal business corporations. The theoretical part summarizes the basics of models and theories of corporate governance, control mechanisms and the theoretical working of a Supervisory Board. The practical part is focused on the findings of current situation in the Supervisory Board in municipal business corporations by using a request for information under the law nr. 106/1999 Sb. All questions require an open answer. Based on the obtained data, proposals are given in the conclusion which should improve the current situation.Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na to, jak v praxi fungují dozorčí rady u komunálních společností v Kraji Vysočina a Jihočeském kraji. Cílem je zjistit, jak jsou tyto dozorčí rady ovlivňovány komunální politikou, jaké mají kompetence, jak jsou odměňovány. Jaký je současný význam dozorčích rad u komunálních společností. Předkládaná diplomová práce popisuje měření spokojenosti zákazníků u společnosti Galileo Corporation s.r.o., která působí v oblasti tvorby webových stránek zaměřených na segment obcí, měst, škol a jiných příspěvkových organizací. Cílem této práce je změřit a vyhodnotit spokojenost zákazníků společnosti Galileo Corporation s.r.o. Teoretická část práce je věnována problematice zákazníka, spokojenosti i měření spokojenosti zákazníků. Praktická část práce popisuje produktové portfolio společnosti Galileo Corporation s.r.o. i zákazníky této společnosti. Dále je vymezeno vlastního výzkumné šetření s definováním problému, stanovením výzkumných otázek i hypotéz. Sestaven je plán výzkumu, dotazník i popis průběhu získávání dat. Získaná data jsou analyzována statistickými metodami a hodnocena metodou satisfakčních pyramid, modelem důležitost-spokojenost i indexem spokojenosti zákazníků. Závěrem jsou navržena opatření pro identifikované problémy.ObhájenoThis thesis describes the measurement of customer's satisfaction and also analyses satisfaction of customers of company Galileo Corporation Ltd., which is active in a field of website creation that is specialized on the segment of villages, towns, schools and other contribution-based organization. The main aim of this thesis is to measure and evaluate the customer satisfaction of Galileo Corporation Ltd. The theoretical part of this thesis is focused on the theory of customer, satisfaction, and measurement of customer satisfaction. The practical part describes the product portfolio of the company Galileo Corporation Ltd. and also the customers of this company. Then it's projected my own research. It contains the definition of the problem and the determination of the hypothesis. Design of research, questionnaire and description of getting data are included. Acquired data are analysed by statistic method and evaluated by the method of the customer satisfaction pyramid, the importance-satisfaction analysis and also by the Customer Satisfaction Index. Measures for identified problems are suggested in the conclusion
