Identification of helpful and not helpful online reviews within an eWOM community using text-mining techniques
Resumen de la comunicación[EN] Consumers represent today a significant source of information to learn about
products and services quality thanks to the proliferation of user-generated
content in the form of online reviews. It is thus of paramount to understand
what makes online reviews helpful to consumers as this evaluation might
affect their purchase decisions. In this regard, this research has applied textmining
techniques by extracting the characteristics from online reviews' texts
of an eWOM community, and further utilized these characteristics to train a
logistic classifier using three classes: helpful, neutral and not helpful. The
aim is identifying which unique attributes determine whether an online
review is helpful or not. Findings reveal that there are much more unique
attributes classified as helpful than attributes classified as not helpful.
Additionally, the unique attributes associated to helpful reviews exhibit more
objective appraisal while those associated to not helpful reviews show more
subjective appraisal. The proposed methodology can be used to predict the
helpfulness of posted reviews and to obtain their unique attributes.Olmedilla, M.; Martinez-Torres, R.; Toral, SL. (2018). Identification of Influencers in eWord-of-Mouth communities using their Online Participation Features
[EN] The identification of influencers in any type of online social network is of
paramount importance, as they can significantly affect consumers’
purchasing decisions. This paper proposes the utilization of a self-designed
web scraper to extract meaningful information for the identification of
influencers and the analysis of how this new set of variables can be used to
predict them. The experimental results from the Ciao UK website will be used
to illustrate the proposed approach and to provide new insights in the
identification of influencers. Obtained results show the importance of the
trust network, but considering the intensity and the quality of both trustors
and trustees.Olmedilla, M.; Arenas-Márquez, FJ.; Martinez-Torres, MR.; Toral, SL. (2016). Identification of Influencers in eWord-of-Mouth communities using their Online Participation Features.
Girardot - Cundinamarca, is a municipality where there is a large population, which to date has not been given a good planning management to construction and demolition waste to mitigate visual and space pollution; which represents an accumulation of these, because according to research carried out in this city there is no legal deposit to leave the rubble (RCD) which generates the inappropriate use and as a consequence sites that could be built in the future are shown to be unstable, For this type of flaws in the city the projects of houses (VIS) have as a result a cracking over time since they are built in fillers; it should be noted that the construction of housing projects is in its furor in the town is for this reason, that a sustainable solution is wanted with this material; on the one hand in this city is also seen the need to model housing of social interest with "Design features for lowering temperature gradients through extensive green cover" since surveys show that climate is a major component of people’s quality of life; This report concludes the degree work and serves as input to the research process at the field work stage.
The objective of the project is to describe the impact that the climate has against the buildings in the different strata of the city; making the variations from a conventional roof to an extensive green developing two prototypes, Each one with the different characteristics that delimit them each cover already mentioned; being observed in light of an analysis that allows to link theoretically and methodologically the relationship between the care of the environment, construction of houses and municipal welfare.
Finally, the development of the project comprises three parts: 1) preparation of the research project, 2) bibliographic and analytical inquiry, and 3) field work, questionnaire statistics and results
The violence generated by the armed conflict in Colombia is represented in people from the position of victim both by the state, and by groups outside the law, in some cases for people there is no other way than to venture into scenarios violence or related to it, since their life is in danger if they do not accept the services requested by the perpetrators.
Through the following work we seek to listen and relive the stories of the war, these stories and the experiences told from the photo voice, help us not to forget the experiences of people, the consequences that the war leaves in them and the states of resilience they must take to overcome traumatic episodes in their life; we find stories of victims, both in scenarios where they are participants in groups outside the law, because job opportunities for them are only immersed in these events, and on the other hand, there are stories of entire communities being whipped by the same state, blaming them for having relationships and ties with armed groups, where the people who make up these communities report not being part of said groups or collaborating with them, but on the contrary they were hard-working people who built their territory and community with their nails, Without the support of the state or government entities, they do not have access roads or guarantees to work in the field, so they went to plant coca as sustenance for their families, this caused the military forces to harass the town, evict them and now this very people that were previously forgotten by the government are constantly being militarized, which generated that the people The members of the community were now displaced people, who must face the psychosocial problems that this problem contracts in people's lives, uncertainty, member, poverty are some feelings that frequent the people who are victims of these event
Insulin regulates neurovascular coupling through astrocytes
Mice with insulin receptor (IR)-deficient astrocytes (GFAP-IR knockout [KO] mice) show blunted responses to insulin and reduced brain glucose uptake, whereas IRdeficient astrocytes show disturbed mitochondrial responses to glucose. While exploring the functional impact of disturbed mitochondrial function in astrocytes, we observed that GFAP-IR KO mice show uncoupling of brain blood flow with glucose uptake. Since IR-deficient astrocytes show higher levels of reactive oxidant species (ROS), this leads to stimulation of hypoxia-inducible factor-1¿ and, consequently, of the vascular endothelial growth factor angiogenic pathway. Indeed, GFAP-IR KO mice show disturbed brain vascularity and blood flow that is normalized by treatment with the antioxidant N-acetylcysteine (NAC). NAC ameliorated high ROS levels, normalized angiogenic signaling and mitochondrial function in IR-deficient astrocytes, and normalized neurovascular coupling in GFAP-IR KO mice. Our results indicate that by modulating glucose uptake and angiogenesis, insulin receptors in astrocytes participate in neurovascular coupling. We are thankful to M.Garcia and R. Phase I, multicenter, open-label study of intravenous VCN-01 oncolytic adenovirus with or without nab-paclitaxel plus gemcitabine in patients with advanced solid tumors
Background VCN-01 is an oncolytic adenovirus (Ad5 based) designed to replicate in cancer cells with dysfunctional RB1 pathway, express hyaluronidase to enhance virus intratumoral spread and facilitate chemotherapy and immune cells extravasation into the tumor. This phase I clinical trial was aimed to find the maximum tolerated dose/recommended phase II dose (RP2D) and dose-limiting toxicity (DLT) of the intravenous delivery of the replication-competent VCN-01 adenovirus in patients with advanced cancer. Methods Part I: patients with advanced refractory solid tumors received one single dose of VCN-01. Parts II and III: patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma received VCN-01 (only in cycle 1) and nab-paclitaxel plus gemcitabine (VCN-concurrent on day 1 in Part II, and 7days before chemotherapy in Part III). Patients were required to have anti-Ad5 neutralizing antibody (NAbs) titers lower than 1/350 dilution. Pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic analyses were performed. Results 26% of the patients initially screened were excluded based on high NAbs levels. Sixteen and 12 patients were enrolled in Part I and II, respectively: RP2D were 1 x10(13) viral particles (vp)/patient (Part I), and 3.3x10(12) vp/patient (Part II). Fourteen patients were included in Part Ill: there were no DLTs and the RP2D was 1 x10(13) vp/patient. Observed DLTs were grade 4 aspartate aminotransferase increase in one patient (Part I, 1x10(13) vp), grade 4 febrile neutropenia in one patient and grade 5 thrombocytopenia plus enterocolitis in another patient (Part II, 1 x10(13) vp). In patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma overall response rate were 50% (Part II) and 50% (Part III). VCN-01 viral genomes were detected in tumor tissue in five out of six biopsies (day 8). A second viral plasmatic peak and increased hyaluronidase serum levels suggested replication after intravenous injection in all patients. Increased levels of immune biomarkers (interferon- r,soluble lymphocyte activation ne-3, interleukin (IL)-6, IL-10) were found after VCN-01 administration. Conclusions Treatment with VCN-01 is feasible and has an acceptable safety. Encouraging biological and clinical activity was observed when administered in combination with nab-paditaxel plus gemcitabine to patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma

Infection and coinfection by human papillomavirus, Epstein–Barr virus and Merkel cell polyomavirus in patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx: a retrospective study
Background Human papillomavirus (HPV) is recognized as an important risk factor for laryngeal carcinogenesis. Although HPV-16 and 18 have been strongly implicated, the presence of other high-risk HPV (HR-HPV) genotypes or the coinfection with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) or Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPV) may increase the risk, but their etiological association has not been definitively established. Methods We characterized the genotype-specific HPV and the frequency of EBV and MCPV infections through the detection of their DNA in 195 laryngeal specimens of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) histologically confirmed. Results HPV DNA was detected in 93 (47.7%) specimens. HPV-11 was the most frequent with 68 cases (73.1%), and HPV-52 was the most frequently HR-HPV found with 51 cases, which corresponds to 54.8% of all HPV-positive specimens. EBV DNA was detected in 54 (27.7%) tumor tissue specimens of which 25 (46.3%) were in coinfection with HPV. MCPV DNA was detected only in 11 (5.6%) cases of which 5 (45.4%) were in coinfection with an HR-HPV. No association between the presence of DNA of the three examined viruses and the patient smoking habits, alcohol consumption, age, the keratinization status, differentiation grade, or localization of the tumor in the larynx were found. Discussion HPV-52 was the most prevalent HR-HPV, which may suggest that this and other genotypes in addition to HPV-16 and 18 could be considered for prophylaxis. However, further studies including non-cancer larynx cases and the evaluation of other molecular markers and viral co-infection mechanisms are needed to determine the role of the different HR-HPV genotypes, EBV, and MCPV in the etiology of SCC of the larynx
