Film-induced tourism in the UK: the role of British Film Institute on promoting the image of the country

    Get PDF
Film-induced tourism-also referred to as Film Tourism- is a recent growing phenomenon whose main purpose is to explore the potential tourist’s motivations when planning their upcoming visit to a destination. Furthermore, this phenomenon gives power to the future filming locations in terms of creating new film heritage museums, film tours, developing new destination marketing and so on. Thus, we will study the brand new type of tourist: ‘Core Screen Tourist’. Core screen tourists are those who would not travel to a destination where a film has been shot unless they have seen it on screen previously. Films provide a powerful way to shape people's perceptions of the place, creating new and strengthening old ones. Gaining the power to increase international tourism and the entertainment industry, the development of the film is seen as a growing phenomenon, which must be taken into account for each tourism promotion strategy.Universidad de Sevilla. Collective and Single-particle Motion in Beyond Mean Field Approaches

We present a novel nuclear energy density functional method to calculate spectroscopic properties of atomic nuclei. Intrinsic nuclear quadrupole deformations and rotational frequencies are considered simultaneously as the degrees of freedom within a symmetry conserving configuration mixing framework. The present method allows the study of nuclear states with collective and single-particle character. We calculate the fascinating structure of the semi-magic 44S nucleus as a first application of the method, obtaining an excellent quantitative agreement both with the available experimental data and with state-of-the-art shell model calculations.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, accepted for publication in Phys. Time-dependent attractors for non-autonomous nonlocal reaction-diffusion equations

    Get PDF
In this paper, the existence and uniqueness of weak and strong solutions for a non-autonomous nonlocal reaction-diffusion equation is proved. Next, the existence of minimal pullback attractors in the L2 -norm in the frameworks of universes of fixed bounded sets and those given by a tempered growth condition, and some relationships between them are established. Finally, we prove the existence of minimal pullback attractors in the H1-norm and study relationships among these new families and those given previously in the L2 - context. The results are also new in the autonomous framework in order to ensure the existence of global compact attractors, as a particular case.Ministerio de Economía y CompetitividadFondo Europeo de Desarrollo RegionalJunta de Andalucí

In this paper, the existence of regular pullback attractors as well as their upper semicontinuous behaviour in H1-norm are analysed for a parameterized family of non-autonomous nonlocal reaction-diffusion equations without uniqueness, improving previous results [Nonlinear Dyn. 84 (2016), 35–50].Ministerio de Economía y CompetitividadFondo Europeo de Desarrollo RegionalJunta de Andalucí

    ¿Decidimos racionalmente?

Animal welfare: children’s plural discourses in contexts of early childhood education

    Get PDF
The present work is focused on the presentation of some results of a project developed about the social representations of children on animal welfare and animal rights (e.g., cultural demonstrations with animals, exhibition of animals in captivity, production and consumption of products of animal origin, treatment of pets and farm animals). They are preliminary results within the scope of a broader project "ANIMALIS - Animal welfare in pre-service kindergarten and primary school teachers' education. Using the Sociology of Childhood, Childhood Pedagogy, Environmental Education and Human-animal Studies, the present work aims to analyse children´s discourses associated with factors which can limit animal welfare and their rights and also to identify possibilities of educational intervention compatible with the inclusion of animals and their rights in pedagogical practices. These discourses started from the analysis and discussion of situations involving different animal uses present in the book of Patrick George “Animal Rescue” published by 2015. The methodological approach is based on a qualitative matrix with the adoption of data collection and analysis methodologies congruent with the object under study and with the epistemological assumptions of the sociological research with children: ethnographic observation, image collection, analysis of drawings, documentary analysis and focused discussion groups (book as an inducer of the discussion). The selection obeyed the criteria of identification of specificity, interest and feasibility of the research. The participants were four groups of children, between 2 and 5 years old, from three Kindergarten rooms (25 children each room) and one nursery room (12 children) of a private socio-educational organization in the city of Lisbon. The situations designed around animals, promoted by four educators with extensive professional experience, allowed to identify certain practices developed with animals (i) as problematic for children (e.g. abandonment and neglect of animals, sale of animals in stores, use of animal fur to make clothing and footwear) and (ii) as necessary (e.g., the need to invest more in promoting animal and nature rights, to reflect on the role of pets in their lives, and to develop projects to learn more about particular animals or situations involving them). The conflict between individual and group visions is a theme to be highlighted from the analysis of data as well as the fact that children in the nursery room reveal more blurred boundaries between the human and non-human worlds.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Does 6-minutes walk test predict functional capacity in elderly people?

    Get PDF
Portugal has an accentuated aging tendency, presenting an elderly population (individuals with more than 65 years old) of 19.2%. The average life expectancy is 79.2 years. Thus, it’s important to maintain autonomy and independency as long as possible. Functional ability concept rises from the need to evaluate the capacity to conduct daily activities in an independent way. It can be estimated with the 6-minute walk test (6MWT) and other validated test. This test is simple, reliable, valid and consists in a daily activity (walk). The goals of this study was to verify associations between functional capacity measured with two different instruments (6MWT and Composite Physical Function (CPF) scale) and between those results and characterization variables

Long-time behavior of a non-autonomous parabolic equation with nonlocal diffusion and sublinear terms

    Get PDF
This paper is devoted to study the asymptotic behavior of a time-dependent parabolic equation with nonlocal diffusion and nonlinear terms with sublinear growth. Namely, we extend some previous results from the literature, obtaining existence, uniqueness, and continuity results, analyzing the stationary problem and decay of the solutions of the evolutionary problem, and finally, under more general assumptions, ensuring the existence of pullback attractors for the associated dynamical system in both L2L2 and H1H1 norms. Relationships among these objects are established using regularizing properties of the equation

Robustness of nonautonomous attractors for a family of nonlocal reaction–diffusion equations without uniqueness

    Get PDF
In this paper, we consider a non-autonomous nonlocal reactiondiffusion equation with a small perturbation in the nonlocal diffusion term and the non-autonomous force. Under the assumptions imposed on the viscosity function, the uniqueness of weak solutions cannot be guaranteed. In this multi-valued framework, the existence of weak solutions and minimal pullback attractors in the L2-norm are analysed. In addition, some relationships between the attractors of the universe of fixed bounded sets and those associated to a universe given by a tempered condition are established. Finally, the upper semicontinuity property of pullback attractors w.r.t. the parameter is proved. Indeed, under suitable assumptions, we prove that the family of pullback attractors converges to the corresponding global compact attractor associated to the autonomous nonlocal limit problem when the parameter goes to zero.Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER)Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad (España)Junta de Andalucí
