    The objectives of this study include: to find out whether Tangram Media Against Children’s Cognitive Ability to Recognize Geometry Shapes. The research method that researchers use is a quantitative method. This research is included in the regression research. From the results of the research conducted, the following results were obtained: Tangram media had an effect on the ability to recognize geometric shapes. Which is marked by the increase in the result of childrens’s learning tests in stage 2, namely at the post test stage, as well as the results obtained from the coefficient table which shows Y = 57,725 + 1,121. A cobstant of 57,725 states that if there is not tangram media the ability to recognize children’s geometric shapes of 57,725 states that if there is no tagram media has a positive positive effect on the ability to recognize geometric shapes,meaning that the better the learning media, the greater or better the ability to recognize geometric shapes. The independent variable (Vx) has an effect of 0.585 or 58.5 % on the dependent variable (Vy) and the rest is influenced by other variables not discussed in this study. What can be interpreted also that the tangram media has an effect of 0.585 or 58.5% on the ability to recognize geometric shapes. &nbsp

    Is low antiepileptic drug dose effective in long-term seizure-free patients?

    Objective: To investigate the value of leaving seizure-free patients on low-dose medication. Method: This was an exploratory prospective randomized study conducted at our University Hospital. We evaluated the frequency of seizure recurrence and its risk factors following complete or partial antiepileptic drug (AED) withdrawal in seizure free patients for at least two years with focal, secondarily generalized and undetermined generalized epilepsies. For this reason, patients were divided into two groups: Group 1 (complete AED withdrawal), and Group 2 (partial AED withdrawal). Partial AED withdrawal was established as a reduction of 50% of the initial dose. Medication was tapered off slowly on both groups. Follow-up period was 24 months. Results: Ninety-four patients were followed up: 45 were assigned to complete (Group 1) AED withdrawal and 49 to partial (Group 2) AED withdrawal. Seizure recurrence frequency after two years follow-up were 34.04% in group 1 and 32.69% in Group 2. Survival analysis showed that the probability of remaining seizure free at 6, 12, 18 and 24 months after randomization did not differ between the two groups (p = 0.8). Group 1: 0.89, 0.80, 0.71 and 0.69; group 2: 0.86, 0.82, 0.75 and 0.71. The analysis of risk factors for seizure recurrence showed that more than 10 seizures prior to seizure control was a significant predictive factor for recurrence after AED withdrawal (hazard ratio = 2.73). Conclusion: Leaving seizure free patients on low AED dose did not reduce the risk for seizure recurrence. That is, once the decision of AED withdrawal has been established, it should be complete.613A56657

    Anisotropic fragmentation in low-energy dissociative recombination

    On a dense energy grid reaching up to 75 meV electron collision energy the fragmentation angle and the kinetic energy release of neutral dissociative recombination fragments have been studied in a twin merged beam experiment. The anisotropy described by Legendre polynomials and the extracted rotational state contributions were found to vary on a likewise narrow energy scale as the rotationally averaged rate coefficient. For the first time angular dependences higher than 2nd^{nd} order could be deduced.     Morphometric characterization of parasite Varroa sp. of bee Apis Mellifera L. in Benin

    Open Access JournalVarroa sp. is one of the most important pests of world of bees A. mellifera Linnaeus (Hymenoptera: Apidae). The aim of this study is to analyze the morphological variability of Varroa so as to identify the different morphotypes of V. destructor. The study was conducted in 24 localities and 24 municipalities located in three regions (North-East, North-West and the Centre) of Benin. One to two hives were randomly selected per locality for collecting samples. In total 46 Varroa were examined in this study. Analysis of variance components was used to determine the share of the variability of morphological characteristics of V. destructor based on localities and climatic zones. Numerical classification was performed to group the populations of V. destructor based on morphological descriptors. The results show that the variability of morphological descriptors of V. destructor is usually larger at the community level than in climatic zones. In total four morphotypes of V. destructor are distinguished in Benin through the 4 variables used in the study

    Assignment of resonances in dissociative recombination of HD+ ions: high-resolution measurements compared with accurate computations

    The collision-energy resolved rate coefficient for dissociative recombination of HD+ ions in the vibrational ground state is measured using the photocathode electron target at the heavy-ion storage ring TSR. Rydberg resonances associated with ro-vibrational excitation of the HD+ core are scanned as a function of the electron collision energy with an instrumental broadening below 1 meV in the low-energy limit. The measurement is compared to calculations using multichannel quantum defect theory, accounting for rotational structure and interactions and considering the six lowest rotational energy levels as initial ionic states. Using thermal equilibrium level populations at 300 K to approximate the experimental conditions, close correspondence between calculated and measured structures is found up to the first vibrational excitation threshold of the cations near 0.24 eV. Detailed assignments, including naturally broadened and overlapping Rydberg resonances, are performed for all structures up to 0.024 eV. Resonances from purely rotational excitation of the ion core are found to have similar strengths as those involving vibrational excitation. A dominant low-energy resonance is assigned to contributions from excited rotational states only. The results indicate strong modifications in the energy dependence of the dissociative recombination rate coefficient through the rotational excitation of the parent ions, and underline the need for studies with rotationally cold species to obtain results reflecting low-temperature ionized media.Comment: 15 pages, 10 figures.     High dose chemotherapy and autologous stem cell transplantation in patients with peripheral T-cell lymphoma not achieving complete response after induction chemotherapy. The GEL-TAMO experience

    Background and objectives: patients with aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHL) who do not obtain a complete response (CR) after induction chemotherapy have a poor prognosis. However, provided they are sensitive to the first regimen of chemotherapy, 25-40% of them with a B-cell phenotype may achieve long-term survival when treated with high dose chemotherapy and autologous stem cell transplantation (HDC/ASCT). The aim of this study was to analyze the efficacy of this therapy in the corresponding patients with peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL). Design and methods: we retrospectively evaluated the efficacy of ASCT in 35 patients with PTCL from the GEL-TAMO registry, who did not achieve a CR to standard induction chemotherapy regimens for aggressive NHL. Thirty-one patients underwent transplantation after achieving a partial response (PR) and 4 patients were non-responders. Results: following HDC/ASCT, 23 (66%) of the patients achieved a CR, 4 (11%) a PR and in 7 (20%) cases the transplant failed. One patient was not evaluated because of early toxic death. With a median follow-up of the survivors of 37.5 months, 18 patients (51%) are alive and 15 patients (43%) are free of disease. Transplant-related mortality rate at 100 days was 11% and at 5 years the probabilities of survival, freedom from progression and disease-free survival for complete responders were 37%, 36% and 55% respectively. Pre-transplant lactate-dehydrogenase level, age-adjusted International Prognostic Index (aa-IPI) and tumor score correlated with survival. Interpretation and conclusions: one third of the patients with PTCL who fail to achieve CR to the first chemotherapeutic regimen can be rescued with HDC/ASCT. Pre-transplant values of IPI and tumor score risk systems for aggressive lymphomas were useful to predict subsequent survival
