    Get PDF
The purpose of this recital is to demonstrate a practical competency in playing techniques on the rhythm section instruments piano, bass, and drum set in addition to presenting arrangements and compositions by the performer. The study of rhythm section instruments provides the solid understanding of jazz rhythm and harmony necessary for any jazz educator endeavoring to provide adequate instruction for his or her students. The study of jazz arranging and composition also aids in instructing students of jazz at any level of proficiency. Although not a complete representation of the studies required of a student studying jazz pedagogy, this recital will showcase many important elements of the educational experience

A spectroscopic study of intermediates in the condensation of refractory smokes: Matrix isolation experiments SiO

    Get PDF
The infrared and Raman spectra of N2 matrix isolated silicon oxides are investigated. The vibrational frequencies of SiO, Si2O2, and Si3O3 were identified and assigned on the basis of normal coordinate analyses. Heating the solid to 50 K (evaporating the matrix) leaves a residue whose infrared spectrum is identical to that of a smoke condensed at ambient temperatures. Further heating of the sample to 500 K leads to significant changes in the band shapes. Investigations of the infrared spectra at several stages of the diffusion process result in the proposal of a mechanism for the transition from molecular properties to those of the residue (bulk) material, which is characterized as Si2O3

Die rechtliche Stellung minderjähriger Patienten im Wandel der Zeit unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Einwilligung in medizinische Behandlungen (20./21. Jh.)

    Get PDF

Rozbor se týká obsahové i výrazové roviny, čímž zahrnuje: tématiku, syžet, kompozici, obraznost, tropy, a také fonetickou, morfologickou, lexikální, frazeologickou a syntaktickou vrstvu jazyka....This work is an analysis of style in the Russian postmodern novel, executed on the texts of the four key novels from the last decade of the 20th century. They are: Vladimir Sorokin ( ), « » Victor Pelevin ( ), « » Tatiana Tolstaja ( ), «» Ludmila Petrushevskaja ( ), « » The methodological base chosen is the one that serves in functional stylistics, complimented by the theory of 'constructively styling vectors' by V.G. Kostomarov. The aim of this work is a detailed description of specific stylistical tendencies that are characteristic to the text of a post modern novel. The analysis situates within with basic principles of postmodern text (it begins with non-constitutive and ends with constitutive principles). All four chapters in the first part present in-depth stylistical analysis of the text of one of the novels. This analysis is based on the terms of the mentioned above non-constitutive principles. (These principles are: deconstruction, simulacrum, rhizome, the death of the author). Meticulous realization of every principle is highlighted throughout the texts. There are also further examples of functional comparison of the same principle used in the other texts. Analysis is made of the content as well as of the expression of that content, using themes, plot, composition, build up of images and...Department of South Slavonic and Balkan StudiesKatedra jihoslovanských a balkanistických studiíFilozofická fakultaFaculty of Art

Risk management in the venture capital industry: Managing risk in portfolio companies

    Get PDF
Managing risk is one of the main activities of venture capital companies. Despite the fact that this topic is of high practical relevance, only little research was published on risk management performed by venture capital companies in their ventures. Hence, we conducted a structured literature review which was the basis for developing five hypotheses concerning measures to decrease failure risk in venture capital-backed ventures. We tested these hypotheses with an empirical data set of 93 venture capital-backed ventures in Germany using original deal data from nine different venture capital funds using a structural equation model. We showed that the experience and the skills of the corresponding investment manager have a significant negative impact on the failure risk of a venture. Investment manager´s experience and skills were measured by the working and founding experience, the technology expertise and the network size. Hence, the results emphasize the importance of the selection of the investment manager for risk management in venture capital investments

Purpose: The American College of Radiology (ACR) BI-RADS classification is the applicable for breast lesion assessment. BI-RADS categories 4 and 5 need to be followed by biopsy. The aim of our study was to evaluate the tissue biopsy-proven positive predictive value (PPV3) for BI-RADS 4 (and its subcategories) and for BI-RADS 5, and BI-RADS distribution, in comparison to ACR assumptions and literature. Material and methods: We retrospectively analysed biopsies performed in our outpatient clinic in 2017. Our target group of patients consisted of 797 patients at the average age of 52 years. Results: BI-RADS 5 constituted 12% of cases (95 cases), and BI-RADS 4 88% (698 cases). Within BI-RADS 4 subdivisions there were 359 cases in 4a (45.3%), 215 in 4b (27%), and 124 in 4c (15.6%). Overall PPV3 was 34.8%. BI-RADS 5 category PPV3 number was 97.89%. In category BI-RADS 4 the values of PPV3 equalled 26.22% without subdivision and 3.6%, 27.9%, and 88.7% for subcategories BI-RADS 4a, 4b, and 4c, respectively. Conclusions: BI-RADS categorisation by radiologists in the studied group matches the literature data according to achieved PPV and BI-RADS percentage distribution. The stratification of cancer risk among categories was proven with Mann-Whitney U test p value < 0.005. There was a statistically important unaccepted difference of PPV3 between core biopsy and vacuum-assisted biopsy, which needs further investigation

Is Nordic elder care facing a (new) collaborative turn?

    Get PDF
Nordic countries are known for their service-based welfare states, which include basic health and social care for all older adults who have been formally assessed and found to need additional services. Facing fiscal constraints in the mid-1990s, these countries endeavoured to create more cost-effective care services that incorporated the doctrines of new public management (NPM). Overlapping NPM, steps have been taken to better integrate services and utilise the care capacity of a broader institutional and environmental set of actors. In this study, we draw attention to this call for collaborative and participatory modes of governance beyond NPM. We explore whether and how Nordic eldercare policies fit in to the framework and logic of new public governance (NPG). The data consist of 62 key government documents from five Nordic countries, representing the central features of eldercare policies over the past 10 years. Our content analysis is based on three conceptual lenses associated with NPG: service integration, service co-production and cross-sectoral co-creation. The analysis shows that several policy issues are framed by the logic of NPG in all countries. Further research is needed to assess how these NPG measures are implemented and interacting with institutional arrangements of other public governance paradigms.Peer reviewe
