This study investigated the impact of field trip-based virtual reality learning media on improving elementary school students’ science literacy. The research method used was a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent post-test group design. The research participants were 60 elementary school students in East Jakarta who were divided into two groups, namely the experimental group (Class A) with 30 students and the control group (Class B) with the same number. The instrument used in this study was the multiple-choice test. Data analysis was conducted using an independent sample t-test. The research findings indicated a significant difference between the group that received virtual reality-based learning and the control group. This result illustrates that using virtual reality learning media based on field trips positively influences elementary school students’ science literacy. The implications of this study underscore the importance of utilizing technology in education to stimulate the understanding of scientific concepts and science literacy at the basic education level

Augmented Reality (AR) is a type of learning media that combines virtual and real worlds in real-time. It can make it easier for students to visualize the phenomena. This research aimed to measure flashcard-based AR’s effectiveness based on scientific literature. This research used a quasi-experimental method using a post-test-only control group design, and the participants were 60 college students at Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya. Data in the research were collected through tests to determine students’ scientific literacy skills, including aspects of knowledge and competence in analyzing scientific phenomena, connecting physics concepts to existing phenomena, and interpreting data or scientific evidence and questionnaires. The data were analyzed by calculating the average test score according to scientific literature and the percentage of user satisfaction. Based on the research, using flashcard-based augmented reality could increase the students’ scientific literacy. Keywords: augmented reality; learning media; scientific literac

Indonesia was a country affected by the coronavirus pandemic so to break the chain of transmission, especially in the education field, online learning was carried out. This study aimed to determine the differences between the Whatsapp and Moodle applications used on understanding physics in online learning during the Coronavirus pandemic. The comparative descriptive research method using which the class was devived into two classes (class A used Moodle and class B used Whatsapp) was conducted. The 70 firstly-year students of Primary Education, Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya became research subjects, consisting of 34 students in the A class and 35 students in the B class. The data were obtained from individual tests with 30 multiple-choice questions. From the research results was found that moodle could improve students' understanding of the physics concept of primary education, Universitas PGRI Adi Buana SurabayaIndonesia merupakan negara yang terkena dampak pademik viruscorona sehingga untuk memutuskan rantai penularan khususnya pada bidang pendidikan pembelajaran dilakukan secara online.

The Science Technology Society (STS) is an integrated and holistic approach between science, technology, and societal issues. This study aims to determine teachers’ perceptions of integrating science, technology, and society into learning at elementary schools. This study uses a qualitative approach. The respondents of this study were twelve elementary school teachers in the city of Surabaya. The results of this study indicate that teachers respond positively to the Science Technology Society (STS) because it provides an understanding of the relationship between science and technology and society and trains judgment sensitivity. Keywords: Teacher’s Perception, Science Technology Society (STS), Elementary Schoo

PROBLEMATIC NUMERICAL LITERACY IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS: SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW

    Get PDF
One of the skills that is the main focus in facing the era of society 5.0 is numeracy literacy. Unfortunately, the results of the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) show that the numeracy literacy skills of students in Indonesia are still relatively low in general. To overcome this, educators need to understand the factors and solutions that can affect the low numeracy literacy of students, especially elementary schools. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to collect, summarize and analyze the problematic components of numeracy literacy in elementary schools through the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with the PRISMA approach. The data from this study was retrieved using the Publish or Perish application on the Googlescholar database using the keywords "mathematics problem" AND "elementary school" OR "elementary school", AND "numeracy literacy" OR "numeracy literacy". The results showed several factors that were found to cause low numeracy literacy involving aspects of teaching experience, students' mathematical self-efficacy, availability of teaching materials, student behavior problems, principal support, and minimal school facilities. Solutions to improve numeracy literacy of primary school students include the development of effective teaching methods, further research to improve students' understanding and self-efficacy, support to teachers through the development of learning resources, literacy strengthening strategies at the school level, investment in educational facilities, and the implementation of learning models that suit students' need

Lithium-sulfur battery: the review of cathode composite fabrication method

Nowadays, the energy demands increase along with the enhance lifestyle and the increase of population, so that alternative energy sources are needed to meet the demand. Several renewable energy has been developed, but the low capacity energy storage system makes the energy that has been produced is partially lost. Lithium-sulfur battery is one of a promising energy storage system due to its high energy density, inexpensive material, and abundant in nature. However, the current problem despite the high energy density is the low life cycles due to the dissolution of sulfur into the electrolyte. Research on lithium-sulfur batteries was carried out in 1962 by Hebert et al., but it has some disadvantages, such as a low discharge capacity and short cycle times. Various studies have been developed to solve these problems. In this review, we will discuss the electrochemical process on lithium-sulfur batteries and the method of a lithium-sulfur battery cathode manufacturing to give information to the researcher about the recent development of lithium-sulfur cathode manufacturing. The present review will discuss both physical and chemical manufacturing methods

Preparing HOTS-based teaching materials is a competency that teachers must have. Elementary school teachers are required to have the ability to create teaching materials that encourage students to be motivated in observing everything around them, asking questions, and thinking creatively and critically so that they can explore the competencies of elementary school students. The aim of holding this PPM is so that elementary school teachers in the Gresik area will increase their competence in preparing teaching materials, especially for preparing HOTS-based teaching materials. The method used is descriptive qualitative with instruments in the form of interview sheets, questionnaires, and documentation related to the implementation of community service or PPM. PPM participants consisted of 25 elementary school teachers in the Gresik area. As a result, after the PPM activities were carried out, the competency of elementary school teachers in preparing HOTS-based teaching materials increased. This can be seen from every aspect of making HOTS-based teaching materials that has been fulfilled, this is because the human resources of elementary school teachers in the Gresik area already have a profile that supports their competency abilities
