Easily accessible online streaming media services provide viewers with a grand variety of materials supported with captions and subtitles presenting foreign language learners and teachers with an unlimited number of possibilities to benefit from those authentic materials inside and outside the classroom. Recent SLA studies have shown that the inclusion of TV series into the traditional formal teaching programs can aid learner's listening skills and enlarge vocabulary size. Besides, learners from the studies on extensive TV viewing report to be motivated by this type of input and show shifts in viewing habits outside the classroom which is particularly important in the EFL context where exposure to the English language is very limited as it can satisfy the need for a large amount of L2 input. This paper gathers the major SLA findings on the benefits of audiovisual materials and on-screen texts for foreign language learning.[spa] Ver programas de televisión se ha convertido en parte de nuestra vida diaria. The work discusses the efficiency of different ionospheric scintillation indices. The new index D2fi based on the GNSS carrier phase observable was introduced. We analyze the accuracy of the phase measurements, in particular its dependence on the GNSS equipment thermal noises, multipath and external noises, and presettings of Phase Lock Loop and Code Delay Discriminator. The performance of DROTI, S4, σφ, and D2fi was considered for the case of high-rate data. The “sensitivity” and reliability of each index differs significantly and depends on the time resolution of the carrier phase data. The new index D2fi advantages are that it is easily derived and has a clear dependence on GNSS hardware and software features. D2fi was proven to be a useful tool to detect the small-scale ionospheric disturbances based on high-rate GPS carrier phase measurements

Cell cultures are completely sufficient objects of the investigation, from one hand. From another, they may be units of biotechnological experiments directed to obtaining genetically modified plant forms. Cell cultures ensure to conduct the investigations of physiological and biochemical processes of cellular level. At the same time those events develop in cells that divide and grow actively. Some metabolism parameters are the adequate markers of normal/stress/pathological states of cell population. Cell culture with its dynamics considerably differs from intact plant tissues with their special functions. So, in vitro manipulations need regular control and proper modifications for any plant. Wheat biotechnology in vitro becomes advanced approach last time. Wheat plant tissues as well as wheat cultures there were detected. Two electrophoresis methods (Poperelia and Laemmli) for protein pools analyses were compared. The objects of investigation were different wheat tissues and their cell cultures. There was marked that the optimal test is a marker of functional status of cell culture.

Critical Thinking Technology in the Training of Law Professionals

According to the Federal State Educational Standards of Secondary Vocational Education (FSES SVE), graduates should master general and professional competencies according to the specialty. Students should acquire a certain set of knowledge and skills and gain practical experience in accordance with the Federal State Educational Standard through the study of professional modules. The professional modules are subdivided into interdisciplinary courses. In practice, the challenges in the educational process of secondary vocational education are in the development of general competencies. General competencies include the ability to apply acquired knowledge, skills and practical experience in solving general problems in a wide field of activity. Professional competency is the ability to apply the knowledge, skills and experience gained in solving professional problems in particular activities. The competency-based approach corresponds to the demands of society and employers for specialists capable to apply knowledge in practice, to independently set tasks and solve them in specific situations. Based on the foregoing, the technology for the development of critical thinking is able to satisfy the needs of teachers and students in the conditions of a competency-based approach. The development of thinking skills and abilities of students in the educational process is necessary not only during vocational training or in professional activity, but also in everyday life. This is especially important in the unstable economic and political situation in the Russian Federation and the world at the present time, when it is necessary to quickly, sometimes even radically reorganize their career under the prevailing circumstances. A specific feature of the educational process of secondary vocational education is not only a competency-based approach to learning, but also a modular approach implemented through professional modules. Professional modules and interdisciplinary courses included in them are defined by the FSES SPE, however, in some cases, the variability of the content of the module is allowed, i.e. the educational institution independently decides which interdisciplinary courses to include in the module

Retinal Origin of Electrically Evoked Potentials in Response to Transcorneal Alternating Current Stimulation in the Rat

PURPOSE: Little is known about the physiological mechanisms underlying the reported therapeutic effects of transorbital alternating current stimulation (ACS) in vision restoration, or the origin of the recorded electrically evoked potentials (EEPs) during such stimulation. We examined the issue of EEP origin and electrode configuration for transorbital ACS and characterized the physiological responses to CS in different structures of the visual system. METHODS: We recorded visually evoked potentials (VEPs) and EEPs from the rat retina, visual thalamus, tectum, and visual cortex. The VEPs were evoked by light flashes and EEPs were evoked by electric stimuli delivered by two electrodes placed either together on the same eye or on the eyeball and in the neck. Electrically evoked potentials and VEPs were recorded before and after bilateral intraorbital injections of tetrodotoxin that blocked retinal ganglion cell activity. RESULTS: Tetrodotoxin abolished VEPs at all levels in the visual pathway, confirming successful blockage of ganglion cell activity. Tetrodotoxin also abolished EEPs and this effect was independent of the stimulating electrode configurations. CONCLUSIONS: Transorbital electrically evoked responses in the visual pathway, irrespective of reference electrode placement, are initiated by activation of the retina and not by passive conductance and direct activation of neurons in other visual structures. Thus, placement of stimulating electrodes exclusively around the eyeball may be sufficient to achieve therapeutic effects

Economic Migration in Central Siberia and Ethnic Conflict Risks (Based on Krasnoyarsk Krai Analysis)

Migration, be it free or forced, is an essential prerequisite of the dynamic development of many territories, Krasnoyarsk Krai inclusive. The territory of the region is irregularly and poorly populated: 84% of inhabitants are concentrated in the south of the region, in the territory comprising only 10% of the regional territory. Under the circumstances Krasnoyarsk Krai needs an increased flow of migrants for the participation in economic development of unpopulated areas of Krai. But on the other hand, economic need in migrants becomes the reason of the ethnic conflicts risks increase in Central Siberia through creation of various negative myths on migrants. The experts report an increase in social tension between migrants and host parties in the Siberian regions of the Russian Federation. The interrelations inside the social medium and cultural contacts are in many respects determinant for the economic development of the region because the main actors of the economics are people. peer reviewedThe high prevalence of diagnosed cases of severe neurological disorders, a significant proportion of which are epilepsy, contributes to a high level of mortality and disability in the population. Neurotrophic factors BDNF and GNDF are considered promising agents aimed at increasing the central nervous system's adaptive potential for the development of the epileptiform activity. Despite the pronounced neuroprotective and anticonvulsant potential, an appropriate way to stimulate these endogenous signaling molecules with minimal risk of side effects remains an open question. Herein, we assessed the safety of gene therapy using original adeno-associated viral constructs carrying the genes of neurotrophic factors BDNF and GDNF in the early postnatal period of development of experimental animals. The intraventricular injection of AAV-Syn-BDNF-eGFP and AAV-Syn-GDNF-eGFP viral constructs into newborn mice was found to provide persistent overexpression of target genes in the hippocampus and cerebral cortex in vivo for four weeks after injection. The application of viral constructs has a multidirectional effect on the weight and body length characteristics of mice in the early postnatal period; however, it ensures the animals' resistance to the development of seizure activity under audiogenic stimulation in the late postnatal period and preserves basic behavioral reactions, emotional status, as well as the mnestic and cognitive abilities of mice after simulated stress. Our results demonstrated the safety of using the AAV-Syn-BDNF-eGFP and AAV-Syn-GDNF-eGFP viral constructs in vivo, which indicates the expediency of further testing the constructs as therapeutic anticonvulsants
