Exploring The Missing Link Between Trust in Business Negotiation and Virtual Work

    Get PDF
This article addressed the relevance of Trust in online business negotiations. The purpose of this paper is two-fold. Firstly, this article provides an overview of the literature on Trust, business negotiations, and virtual work to address the research gap on Trust in virtual business negotiations. Secondly, based on this overview, we developed a theoretical model encompassing factors, practices, and tools that impact Trust in online business negotiations. After a systematic review, key findings pointed out that Trust significantly influences the virtual negotiation environment. Also, we discovered that we need to study coherently defining the factors that influence Trust in the virtual environment and demonstrate how it is connected to the overall virtual negotiation process. We conclude that the factors, practices, and tools that directly influence online negotiations are distance, time, perceived distance, culture, available technology, and reputation.&nbsp

    Turbo EP-based Equalization: a Filter-Type Implementation

This manuscript has been submitted to Transactions on Communications on September 7, 2017; revised on January 10, 2018 and March 27, 2018; and accepted on April 25, 2018 We propose a novel filter-type equalizer to improve the solution of the linear minimum-mean squared-error (LMMSE) turbo equalizer, with computational complexity constrained to be quadratic in the filter length. When high-order modulations and/or large memory channels are used the optimal BCJR equalizer is unavailable, due to its computational complexity. In this scenario, the filter-type LMMSE turbo equalization exhibits a good performance compared to other approximations. In this paper, we show that this solution can be significantly improved by using expectation propagation (EP) in the estimation of the a posteriori probabilities. First, it yields a more accurate estimation of the extrinsic distribution to be sent to the channel decoder. Second, compared to other solutions based on EP the computational complexity of the proposed solution is constrained to be quadratic in the length of the finite impulse response (FIR). In addition, we review previous EP-based turbo equalization implementations. Instead of considering default uniform priors we exploit the outputs of the decoder. Some simulation results are included to show that this new EP-based filter remarkably outperforms the turbo approach of previous versions of the EP algorithm and also improves the LMMSE solution, with and without turbo equalization

A new alliance, order unid class (Rielliout, Rielletalia, Riel/erro), with two new associations (Riel/eruto helicoplcyllae, Riel/eruto noíorisii) are described. Both of them are charactenized by the preence of different species of the genus Riella Mont. Ecological data of te aquatic habitat in which they grow are also given

One-shot action recognition in challenging therapy scenarios

    Get PDF
One-shot action recognition aims to recognize new action categories from a single reference example, typically referred to as the anchor example. This work presents a novel approach for one-shot action recognition in the wild that computes motion representations robust to variable kinematic conditions. One-shot action recognition is then performed by evaluating anchor and target motion representations. We also develop a set of complementary steps that boost the action recognition performance in the most challenging scenarios. Our approach is evaluated on the public NTU-120 one-shot action recognition benchmark, outperforming previous action recognition models. Besides, we evaluate our framework on a real use-case of therapy with autistic people. These recordings are particularly challenging due to high-level artifacts from the patient motion. Our results provide not only quantitative but also online qualitative measures, essential for the patient evaluation and monitoring during the actual therapy. © 2021 IEEE

REGIME JURÍDICO DOS BENS DAS EMPRESAS PRESTADORAS DE SERVIÇO PÚBLICO

This paper analyzes the legal framework of the public goods applied in the public utilities provided by public and private companies. Therefore, uses the theoretical method to analyze the legislation and the doctrine about the issue and the empirical method to analyze the case law. From this analysis, it notes a constant approximation between legal models applied to goods of both corporate species and a reinterpretation trend of “functional criterion” applied to the doctrinal and case law definition of public goods used in the provision of public utilities.O presente artigo analisa o regime jurídico dos bens empregados na prestação de serviços públicos pelas empresas estatais e pelas empresas privadas concessionárias.
