Catalytic dehydrocoupling of amine-boranes and amines into diaminoboranes: isolation of a Pt(II), Shimoi-type, η1-BH complex

    Get PDF
The platinum complex [Pt(IBu′)(IBu)][BAr] is a very efficient catalyst in the synthesis of diaminoboranes through dehydrocoupling of amine-boranes and amines. Shimoi-type, η-BH complexes are key intermediates in the process.Financial support (FEDER contribution) from the MINECO (Projects CTQ2013-45011-P and CTQ2014-51912-REDC) and the Junta de Andalucía (Project FQM-2126) is gratefully acknowledged. We acknowledge support by the CSIC Open Access Publication Initiative through its Unit of Information Resources for Research (URICI).Peer Reviewe

The space of interaction among young people, being close range, with which they have grown, it is web 2.0. It is native to the use, ability to assimilate and socialization, young people do in this environment. To understand the relationship of signs down and why, plant a photographic study of the profiles from the analysis of the features CSPeirce mark. This research was conducted by studying the photographs of ten teenagers, contrasted with in-depth interviews and interpreting data from a matrix developed by researchers Römer and Díez. Whispering Gallery Modes for Accurate Characterization of Optical Fibers’ Parameters

    Get PDF
Whispering gallery modes (WGMs) are surface modes that propagate azimuthally around resonators with rotational symmetry (toroidal, spherical, or, as in our case, cylindrical shaped, since the optical fiber itself plays the role of the microresonator). These modes are resonant in optical wavelength, and the spectral position of the resonances depends on the radius and the refractive index of the microresonator material. Due to the high-quality factor of the resonances (as high as 107 in cylindrical microresonators), they allow measuring different parameters with high sensitivities and very low detection limits. Here, we report the use of WGMs to characterize the properties of the material that forms the microresonator. In particular, we highlight the use of this technique to measure temperature profiles along conventional and special fibers (such as photosensitive or doped fibers), elasto-optic coefficients, and UV-induced absorption loss coefficients of different photosensitive fibers. These parameters of the fibers set the optical response of fiber-based components and may change when the device is in use in an optical system; thus, this technique allows an accurate characterization of the devices and leads to proper designs of components with specific optical responses

Formation of C−X Bonds Through Stable Low-Electron Count Cationic Pt(IV) Alkyl Complexes Stabilized by N-Heterocyclic Carbenes

    Get PDF
Cationic five-coordinate Pt(IV) alkyl complexes stabilized by bulky N-heterocyclic carbenes have been isolated and fully characterized. Related species have been postulated as key intermediates in carbon–heteroatom coupling reactions and most particularly in Shilov-type chemistry. The alkyl groups exhibit a pronounced electrophilic character and can undergo nucleophilic addition of pyridine, bromide, or iodide to form new carbon–heteroatom bonds. Nevertheless, direct reductive coupling to form C–X bonds can be operative in the absence of an external nucleophile source.Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades CTQ2013-45011Junta de Andalucía FQM-212

Measurement of the strain-optic coefficients of PMMA from 800 to 2000 nm

    Get PDF
The strain-optic coefficients of PMMA are measured in a broad wavelength range from 800 to 2000 nm. The sensitivity of the azimuthal whispering gallery mode resonances to the strain is exploited to measure the strain-optic coefficients of PMMA micro-rods. The technique is based on measuring the wavelength shift of the resonances of both polarizations states, the TE and TM, when an axial strain is applied to the polymer rods. This method enables the determination of the strain-optic coefficients of the material in a broad wavelength range. In particular, in the near-infrared range, the PMMA exhibits negligible dispersion and anisotropy, and the strain-optic coefficients show constant values within the experimental error: p11 = 0.298 ± 0.010 and p12 = 0.294 ± 0.010

An intrinsic cell cycle timer terminates limb bud outgrowth

    Get PDF
The longstanding view of how proliferative outgrowth terminates following the patterning phase of limb development involves the breakdown of reciprocal extrinsic signalling between the distal mesenchyme and the overlying epithelium (e-m signalling). However, by grafting distal mesenchyme cells from late stage chick wing buds to the epithelial environment of younger wing buds, we show that this mechanism is not required. RNA sequencing reveals that distal mesenchyme cells complete proliferative outgrowth by an intrinsic cell cycle timer in the presence of e-m signalling. In this process, e-m signalling is required permissively to allow the intrinsic cell cycle timer to run its course. We provide evidence that a temporal switch from BMP antagonism to BMP signalling controls the intrinsic cell cycle timer during limb outgrowth. Our findings have general implications for other patterning systems in which extrinsic signals and intrinsic timers are integrated

Influence of sex on intracellular calcium homoeostasis in patients with atrial fibrillation

Altres ajuts: Fundació Marato TV3 [20152030/31].Atrial fibrillation (AF) has been associated with intracellular calcium disturbances in human atrial myocytes, but little is known about the potential influence of sex and we here aimed to address this issue. Alterations in calcium regulatory mechanisms were assessed in human atrial myocytes from patients without AF or with long-standing persistent or permanent AF. Patch-clamp measurements revealed that L-type calcium current (I ) density was significantly smaller in males with than without AF (−1.15 ± 0.37 vs. −2.06 ± 0.29 pA/pF) but not in females with AF (−1.88 ± 0.40 vs. −2.21 ± 0.0.30 pA/pF). In contrast, transient inward currents (I ) were more frequent in females with than without AF (1.92 ± 0.36 vs. 1.10 ± 0.19 events/min) but not in males with AF. Moreover, confocal calcium imaging showed that females with AF had more calcium spark sites than those without AF (9.8 ± 1.8 vs. 2.2 ± 1.9 sites/µm 2) and sparks were wider (3.0 ± 0.3 vs. 2.2 ± 0.3 µm) and lasted longer (79 ± 6 vs. 55 ± 8 ms), favouring their fusion into calcium waves that triggers I s and afterdepolarizations. This was linked to higher ryanodine receptor phosphorylation at s2808 in women with AF, and inhibition of adenosine A or beta-adrenergic receptors that modulate s2808 phosphorylation was able to reduce the higher incidence of I in women with AF. Perturbations of the calcium homoeostasis in AF is sex-dependent, concurring with increased spontaneous SR calcium release-induced electrical activity in women but not in men, and with diminished I density in men only.
