O presente texto expõe uma pequena contextualização da obra e do artista joinvilense Hamilton Machado (24/03/1949 – 26/08/1992) e referências de suapoética com artistas da história da arte. Realizando assim, a retomada de temas e trechos apresentados na dissertação de mestrado: Hamilton Machado -referências e sobrevivências da história da arte, defendida em 2016 no Programa de Pós-graduação em Artes Visuais (PPGAV) da Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina (UDESC), com orientação da Profª Drª Sandra Makowiecky.Palavras-chave. Terapia ocupacional e a inclusão digital de pessoas com deficiência

Esse artigo apresenta uma discussão sobre a necessidade da inclusão digital na sociedade atual, e seus benefícios para as pessoas com deficiência. Os terapeutas ocupacionais podem contribuir no sentido de aumentar o nível de participação social de pessoas com deficiência, possibilitando a elas o acesso às tecnologias de informação por meio do uso de diversos recursos, como produtos de tecnologia de apoio. Também acreditamos que o terapeuta ocupacional é o profissional responsável por assessorar outros profissionais - e a população em geral - sobre o uso correto dos dispositivos de tecnologia de apoio e outros aspectos ligados à inclusão digital. Para esse estudo, foram feitas entrevistas com terapeutas ocupacionais de importantes serviços de reabilitação, além de estudos de acessibilidade em serviços de inclusão digital, localizados na Zona Leste da cidade de São Paulo.This article presents a discussion about the necessity of digital inclusion in actual society and its benefits for disabled people. Occupational Therapists can contribute in order to increase social participation level of disabled people, giving them access to information technology through the use of several resources, such as assistive technology products. We also believe that Occupational Therapist is the professional responsible for advise other professionals and general population about the correct use of assistive technology products, and other aspects connected to the digital inclusion. For this study, interviews were realized with occupational therapists from important rehabilitation services in São Paulo and also acessibility studies in digital inclusion services localizated in East Area of São Paulo city

Efeitos de uma onda de calor no crescimento e no desenvolvimento de girinos da rã-de-focinho-pontiagudo, Discoglossus galganoi: é possível compensá-los com diferentes dietas?

Tese de mestrado. Biologia (Biologia da Conservação). Universidade de Lisboa, Faculdade de Ciências, 2014Nas últimas décadas tem-se verificado o desaparecimento de muitas espécies de anfíbios a um ritmo elevado. As condições ambientais têm especial importância por influenciarem o crescimento e a sobrevivência destes animais. Os modelos relativos às alterações climáticas prevêem que o aumento da temperatura global esteja associado ao aumento de eventos extremos como ondas de calor. Os impactos na dinâmica dos corpos de água pouco profundos podem ser severos, podendo provocar a subida da temperatura da água para valores para os quais as comunidades não estão adaptadas. Este estudo tem como objectivos avaliar os efeitos de uma onda de calor e os efeitos da interacção entre a temperatura e a dieta no crescimento e no desenvolvimento nos girinos e nas características dos pós-metamórficos da rã-de-focinho-pontiagudo, Discoglossus galganoi. São testados 4 tratamentos térmicos: frio, quente, aquecimento gradual e um que replica os efeitos de uma onda de calor, e 3 dietas: uma rica em proteínas, outra pobre em proteínas e uma terceira, que possibilita a escolha entre as duas dietas. Observou-se que temperaturas frias prolongam o período larvar e aumentam o tamanho à metamorfose e temperaturas quentes aceleram o desenvolvimento à custa de um tamanho menor. A dieta rica em proteínas acelerou o crescimento e o desenvolvimento e a dieta pobre em proteínas provocou elevada mortalidade em temperaturas quentes. A onda de calor teve efeitos negativos sobre os girinos que puderam escolher a sua dieta, efeitos esses quase totalmente compensados nos animais com uma dieta rica em proteínas. Este estudo mostrou que as condições do meio podem ser desfavoráveis em charcos onde os girinos dependam apenas de plantas para se alimentarem, principalmente se a temperatura aumentar. Mostrou também que não é vantajoso atrasar a época de reprodução pois os girinos podem ficar expostos a ondas de calor. Nesta situação uma dieta animal é crucial para um rápido crescimento e uma metamorfose com sucesso; contudo a presença de macroinvertebrados em habitats efémeros pode ser reduzida. Observou-se que os girinos não optaram por ingerir uma dieta com maior qualidade, sugerindo que esta espécie não está adaptada às consequências de alterações repentinas da temperatura, nomeadamente, ondas de calor.Amphibians are disappearing at an alarming rate in the last decades. Environmental conditions are particularly important in this group of animals, influencing growth and survival. Current models of climate change predict that the increase in global temperature will be associated with an increase in frequency, intensity and duration of heat waves. Their impacts on the dynamics of shallow bodies of water can be severe and may rise water temperatures to values for which the individuals are not adapted. This study assesses the effects of a heat wave as well as the combined effects of temperature and diet on growth and development of Iberian-Painted-Frog, Discoglossus galganoi, tadpoles. Four temperature treatments: cold, warm, gradual temperature rise and a heat wave and three diets: protein-rich, protein-poor and both types presented together, allowing the choice between the two diets, were tested. Cold temperatures extended the larval period and increased size at metamorphosis, while warm temperatures accelerated the development at the cost of a smaller size. The protein-rich diet accelerated growth and development, while the protein-poor diet caused high mortality in warm temperatures. The heat wave had detrimental effects on the tadpoles that could choose from among both diets; these effects were much weaker in the tadpoles that were fed a protein-rich diet. This study showed that environmental conditions may be disadvantageous in ponds where tadpoles depend mainly on plant-based diets, especially in the presence of increased temperatures, a protein-rich diet could mitigate these effects, but the abundance of macroinvertebrates in ephemeral habitats may be low. This study also showed that it is not advantageous to delay the breeding season because tadpoles can be exposed to possible heat waves occurring in early spring. In order to overcome the effect of heat waves, tadpoles could theoretically increase the intake of protein-rich items. However, in our experiment, they did not take that option, which is an indication that this species is not adapted to the consequences of increasing temperatures

Diet quality and therapeutic targets in patients with type 2 diabetes : evaluation of concordance between dietary indexes

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the concordance between two dietary indexes, the Healthy Eating Index (HEI) and the Diabetes Healthy Eating Index (DHEI), in evaluating diet quality and its possible association with therapeutic targets in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: Cross-sectional study of outpatients with type 2 diabetes mellitus treated at a university hospital. Dietary information was obtained from a quantitative food frequency questionnaire (previously validated for use in patients with type 2 diabetes) and converted into daily intakes. Diet quality was assessed using two dietary indexes: HEI (12 components, nine food groups and three moderation components) and DHEI (10 components, six food groups, three nutrient groups, and one for variety of diet). In both indexes, the sum of the scores for each component yields an overall score converted on a scale from 0 to 100%; diet quality is subsequently ranked as low (80%). Patients underwent clinical and laboratory assessment. Those with fasting blood glucose values 70–130 mg/dL, A1c < 7%, total cholesterol <200 mg/dL, LDL-cholesterol <100 mg/dL, and triglycerides <150 mg/dL were considered to meet therapeutic targets. All analyses were conducted in PASW Statistics 18.0, and p < 0.05 deemed significant. Results: We analyzed 148 patients with type 2 diabetes (73% white, mean age 63.2 ± 9.4 years, median diabetes duration 10 [IQR 5–19] years, mean A1c% 8.4 ± 2.0%, and mean BMI 30.5 ± 4.2 kg/m2). Mean energy intake was 2114 ± 649 kcal/day. DHEI scores were 17.0 (95%CI -6.8 to 41.0) points lower than HEI scores (55.9 ± 14.2% vs. 72.9 ± 10.7%, respectively; P < 0.001), suggesting there is no agreement (Bland-Altman method), and the Pearson correlation coefficient was 0.55 (P < 0.001). More patients were classified as having a low-quality diet by the DHEI than by the HEI (38.5% vs. 1.4%; P < 0.001). A higher proportion of patients (35.7%) with out-of-target total cholesterol levels had a low-quality diet evaluated by the DHEI (P = 0.03). We did not find associations between overall score of HEI and therapeutic targets. Conclusions: In its intended population of patients with type 2 diabetes, the DHEI seems to be a more rigorous tool to evaluate association between diet quality and changes in metabolic parameters

Pesquisas com Crianças na Educação Infantil: aspectos éticos e metodológicos nas investigações sobre letramento e identidade étnica-racial

O trabalho, a partir do campo dos Estudos da Infância, tem como objetivo discutir os aspectos éticos e metodológicos implicados nas investigações sobre letramento e identidade étnica-racial na Educação Infantil. Metodologicamente, apresenta um mapeamento realizado no site da Biblioteca Digital de Teses de Dissertações (BDTD) a respeito das estratégias de produção de dados presentes em investigações defendidas no período de 2008 a 2018 e seus correlatos cuidados éticos no fazer investigativo. Com base nas análises, o artigo discute as especificidades das investigações com crianças e define, então, três unidades de análise: 1) especificidades da pesquisa com crianças; 2) estratégias de produção de dados presentes nas pesquisas: bricolagens metodológicas; 3) a ética na pesquisa. Com o trabalho, é possível inferir sobre a complexidade das investigações com crianças e, sobretudo, sobre a importância de que sejam conhecidos os modos como as crianças pensam sobre os assuntos que lhes dizem respeito, tendo em vista a qualificação das práticas pedagógicas e a promoção de espaços de maior participação e protagonismo dos pequenos na Educação Infantil

Association of Dental Anxiety with Psychosocial Characteristics among Children Aged 7-13 Years

Objective: To identify psychosocial characteristics associated with dental anxiety in children aged 7-13 years in the dental setting. Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with children aged 7-13 years attended at the Dentistry School of Pelotas, Brazil. Data collection was based on a questionnaire administered to mothers and children, and the behavior of children during dental treatment was evaluated using the Frankl’ Scale. Data were analyzed using Chi-square&nbsp; and&nbsp; Fisher’s exact tests in order to analyze the association between independent variables and dental anxiety. The effect of variables on the outcome was assessed by the Poisson regression model with robust variance (Prevalence Ratio; 95% Confidence interval). Results: A total of 187 children were included. Dental anxiety prevalence was 40.11%. After adjustments, younger children (p=0.046), only child (p=0.019), and children with negative previous dental experience (p=0.046) showed higher dental anxiety prevalence.&nbsp; Children with uncooperative behavior in previous (p=0.033) and current (p≤0.001) dental appointments showed higher dental anxiety prevalence. Conclusion: In this sample of children treated at a dentistry school, a report of dental anxiety was associated with age, birth order, previous dental experience and behavior in dental settings

A partir del trabajo, es posible inferir sobre la complejidad de las investigaciones con niños y sobre todo, acerca de la importancia de que se conozcan los modos en que los niños piensan sobre los asuntos que les conciernen, teniendo en cuenta la calificación de las prácticas pedagógicas y la promoción de espacios de mayor participación y protagonismo de los pequeños en la Educación Infantil.This paper, stemming from the field of Childhood Studies, aims to discuss the ethical and methodological aspects involved in researching on literacy and ethnic-racial identity in Early Childhood Education. Methodologically, a mapping carried out on the site of the Digital Library of Theses of Dissertations (BDTD) is presented regarding the data production strategies present in investigations defended in the period from 2008 to 2018, and their related ethical considerations care present in the investigative process. From the analysis, a discussion is presented about the specificities of the investigations with children. Thus, three units of analysis are defined: 1) specificities of the research with children; 2) data production strategies present in the research: methodological bricolages; 3) ethics in research. From the work, it is possible to make inferences about the complexity of the investigations with children and, above all, about the importance of getting to know the ways in which children think about the subjects that concern them, with a view to the qualification of the pedagogical practices and the promotion of spaces of greater participation, and protagonism of the small ones in the Early Childhood Education
