The memory of iron stress in strawberry plants

Research ArticleTo provide information towards optimization of strategies to treat Fe deficiency, experiments were conducted to study the responses of Fe-deficient plants to the resupply of Fe. Strawberry (Fragaria ananassa Duch.) was used as model plant. Bare-root transplants of strawberry (cv. ‘Diamante’) were grown for 42 days in Hoagland's nutrient solutions without Fe (Fe0) and containing 10 mM of Fe as Fe-EDDHA (control, Fe10). For plants under Fe0 the total chlorophyll concentration of young leaves decreased progressively on time, showing the typical symptoms of iron chlorosis. After 35 days the Fe concentration was 6% of that observed for plants growing under Fe10. Half of plants growing under Fe0 were then Fe-resupplied by adding 10 mM of Fe to the Fe0 nutrient solution (FeR). Full Chlorophyll recovery of young leaves took place within 12 days. Root ferric chelate-reductase activity (FCR) and succinic and citric acid concentrations increased in FeR plants. Fe partition revealed that FeR plants expressively accumulated this nutrient in the crown and flowers. This observation can be due to a passive deactivation mechanism of the FCR activity, associated with continuous synthesis of succinic and citric acids at root level, and consequent greater uptake of Fe.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

IMPLEMENTASI APLIKASI PEMBAYARAN BERBASIS WEB DI YAYASAN ISLAM AL-AZHAR SRIWIJAYA

Yayasan Islam Al–azhar Sriwijaya adalah sebuah Lembaga Pendidikan swasta yang masih menggunakan pembayaran seragam dan antar jemput dengan menggunakan aplikasi konvensional atau tunai yaitu dengan menggunakan aplikasi microsoft exel atau belum terkomputerisasi dengan baik. Penggunaan metode ini mengakibatkan seringnya terjadi kesala-han dalam pengelolaan data seperti salah memasukan nominal pembayaran, nama siswa, tanggal pembayaran, hal ini dikarena terlalu banyak data yang harus di masukkan secara manual. Permasalahan yang lain timbul dari kesalahan sebelumnya ada-lah ketika membuat laporan, hasil laporan menjadi tidak valid dan akurat. Permasalahan inilah yang melatar belakangi pembu-atan aplikasi pembayaran berbasis web mobile ini. Aplikasi ini dirancang menggunakan metode object oriented hypermedia de-sign method (OOHDM). Pada metode OOHDM terdapat empat fase yaitu domain analysis, navigational design, abstract inter-face design and implementasi. Pengembangan aplikasi yang telah dilakukan mengahasilkan perancangan aplikasi yang terdiri dari desain navigasi, desain database, desain antarmuka (input dan output). Selanjutnya hasil akhir dari aplikasi ini berupa aplikasi web mobile yang di hosting di https://alazharsriwijaya.my.id. Akhirnya dilakukan proses uji coba Dengan metode blackbox testing. Hasil uji coba menunjukan bahwa seluruh fungsional dari aplikasi berjalan seperti yang di-harapkan. Hasil dari pengujian dengan metode System Usability Scale (SUS), didapat nilai rata-rata 74,17, yang berarti secara usa-bility pengujian tersebut dapat diterima (acceptable)

Értelem és érzelem Patrick Ness Szólít a szörny és Seanan McGuire Mélybe ránt a Lápvilág kisregényeiben

Dolgozatomban két olyan ifjúsági fantasyvel foglalkozom, amelynek középpontjában a fiatalkori trauma áll. Kiindulópontom Patrick Ness Szólít a szörny című kisregénye, amelyben a főszereplő fiú édesanyja közelgő halálát egy szörny kéretlen segítségével dolgozza fel. A fa-monstrum történetek segítségével ábrázolja a fiú pszichés tájképét, és ezáltal rombol és gyógyít. Ez a történetmesélés/fantasy stresszoldó szerepéről szóló példabeszéd egyúttal a felnőttvilágba való beavatásról is szól, mivel a fiú megérti azokat a negatív érzelmeit, amelyek egy komplexebb világképet engednek látni. Seanan McGuire kisregényének elemzése a fenti gondolatmenetet viszi tovább. A Mélybe ránt a Lápvilág traumatizált tini (iker) főszereplői egy olyan másik világban találnak ideiglenes otthonra, amely szintén mentális tájképként olvasható: a Lápvilág a gyerekekben lezajló pszichés folyamatok leképződése, és annak monstruozitása a karakterek valós világban érzékelt szükségleteiből adódó válaszként értelmezhető. McGuire különbséget tesz a két ikerleány helyzetértékelési, és helyzetértelmezési képességeit illetően, ennek különbségét is részben a másként megélt traumatizált gyerekkorhoz – és így eltérő érzelmekhez - köti. The present paper discusses two YA (Young Adult) fantasiest that focus on childhood trauma. My starting point is Patrick Ness’s A Monster Calls, in which the protagonist, the thirteen-year-old Conor is forced to cope with the looming death of her mother. Conor’s life seems to be further complicated by a menacing monster, who regularly visits the teenage boy at nights, but it turns out that the monster is an inevitable part of the boy’s coping mechanism. The monster brings destruction and healing with the help of stories, which on the one hand may be read as a kind of parable about the stress-managing role of storytelling (or fantasy) and poses significant questions concerning how to interpret stories, on the other. The novella foregrounds the process whereby a child turns from a „novice reader” into an „expert reader”, to use Maryanne Wolf’s terms. This process is necessary for everyone to become skilled at interpreting their own lives and is in close relation with the negative emotions that come from the initiation into a more complex, „adult” world. Analyzing Seanan McGuire’s Down Among the Sticks and Bones continues the discussion. McGuire’s novella features a twin couple, who were brought up in an emotionally barren and oppressive environment, thus their whole childhood may be considered as traumatized. They could not develop a healthy coping mechanism that may allow them to get integrated into society; therefore, they find a temporary home in an alternative world. This world may be read a psychic landscape, a projection of the children’s mental processes, whose monstrosity is a kind of response to the characters’ needs in the real world. McGuire differentiates between the twin daughters’ abilities to interpret their situations and connects the difference in their competences to how they coped with their traumatic childhood and their emotional states, as a consequence. She applies a narrative strategy that aims at placing the reader into an expert reader position without presenting moral of the story didactically. This strategy relies on presenting the twins as fate alternatives and providing an open narrative ending that forces the readers to make their own conclusions

Effect of fertigation with nitrogen and foliar application of some nutrients on growth, yield and apple fruit mineral composition

Utjecaj folijarne aplikacije nekih hraniva, sa ili bez fertirigacije s dušikom, u uspredbi s klasičnom gnojidbom s dušikom, na vegetativni rast, rodnost, te sadržaj mineralnih elemenata u plodovima, istraživan je sa sortom Golden Delicious, cijepljenom na podlozi M9, tijekom 2000-2002. Istraživanja su obavljena u dva subpokusa: u prvom počevši s dvogodišnjim, a u drugom s trogodišnjim voćkama. U obadva pokusa voćke su uzgajane kao super vreteno (razmak sadnje 3.2 x 0.7m). Rezultati istraživanja ukazuju na veće značenje opterećenja rodom, a relativno mali učinak folijarne gnojidbe na rast, rodnost i sadržaj mineralnih elemenata u plodovima u godinama ulaska u produktivnu dob. Kada su stabla bila prikladno opterećena rodom, sadržaj i odnosi N/Ca, K/Ca i (Mg + K)/Ca bili su u granicama koje omogućuju uspješno čuvanje u hladnjači. Nasuprot tomu, u stabala s niskim opterećenjem, niti primjena folijarne gnojidbe nije pridonijela poboljšanju sadržaja mineralnih elmenata i plodovi su bili neprikladni za duže čuvanje u hladnjači.The effect of foliar application of some nutrients and fertigation in comparison with broadcast nitrogen fertilization on growth, yield and mineral fruit composition of young apple ‘Golden Delicious’, grafted on M9 rootstock was investigated in years 2000-2002. Two orchard experiments were established, one with 2-year and the other with 3-year old trees, grown at a spacing of 3.2 x 0.7 m and trained to super spindle. The results showed low beneficial effect of applied treatments, and relatively high effect of crop load on growth, yield and fruit mineral content. Ratios of N/Ca, K/Ca and (Mg + K)/Ca in fruits indicated good storage quality as related to normal crop load. Contrary to that, when treatments were applied on trees with inadequate crop load, no beneficial effect occurred and fruits showed low storage life. This result illustrates the important balance between vegetative growth and fruit load that occurs during tree establishment
